so the french said "no" to the european constitution, what do you think are the consequences for france and europe?

first consequence for france: a shakeup in the government, dominique de Villepin, an old friend of the US (remember the french guy that made a speach against war in irak at the UN) has just been named prime minister by president jaques chirac. The other big candidate for the sotwas liberal pro american nicolas sarkozy.

how will the bush administraton react to this move?..... will it even react?

No !

Topic: what's missing in US politics

Posted: 05/29/05 05:01 PM

Forum: Politics

when i watch the predisential "debates" in the us it was way to organised you should just let people sit down and talk, politics can get really entertining where we see some severe ownage, like at the TV debates in france after the no won in the referendum a few minutes ago

1st peson - the problem is that right now the representents don't represent the people
2nd person -last i heard you're a deputy, are you saying you're not representing the people?
3rd person comes in: oh come on, you know perfectly what he means!
2nd person- Anyway, the problem is that france voted no, allies like germany voted yes...
1st person: WHEN did germany vote yes?
2nd person: not to long ago the parlement ratified it, don't you know that?
1st person: the parlement represents the people!
2nd person: like i said before the problem is that they don't
1st person: then what does it do?
3rd person: listen the french people voted against a constitution at 55% that the french parlement would have voted for at 90 %, what kind of representation is that?

boom, owned! why can't there be some action like that in american debates?

The American Culture is also some thing a lot of other more old fashoined countries look down upon, they don't wish to be Americanized ("Melting Pot effect", they prefer there small un-advanced life style rather than the new laws and technology that America uses).

i lived in the US and didn't like the lifestyle, my dad was borned and raised in the US and doesn't like american lifestyle, does this mean we're late?

to many people being "americanized" means losing culture, in fact what is american culture?

you re telling me advanced life style : i lived in a region of california that seemed to be way late, i knew kids who weren't going to school because they worked in the farm!

the problem i have with it is that it's only beened used by totaliterist regimes, it would really give the US a really bad image, it 's affective because everybody in danger the guilty but also a lot of innocent people, it installs fear and terror, you want to fight terrorism with terror, you would look as bad as them, increasing hate for the US

You actually believe in trials?

no not really, i wanted to see your reaction, that's all

Threatening their families and friends may actually get through to them that they might be engaged in a pointless act of self-destruction.

menacing their families wouldn't do anything, they don't fear death they embrace it! remember the 9/11 terrorist thought they were helping the passagers by killing them, so i don't think it would work.

It's pretty cruel, but that is the way of the world: cold, dark, and cruel.

so you do recognise this has nothing to do with bringing freedom and democraty to the region?
