Why don't you post a scan or two on here. Than write a synopsis of the story. You would probably have a better chance of attracting people then.

Offering money doesn't hurt either :p

Topic: Average time for a flash(in hours)

Posted: 05/15/05 12:52 PM

Forum: Flash

How long does a normal 2-4 minute flash take you? I keep hearing people say they do one flash in about three days or 3 months.

I ask this because I'll be starting work soon, and in order to finish my flash I want to establish a schedule (I work Midnights o_O)

*Note, umm... I'll be tweening most of it (hides face in shame)

You can try emailing the guy who did the Newgrounds SIM game. He may be able to help you or at least give you tips.

I'm drawing Saria for my first flash. I need a good flesh color but she ends up looking either too yellow or too white.

I can easily do the highlighting and shadow, I just can't find a good base color :(

One thing that EVERYONE seems to be getting wrong nowadays is pacing. Parodies and Comedies need to be rapid fire jokes - one after the other, giving the audience little or no time to react to the last joke before the next one is fired at them. Recently RMK1 and The Real Legend of Zelda just seem to have the jokes at the end of long winded, predictable, sentance exchanges. There needs to be some serious work in even the best Flash animator's pacings when it comes to scripts.

I sort've agree with you. They don't need to rapid fire jokes all the time. That's called "Random Humor" and quite frankly, I don't want every parody to be nothing but Random humor. What you're thinking about are oneliners. AKA jokes where someone says something and the other replies to it in a funny manner. They are quite good when not overly used. Unfortunately, this is probably the type you are talking about. A good example where its done right is in "A New Bunny" where the boys say "and what does that do?" and Buzz says "It keeps your head warm." (You have to see the scene to get it)

I agree, I didn't like Safe Sex too much...weak humor with a teen going through maturity.

And I'm confused on this one; Legendary_Frog submitted his AvP movie on April 11 (2 days ago) and didn't get any award for it the next day...the next day after that next day, he gets second place...can anyone explain that to me?

The Daily 5 was announced at midnight on April 12. Now, if people submit on the 11th, this allows for at least a cycle of 24 hours of voting. If it was done on the dot, the person who makes the flash, and has people vote 5's right before it changes, the scores would be inflated.

It's just more efficiant. That's all.

Its probably the the clothes. My real teacher dresses in jeans and a collared shirt for class. But he's also head of the department so he could dress however he pleases.

I have to make a case study on the theory if teachers can be replaced by technology, so I'm using flash to do so. I was wondering how he looks because I have to give him a beta on my flash before he can approve it. (NOTE: And yes he looks like a teenager in real life even though he's over thirty) My plan is that I will create a recreation of about five minutes of class time using this model.

Most of time when that happens to me, its because I forgot to mark one of the frames as "tween"(ussually the last one) right click the last key frame and check if "Motion tween" is on for it.

Even if you did go around the problem with FBF, its important to at least know how to tween since there are some areas where its convienient (like for a car driving by) so don't give up on such a simple process.

MGC was good, but to me, its not fair. Everyone's giving credit to LF but I personally believe that the real success out of it came out of NALO's drawings, expressions, and such. If LF drew it with his style, it just wouldn't be as funny.

All they are doing is stretching the last act to get more publicity. They said so themselves on their site that the only reason they put the series on Newgrounds was to get more free advertisement out of it. Why else would they make one part into 5 pieces? Before they were submitting it chapter by chapter, than Acts, than Sub acts.

I swear I'll write a 50,000 word complaint to Tom if after they finish it, they "resubmit" it again.

What do you suggest that would make good battle music for a medievil(sp?) fight? The reason I say no FF or LotR is because I personally think they are a bit overused in flash.

Making a flash takes alot of time. Its not like voice acting where you just say something and you're done. I think if you want someone else to animate the whole thing, you should at least pay them. If you think your script is that good, than it should be worth the cost. Its better than the 150 or 400 dollars you'd spend on flash.
