I love this pic, very smooth, but I would fix the line on his left arm (the crack between his upper- and underarm). its not right considering the position of his hand. it is very noticeable to me.

The fact that I have to even contact a mod for something as simple as "is this my personal thread or not" is kind of sad though. deep scars so it seems... this has nothing to do with your initial post. talking about harping on it.

then he goes on apologizing again in a way that makes me cringe and then the next post he cocky as fuck again. everything said here is well within the lines of decency. He is also an EXTREME hypocrite and that needs to be punished, and by punished I mean harsh words may be used. He isnt a troll, he is just a very unpleasant person. personally I like his posts in this forum they are quite entertaining.

This is, as far as I know, still a pretty youthful platform and the moment things get to boring and no one would shut guys like this up (including it being frowned upon if someone would try to) I would look for some place else. again I think the way he is handled is very decent considering.

Your 'I am a mommy and my kids are wiser then you' reference makes no sense to me at all. I am all for keeping the peace and not letting a forum turn into a clusterfuck of trolls and haters, but if no-one is gonna say anything he will not learn/realize he's an idiot. I have been 'punished' on stupid posts in the past multiple times and often enough it was deserved, I learned from that, definitely.

So without trying to be a dick; can I deduce from your post that if one of your kids is being a douche the other one should not say anything about it since (s)he has nothing good to say? thats retarded, I will call on ALL my friends if they are acting stupid and I expect that they would do the same if I would. its how you learn and progress as an individual. Also boys will be boys and are always a tad more direct in such situations.

Again I see nothing done wrong here. not even borderline, but thats personal I guess.

Ok, help me out here. What exactly are you trying to achieve and who is the target audience?

Don't mean to be rude, but it looks like something you'd find in one those ridiculous souvenir shops that clutter up the high tourist traffic beach areas of Florida ...selling '2 shirts for $10' ...circa 1972. Its generic, it's predictable, it's been done to death... so why are you doing it again?

no specific target audience

if youre only referencing to the last pic then the answer is simple; I got frustrated with the earlier design and i couldnt make it work. Since I did spent some time on it I decided to use it but change it.

I agree with the rest, just wanted to explain to those that helped me in this topic.

Response to: Critiques? Posted August 24th, 2012 in Art

I kinda like them all (except the first one really) but I dont understand some decision you made.

the negro; somehow the gradient works, pretty wel even, but I wonder how it will look without it. Also I dont get the eyelashes. I did read your comment on "effeminate features" but I dont 'get it' it makes it look weird, then again maybe thats your goal. also the head shade seems off.

the lesbo; pretty nice, but I dont understand why you would chose to keep the lashes that are beyond the hair. It sometimes works but this case it doesnt imo. I would remove it. Also the underlining of the eyes are missing and is a bit blurry. it doesnt really fit as well. there are 2 white horizontal lines in the eyes, why? The earring looks like its stuck to her neck, thats because of the shading you did. and again the head shading is not correct, this is the most noticeable part.

the naked male(?); no shades this time, only some highlights which is fine. This time the absurdity of the eyes, making it look like a shemale, is fun and suits the whole picture. I would only comment a bit on the body hair, I would shorten it a bit or remove it all together.

Again I really like the pics, but there are some small issues which are easily corrected I think.

Ill probably work on it a bit more, but should be pretty much finished. If someone has any ideas always welcome

So what I didnt tell you is that this design is meant to be on a tshirt. I struggled a bit more with it using your advice, but not for long. I abandoned the original concept and changed it dramatically.

So first of all, my apologies for asking help and then changing it to something completely different anyways. Currently someone in this forum is asking a lot of questions and help, which he gets, but hardly implements it and I detest him for it.

I did try, so I uploaded my last saved progress. somewhere along the line I got to frustrated and turned it around, so I did a little more then what you see now, not much though.

So thanks again, even though there is no outcome, I did learn.

Kinsei; I just didnt understand the sentence " you can see that the colors all seem to stay with in a certain saturation or hue of one another" This is my insightfull failure, I just cant place the words Hue and saturation in context. (i understand the words, but not the context, im not native english)

thx mrFap, helpful comment

Yeah I think you could get some solid dynamic shadows with this light source.
Googling "Sunset Beach" it seems that one of the best ways would to be really get in some strong and more sudden dark shadows both on the objects in the picture and the shadows cast on the ground.
You are also going to want to get the entire thing in to a similar set of color schemes and hues
but you mentioned that you were going to work on the colors anyway, so I won't hammer on that to much.

I dont really know what you mean with your second to last sentence. I interpreted it this was: I filled a layer with red(dish) and blended it with the rest of the picture. Now it has a little bit the oldish photo look, not what I was going for but it worked out.

I dunno, I am just not liking this picture. the shades are so strong. The unshaded sand is to bright, but its because its to flat. I could make some 'realistic' sand, but I am not sure if it will help enough.

I think Ill just change it into something like this

didnt work on the wave btw

lighting Q Posted August 23rd, 2012 in Art

I was afraid this would happen, I ask questions in my own thread which I (only) made to suit people, and then I never get an answer anymore since no one visits that thread (understandable). For this one though I really need advice so I made a separate topic on it.

copy of the question:

new pic... These are the basic shapes and colors, obviously I need to work on the colors, these are just the basics.
I wanted a sunset, but this leaves me with some issues on the coloring. When I put the sun there, the colors of the object will be without much dept I assume. there are no real shadows on the objects 'cause everything you see will be in the shade.

I could probably make some stuff work on the waves and tree, but the van and boards, well theyll just be fully shaded. (when I look at references often all object are just made black)

So my question is, can I still create good depth with this light source? I am doubting if I should remove the sun all together and choose my own lightsource.
plz advice

It's a kind of electronic accessory.

well Im from europe and I still dont see it, but deducing from your hint ill say an LED bicycle lamp
