Response to: Makes me Wonder Collaboration Posted February 23rd, 2009 in Game Development

sorry for not choosing a part yet, but I am definitely participating. I will choose my part of the song soon.
you can judge if I am worthy based on the part when I am finished, so just say yes or not to it when I show it to you. :)

um, that character couldnt possibly be in the daylight, with eyes so wide as that, he would be instantly blinded. Try working away from the anime style, because you dont really get it. Good art, but research your style more or find a new one. :)

skettles, please go read the flash tutorials provided by adobe. It should explain what you need to ask, in depth.

Response to: Flash Techniques Posted February 23rd, 2009 in Game Development

if you need tips to animate sprites, you are too lazy to be animating. Just like madness, there ARE NO TIPS. You can organize your sprite sheet, but I garauntee that all sprite sheets made by someone intelligent are already organized. You could put the framerate at 24, but thats obvious. You could try making your own backgrounds, but you probably suck at drawing. Hell, you could even try adding your own effects, but same as above.

No tips are neccessary, sprite animation is a deadend for anyone who isnt an artist.

Response to: Transparent Background Posted February 23rd, 2009 in Game Development

OH, you want a transparent stage, not to make a created background transparent. This is simple. Firstly, make sure everything you want white or the canvas color colored in, then choose a png. There will be a transparency option. Choose it.

Response to: Transparent Background Posted February 23rd, 2009 in Game Development

because the stage is not your background. Try clicking your background image and hitting f8. choose a name, and there's your symbol. If you dont understand this, please check out adobe's tutorials from the help option of your flash program.

Response to: Collab Question Posted February 23rd, 2009 in Game Development

ya, there's no direct restrictions on joining a collab, except any rules the collab-maker themselves have placed.

lemi, the reason his frontward forearm is bigger is because it is mutated. :) Hence the discoloration of his skin, the overdramatization of his nails, etc.

Thanks for the comments, though. :)

lol, thanks for pointing that out cmkinsac. :P

I could do a tutorial on refining sketches, if that would be cool.

Response to: Eat Lead: The collab... Posted February 15th, 2009 in Game Development

um....not really? all you are doing is USING him as the main character, not making a life story.

Response to: Eat Lead: The collab... Posted February 15th, 2009 in Game Development

I give up. fuckers. >:(

on another note, is anyone looking forward to this game? It looks ok, and looks more like an exploitable concept for us flash artists to use.

Response to: Eat Lead: The collab... Posted February 13th, 2009 in Game Development

make the guy matt hazard, and make it epic :)

Response to: please help on my collaboration Posted February 13th, 2009 in Game Development

Hahahaha, that movie was awesome, I absolutely love your humor. If this collab doesnt work out, just do a skit, and I bet you will make front page. :D (of course, you would have to polish it more than that)

Response to: Eat Lead: The collab... Posted February 13th, 2009 in Game Development

oops, how about this one:

Eat Lead: The collab...

Eat Lead: The collab... Posted February 13th, 2009 in Game Development

Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard is, as you will find out, a parody of many of the greatest games in the legacy of video gaming. From duke nukem to Resident Evil, and even Wolfenstein, Matt Hazard has done them all. But as his legacy is ending, the nightmares he will face are only just beginning. This collab is a tribute to one of Gaming's greatest heroes, albeit utterly unreal one, and a travel through his life as a Gaming Legend.

What is the collab really about?
this collab is about us parodying the greatest games we know, from Metal Gear Solid, to Halo, and even Space Invaders, we will try to hit them all.

Ok, well, how do I start?
just post the game you wish to tease and begin away, using Matt Hazard to replace the main character of your chosen game. Only parts of a certain quality will be accepted, but dont worry too much, just polish it as well as you can. (which means no sketchiness, you HAVE to clean it up and color it)

Well, what are the specs for this?
Canvas: 600x350
FPS: 24 (double frame if needed)

Is there any required length to these?
yes, but it is subjective, so just show me what you have whenever you feel it is long enough. (my msn is tomocles@yahoo.com if you wish to speak personally, otherwise send it to my pm box)

How polished does it need to be?
I require that you have a background, that you refrain from sprites (do it all vector), that you have color, and that you check with me before saying you are done. :)

Is that all?
I require a collab compiler with flash cs4, so that we can be sure that everyone is able to participate.
and I will be doing up a menu within next week, so feel free to wait for that to join. :)

Response to: Noir(ish) Style Thread... Posted January 29th, 2009 in Art

I lied. :| apparently there is just a long range of ways to do the noir style. Oh well, mine is closer to the shapes not details side.

Response to: Noir(ish) Style Thread... Posted January 29th, 2009 in Art

:( noir style isnt sin city style, I believe. In noir style, you are trying to capture the subject matter as simply as possible. Hence the use of lighting. I only really know this info from a book called how to draw noir comics. so it may just be his style of noir. Either way, though, I think I did it wrong. :(

Response to: Noir(ish) Style Thread... Posted January 29th, 2009 in Art

ya...thanks for the comment, but I would have appreciated a picture more. :| Also, I am working on improving detail, but I am not the greatest drawer yet, so I opted out of details I couldnt do to make it look good.
