I promised we would wrap up the Treasure Hunt results before Thanksgiving, so here are your winners!
BEST GAME
The winning game is Aura Braver, a shooter that will surprise you with it rule-bending aura field system.
Aura Braver was suggested by Rhete amongst thousands of suggestions this year, so he wins the $200!
ODQ gets an honorable mention for the "A-HA!" moment when you figure out what you're doing.
There's a special place in my heart for a lot of the games featured in the experimental / retro post.
BEST SERIES
The best undiscovered Series is GNU. At the end of the day, we can see Gnu's face amongst the ranks of other iconic characters around here, so he's a legend in the making.
Gnu's author, golfinho, came up repeatedly throughout the Treasure Hunt, making him a gem in his own right!
Gnu was suggested by peixeaquatico, another gem of a user, friend of golfinho and winner of $200 for making the suggestion.
I've also decided to silence all complaints by awarding cash to the CREATORS of the winning submissions as well, so Tugoro, Kinsman and golfinho are each getting $200.
This is why NG is the best place on earth AMIRIGHT?

sr-frogs forwarded me a link to a fun read by an Adobe employee, about what drove the spread of Flash.
The article states, "But history shows that it was Flash's total ecology of creators and audiences -- all the exceptionally diverse people who found value in using Flash -- which successfully drove the later practicality of in-browser video. In a sense, sites like JibJab and NewGrounds made sites like YouTube possible."
I thought it was neat that NG was actually being credited with making Flash itself popular, aside from the fact that our content submission system laid the groundwork for sites like YouTube to follow years later.

Thank you to everyone who stuck around for the past two weeks and tried to watch all these! The goal of this event is to drive exposure to overlooked submissions, so while the results have been a bit overkill, I consider every extra view to be a success.

We're on the 12th day of the Treasure Hunt results but we WILL be done before Thanksgiving! This is why I was planning to change this to a quarterly event after last year - people are finding more and more good stuff each year.

It's Day 9 of the never-ending Treasure Hunt results and we're moving on to GAMES!
But first, I'll announce the winner for MOVIES. The undiscovered gem of 2009 is....
Criminal! It didn't win any awards and never made front page or got put in a collection... And it's just got GEM written all over it.
Tugoro isn't a well-known artist either, although surprisingly I had showcased one of his other movies in a things you missed post this past February.
The finder of the gem and winner of $200 is TURDO.
