You had a good list of picks, I'm sorry that none of them made it to the front page. They were all good picks. I think I was just in a different sort of mood with my selections. :)
<sighs> Okay, I think I had a good list too but that's the way it bounces, I guess. I appreciate your reply. Thanks.
What was the cut off point for the flash movies in the treasure hunt?
I mean... those entries were... actually I put a lot of effort into it. I did a big thing on scouring NG for a year, looking at every movie rated 3.00 and over and I made a list of 30 from that every month. I even made a discription of each one. When I excluded anything that got a daily place or that I thought had been on front page. I noticed quite a few people didn't put attention into that.
The Star Wars one.... (darth=in) I noticed that it was put into a collection and the movie had been moved to the rightful owner. Seems to me that my posting it finally gave it the attention it needed to have the mods fix that problem. It was a good flash. Were all my choices really less amusing then what ended up being put up even "LL- Edd-Black" http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/26 3922 The whole thing of a starbucks being across from a star buc was something I really find helarious.
Is my sense of humor so totally different that none of my 16 ideas were found to be good enough? I've looked at a few of the winners and don't really like any of them. I really thought that my work would have done a bit better. How depressing. :(
If there is a list of finalists, what is it? Also, if you have a list of finalists then you must have had a cut-off at somepoint. When was it? Were my suggestions in time to be looked at? I only got around to it on the 29th ago, so maybe not.
It would ahve been nice if, when you'd read enough, you had made a post saying that you were done and no further entries would be considered at this time.
Ooo, tension while we wait for the winners. O.O
If Wade really wants to get voters to go through everything, instead of just putting out a call he should find a way to disable the waiting period inbetween when you click on a movie and can vote on it. I got highspeed and it takes way too long to wait. Especially now that it's easy to pass movies that are 10k inn size. I did 5 or flashes so but that's all I feel like waiting around for. in times like these the normal judgment for voting doesn't really apply anyway. No one is really looking to judge these things which are mostly terrible. They will blam it or go with the mass voting and try and get free protection points.
I already said they are different accounts. Mr. ASDF ASDF keeps having a different number at the end of" MoleMovies" that go in asending order. It flips to the next number up after the previous uses their allotment. But why are they gray and unclickable? If these are accounts that are currently usable we should be able to get a profile.
Of course, why bother deleting the account in the first place? If your making a new account why bother? I don't get that. The only reason I could think if is the accounts are deleted. Are their other reasons why it could be the case that the name is gray and unclickable with no profile box? Um, if you leave everything blank when making the profile maybe?
As for the movies being spam... The movies themselves don't seem to be spam, per say. Definitely not fine viewing but not spam. Just the way he or they are going about it is spammy.
That's a good point. I have no idea how he's deleting his account but he is. The name is gray so you can't click on it. That means a deleted account.
On Author asdf asdf (TheMoleMovies0) . He; submitted 15 movies which are all taking up space on the judgment area. He keeps deleting his account and then making a new one (changing the number after molemovies. So he goes MoleMovies1, Molemovies2, etc) so he can get past the 2 submissions per day limit. Does that count as spam? Should I whistle using the 'malicious' option? Or would he get them passed anyway and I would be docked points?
It seems like he should be whistled to me. Especially seeing how badly the portal is clogged with submissions right now but I don't want to do it if I'll just be told I should have by the people that look over this stuff.
I spent a year collecting animations from this site so I went through them and picked the ones I think might be funny enough to win.
Okay, here are my attempts:
- Fri Short #1 Wheel Chair
Just a short little funny of a guy that's on a wheel chair that's about to crash. that's good for a chuckle.
- Bob Ross Has a mental
remember watching those little shows where the artist paints on a canvas and makes silly comments ("and now I'll add a happy little bush" and such) so I got a kick out of this one.
- Creativity
It's the amusing story of a slacker and his computer project. Still pictures of the actual creator (this isn't an animation) are used in a stylish manner with a little more then few brushstroke movements and of course, audio narration to keep your attention.
- Joe's Flash Tutorial
You have probably seen a number of cartoons by this point. Ever wonder how it's done? There is a specific program you can get and after you do you have to do some things to make it happen. Here is a fun an interesting little tutorial that was made as a school project. Usually these sorts of things are boring as I don't even have the program that you need to do it but this was pretty witty so I enjoyed it alot even if I can't put the lesson to practical use.
- NSFW's "Cartoon Strip"
This is from the guy that did Ultimate Orgy and other stuff that has made it to front page yet somehow this one appears to have been missed. Definatly time to give it another look. It's an animated strip tease with the emphasis on 'tease'. The black and white animation is simple and cute looking (love the facial expressions the toon man gives) with a great little instrumental song to go with it.
- Inflatable Dad
Short animation for father's day. It's an ad for the new and improved Inflatable Dad. See the many, not so wonderful, things it can do. A nice way to remind us that nothing beats a caring parent. <smiles>
-The Sith Rejects
This is really cute Star Wars concept. The animator has the interesting idea that Darth = "in" (Darth Vader= IN-Vader). Just try and think off all the funny Sith names you can make using this idea. Heh! I have no idea why it hasn't made a star wars collection by now. It's worthy.
- random stuff 1
No story on this one. Many random scenes string together showing mostly bad things happen to stick men <grins>. "Why should I hire you?" "Because if you don't, I'll shoot you". Loved that!
- C.S.P. The Mexican Dance
Okay, it's poorly animated, short, and kind of dumb but I laughed so what the heck tom might too. Little guy does the Mexican Hat Dance when something unexpected happens. Suffice it to say, things end badly for him.
- LL- Edd-Black
This animation had me grinning and laughing throughout. It's an audio recording of a stand up comic doing a GREAT bit on why he thinks there are too many Starbuck Coffee Houses in front of a live audience. The animation that goes with is mostly static but it has JUST enough movements to enhance the audio. Need a good laugh? WATCH THIS! :D
Public Access: PMR1
A cute movie review animation played in the style of the Siskel and Ebert (or whoever that new rewiewer's name is) TV show. The twist for this is that they review a PORN movie. It's pretty amusing having them argue about the merits of the various scenes and actors.
Punto GGG-Real Photo
A card. A call girl. What you see is what you get! Nice twist at the end.
Shave Tonight
From Dustball. Very nice. It's a parody of the song "Save Tonight" by Eagle-Eye Cherry. The author rewrote the lyrics and recorded/performed the song himself. On top of that, the animation itself is actually just an animated storyboard that he created for another animator to use as a guide while creating the "real" version. Plans fell through but he touched it up a bit and added the mouths so it can be seen as-is. How is this not in a music collection? It's also got a ranking of over 4.00 still and no daily place.
The Fuhrer's Face
Great little musical cartoon lampooning Nazism. The song, "Der Fuehrer's Face" is by Spike Jones and is from a walt disney nazi mockery titled "Donald Duck in Nutzi Land" and was created as a a propaganda piece against Germany during WWII.
Clam by the bus
A short little funny on the value of mom's for their annoying... erm angelic brats. I MEAN KIDS! It gave me a good chuckle.
The Mouse (true story)
I found this rather amusing. A man catches a mouse that has taken up residence in his home. Once he has the rodent he decides to kill it in a manner that ends up being very unfortunate for both him... and the mouse. Is it based on true events as the title says or is it an urban legend? You decide.
Lifepoint1
They did the entire Xin series on a mouse and numerous other cartoons. I have read they have meant to get one for quite awhile but didn't have the money. I don't know of they used their cash prize from winning the monthly prize for Xin18 towards a tablet but if not that would be a great guy to hand it out to and I'm sure they would appreciate it. :)
Clocks grabbed all the daily places last year if I am not mistaken and even if not, the daily fifth for last Star Day was a pathetic 3.50 and the daily fourth was only slightly higher and none were above 4.00 and that's WITH the mass voting. I remembered looking at the scores after the daily awards came out and thinking how pathetic those scores were. Quite sad that they couldn't achive anything better.
Sweeping the awards with scores like that are NOTHING to be proud of. It just so happened everyone else happened to submit mediocer flashes. At best. None of those movies managed to get the weekly places which I notice that the Clock Crew sweeped. I had no idea about the 9:00 cut off was only for the daily awards... Heck I thought the daily awards were more like 10-11pm. When is the weekly award cut off?
Too bad the best movies were not released earlier. Still it just goes to show that none of the clones can keep pace with the original, the best, the Clock Crew.
Woot!
My votes:
1. XIN Session
I love LifePoint. They make such good stuff and Xin is one of my favorite series on NG. I'd love for them to win something.
2. Johnny Rocketfingers
As of my posting this I would say JR is the best game of 2006.
3. the YuYu
Great art as always. An easy pick.

10. Echogenesis
Found it. The name of the game is "Die in Style".
Wierd that the flash popped up on the "Classics of the Day" so soon after I posted about it. It was submitted 08/04/2003 01:21AM EST. I've never noticed it posted there before and I have been thinking about it for over a year now.
I'm a bit surprised I missed it when I went over the lists, seeing how it had won Daily First, Weekly Users' Choice and Review Crew Pick but I guess the name threw me.
As I have feared though, it was deleted by the author about a year ago. Too bad. I hope he gets around to fixing and reposting it someday, it was the best "kill the character in various ways" game I have ever played.
I don't unterstand why in every other game the character you kill is such a smuck. They scream and beg for their lives (and sometimes not even that much) but don't really fight for survival. Well... except for that one series that is mostly erased on NG as well. I remember one guy that did games like that but they were too graphic and disturbed me. Plus, the characters were tough but not cool. It's much better when they are both. ;)
Anyway, at least I found out what happened.
Yay?
It's kind of like STICK FIGURE PENALTY only the hero isn't completely lame. There's about a dozen weapons that you can chose to kill him but the subject is allowed to fight back. He had a bunch of cool sayings that you could listen to before starting the game too.
The first option was knives the hero gets attacked by a scientist with a knife but he beats him and then again after that test. He gets killed only on the third try after he has been completely tied down. There was sword, sniper rifle and even a cyborg that would fight and kill him but the best part was using the shot gun which set up a daring prison escape where the hero gets away but not before killing a whole lot of people that tormented him.
The different types of sticks were divided into the blue enforcers, the, um, white (I think) scientists and the black hero who is actually a criminal that has murdered countless people before being caught.
It was the most awesome "chose the stickman's death" game I have ever seen. I think it was released in 2003 or 2004. I don't understand how it cannot be in the stick games collection and I can't even find it when I look under past daily 1st and 2nd place winners. I am sure it got at least second.
Does anyone know what I am talking about? Was it erased? It was just such a great game I can't believe I can't find it.
First off, I passed the one year mark in the 15th of April so I will comment on that.
by the end of my first year (April the 14th) I had 3520 points. I think I got a signing bonus so lets say I have deposited 351 times this year.
So 365 days minus 351 means I missed only 14 days or 2 weeks worth of deposits for my first year as an official NG member. Huzza!
I thought about posting this by itself but I decided to wait as I was going to level up soon anyways.
>>>On to the second, official, level up post:
I, Toma O'Two Tattel, became a level 12 Newgrounder on today's date of April 27nd, 2006 with 3,650 experence points. This is 4 months and 5 days after I became a level 11 Newgrounder on December 22nd, 2005 with 2,450 experence.
I am ranked # 2,363 out of 976,660 users. When I did my level 11 update I was ranked #4,007 out of 882,141 users.
There are also a total of 78,172 flashes in NG at this date. When I last leveled there were only 70,925 flashes.

Ba, I hate the boxing gloves. I can't wait until I finally get to level 13 which is the first big improvement, as far as I am concerned, since I became level 9. It's interesting looking back at how things grow in such a relatively short time.
Okay, I think that's all the important things from my latest level up. Oh and it only took like 10 to 11 months to become one of the top 200 monthly award voters. Not a year like Tom Fulp said. He liiiiied to us! :P
At 3/2/06 07:33 PM, liljim wrote:
When the vote system was first released, users complained that those entries which came alphabetically were given some sort of advantage, since they're first on the list (which didn't come out true with any of the logic, given that many of the entries that won were those that began with the bottom of the alphabet). Wanting to please the crowd, the ordering was changed so that it's at random for each page invocation.
Hmm, well I guess that makes a kind of sense. It's really disappointing that people that people don't trust the other voters enough to complain like that. Anyone who has gotten to a top 2000 experience ranking really should care more about NG then just to vote for the first flashes he sees.
It's a real pain though, I have been here every day last month and have watched every flash that had achieved a 3.00 score and higher but even with that, I can't remember it all and the chaotic way it's listed makes trying to remember my favorites a real bother. Until I was reminded in this forum here I had forgotten about PrettyPrettyBangBang v.41 which is a game I liked and would have voted. Alphebetical order probably wouldn't have helped for that one but it would make it a tad easier.
As a compromise idea, why not list them in alphabetical order but have the starting point randomized? So instead of it always starting at "A" titled flashes it might start at "T" and when you refresh is begins at "M" that way nothing is assured to be at the top of the list but at the same time things are orderly enough to find the flashes you want more easily. Another idea. How about dividing the flashes into a games group and a movie group? That would make it easier to browse through what you want as well. I'm not saying divide the 10 award choices into 2 groups mind. That idea has been done to death. Just the listings. I am pretty sure I would have noticed PrettyPretty if I had had the opportunity to look around on a list that was solely listing games.
Yes. Read through my post history (and pay attention to the posts that have been made in the news forum) - your answer is there, somewhere.
Done, I went back 10 pages and the nearest I got to an answer was when you said that the point difference was similar to having it as first place gets 10 points, second get's 9th and so on.
I couldn't help but notice the huge red font you used to mention no editing will EVER be implemented while going back. Obviously that's a subject that comes up a lot. NG is like the only forum that I post where editing is not allowed. I just thought that it was something that was not gotten around to yet. Wierd. Don't you know that all the cool kids are allowing editing? :P I also found the small article on how to write emails to Wade interesting. Some stuff really should be stickied and then when the subject is brought up just provide a link so your not talking about it again and again.
Thank you for replying to my post.
Also thanks to Mr_CraZy77 who corrected the band name I was using. Lemon Demon. Got it now. I'd edit and correct my post but SOMEONE doesn't think being able to do that is a good idea. Heh!
PS. I had hopes that listing the reasoning behind making my choices in my last post would inspire some discussion on what's deserving or inspire others to do the same. Guess not. Oh well.
Yay! After 10 months of depositing (since I became an official member) I have finally managed to become one of the top 2000, active users (although I am actually only the 2,858th top user). I'm sure I will get that number down further though as time goes on. My point total as of February 28th was 3,090exp. I wonder what the experience is for the lowest person that qualified? I can't be too far. I wonder how much higher that minimum will be in another year. Something to maybe keep track of. Wow, almost a million users and I am right up there at the top after only 10 months. That's pretty incredible.
I wanted to do that neat box, screen capture like you guys do but I have no idea how you managed it and even the long screen capture didn't work for me because it doesn't all fit in my 17 inch monitor. How do you do the picture that has the list with the first five and the second five, side by side?
Another thing that I have to say, now that I can vote, it's that it's a bit unwieldy. The flashes don't even seem to be in alphabetical order and it's really easy to mess up. When I click a place for a flash and then decide to change it, it pops up in both places. What's with that?
Also, does it make any difference in what order you pick them? Does everything you pick get one point or is there a sliding scale. Like first 2 places get a full point while the last two get only half a point. I haven't seen any of these questions addressed before (though I may have missed them) so an answer would be appreciated. Thanks!
Well, here are my votes and a little bit of the reasoning behind them. I want to make a positive contribution to this process and have tired to follow the guidelines that Tom has asked us to follow. I think all of these choices have merit.
1. One- A short
- A great title that connects with the film in an unexpected way, nice ending, decently animated. A definite thinking man's short. I like how the author used abstract animation for this as well. I really felt this movie all had a certain quality to make it my choice for best of the month.
2. Ghost Out Part 2
- I love a well made film noir detective movie. This was my personal favorite of the month.
3. Neighboring Nations
-Another good movie about a fanatically devout Christian. Original characters and high production values.
4. Primal War 4
- This original series keeps improving. High time that one of it's episodes gets a monthly recognition.
5. Chase 'n' Pac-Man
- Great little parody for Pac Man. I'm not sure how much of this was stolen from the Family Guy joke that it admits to robbing and it *is* a bit short. It may not be as deserving as some of the others but the artist is a great contributor to NG with all sorts of creative ideas and it WAS pretty funny... I think a win here is deserved.
6. Time Squad [Part 1]
- Blockman is another great flash that has started here. The author has done great things with this series and I think a monthly award would be a good show. I'm not a big fan of nut jobs like Block but the addition of the conscious really gives a nice dimension. It's also grown on me a bit since I saw the first episode. I picked this over Blockman 6 because he put more work into it and he's got his first multiple arc story here.
7. Geeks In Love
- Wow! That Sour Lemon band is really becoming the NG band of choice. There are other original song that get used here too but this is the first time that the bad behind the songs really is making a name for themselves here on NG that I know of. They keep pumping out all these neat songs and letting popular artist use them for animations here. It's really nice to have this sort of thing so there is a real alternative to using copyrighted songs. Quality stuff. It deserves recognition. We need more of this kind of collaboration. Best way to do that is with positive reinforcement aka, high scores, lots of views and winning awards like this one.
8. LR: Prelude
- Yea, you can say it's "just" a fight movie but it's well made and uses original characters. They put a lot of time making this and that is exactly what NG wants to promote.
9. Mc Donald's videogame
- I'm not big into games and I didn't see anything that really wowed me. Not a fan of most side scrollers and defend your bases and whatnot. However, to ignore games completely would be unfair as they get 5 awards too and need to be voted for. I feel a person should at least vote for 2 of either movies or games if they favor either medium. Minimum! So I will.
-Anyway, this game seems to be an intelligent, resource management game. Played it for a bit and it seems okay.
10 Warbears
- Nice graphics good puzzle solving. There is room for improvement in this series. It didn't end when you make a game losing mistake and there is no checkpoints so you have to start all the way at the beginning when you lose. Still it's pretty fun and you have to do a fair bit of thinking to make something this deceptively complex. Kudos to the author of this. I hope to see more.
Now I wait to see how it pans out. *sits back and relaxes*
I'm really surprised that "Final Fighting Fantasy Chapter 13: Showdown" didn't make it to the top 20. I would have expected more bleed-off from the people that voted for 8-Bit to have also voted for that. It's one of the first, the longest running Final Fantasy epics on Newgrounds plus it's more original, with MUCH better animation, unique music and an incredible storyline to it. How did this fantastic flash end up so marginalized?
I'm happy that 8-Bit won though. It's script is also not stolen. It is an adaptation that was made with 8-Bit Theater's author's (Brian) complete approval. They are long time fans of 8-Bit. Just because the original author isn't making the movies doesn't mean he can't let someone else do it for him and that ALSO doesn't mean that they can't get donations for making it or the prizes here on NG for doing it. Brian is happy for them and if he has no objections... Really, why should you?
They might not even have even put this or other flashes on Newgrounds if it wasn't for the fact that, due to copyright suing concerns (and the fact that animations have been stolen from them and put up here before, I remember that incident clearly. Meddos soon started posting his 8-Bit VS flashes here soon after) Brian won't let 8-Bit animations be hosted on his website anymore.. NG was picked because it's one of the few places that gives the author full ownership over his stuff. This is NOT going to go to a rip-off site like ebaums. The money is nice. The fans are nice but this was done primarily for Brian and to expose his wonderful comic on a different kind of way.
No one has really talked about "under the mistletoe". The song for that was just as original as "the ultimate showdown" was, it fit in with the Christmas season and the animation was much MUCH better then Ultimate's was. I had really hoped that such a quality work would have made it. Maybe it was just too mushy for too many of the NG audience to manage. Ah well.
PS: Congratulations to the winners.
I, personally, really dislike "Wade, I'm Coming Home" flash. I am really surprised that no one else in this thread seems to be bothered by it (instead everyone goes after Foamy once again).
It was a vehement defence of SevenStar being deleted. Someone that didn't know the history might think that Wade was unfair to take part on banning him (he CERTAINLY did not do this alone). It wasn't, I wonder if that movie would have scored as high as it did if it was mentioned WHY Sevenstar was banned.
It is well known, to most of us at NG, at least, that linking to child pornography results in deletion of one's account. SevenStar did it and he paid the price. Just POSSESSING child porn is enough to get you jail time, let alone flaunting it around like Sevenstar did. Wade did nothing wrong. Now I know, I know, Wade reviewed the movie and gave it a thumbs up in a review. That's nice that he could be such a good sport about it. Perhaps he's not as bad as you SS members make him out to be, hmmmm?
I just can't understand why. Defending someone that posted child porn, for WHATEVER reason is... just so offensive to me on a fundamental level. Going though the review replies I heard the author say that doing this was kind of a joke for the SS but I am not laughing. If I knew a member that did that I would distance myself away from him. It very puzzling as to why the SS doesn't, founder or not. There are some things that just cross a line. I thought kiddy porn was one of them. Am I wrong?
I don't understand why a submission DEFENDING the child porn poster was so popular by long time NGers for the monthly award.
Seriously, why did so many people, that knew the background of the situation, like it?
I, Toma O'Two Tatle, became a level 11 Newgrounder on today's date of December 22nd, 2005 with 2,450 experence points. This is 3 months and 24 days after I became a level 10 Newgrounder on August 29th, 2005 with 1,370 experence.
I am ranked # 4,007 out of 882,141 users. When I did my level 10 update I was ranked #8,372 (about that anyway, I posted my original level up post a few days late) out of only 820,084 users.
There are also a total of 70,925 flashes in NG at this date. I think I'll keep track of how this number grows as my level does as well.

Well I haven't been posting in the BBS much since my last level up. Nor have I written many reviews since then. Still the few I DID do were long and of quality. If I'm not ready to spend an hour on a review I don't bother. I want to be better then those "I loved/hated it" types. Oh well, I am still on track to becoming one of the monthly voters.
Now, when I get to level 12 I can look back on this post and see how I have progressed. Then compare the two sets of stats in my next level-up post.
You know people, while you are directing all the venom to wards the Hurricane Foamy episode and blaming it on fanboys you are missing something.
IWillPress unleashed a second flash for the last month. If it was REALLY all about Foamy fans why wasn't that flash shown in the top 20? I'd be willing to bet that I know why. It was probably picked because it spoke to so many people. Have you read the reviews for it? It has over 2000 ('The Little Girl' is the only flash in the top 20 that comes close at 1600+. Still far short and it has been out for a much longer amount of time then Hurricane, relatively speaking) of them and even a cursory glance of 2 pages worth can tell you that it invokes PASSIONATE RESPONSES! The viewers watch it and either the say this is total crap (as you all have been doing) or they say that this rant is so on the nose that it's the best thing out there with VERY little middle ground in-between.
Everyone that says this is just a Foamy fan boy thing is completely missing the point and not even TRYING to understand why it placed 15th. Get a clue and stop mindlessly insulting something and asking "how could this happen?" without bothering to think about it for a minute (unless you just want to mindlessly hate). It's NOT about the quality of the flash. It's about the hurricane and people are still raw over it.
So how about being a tad more sensitive to those that voted for Foamy, huh? They may have had family members that suffered and seeing this animation quite possibly was just the sort of thing they were saying to themselves beforehand.
It's really great Ramagi won. Having such a well known personality makes me feel that if it can happen to her it can happen to me too. It's not some almost impossible thing to get like the lottery.
A very big congratulations Ramagi.
I think that the reason that Foamy got so high is because of what he said. The Foamy flash was the ONLY hurricane related submission worth anything for last month and I think voters may have really emphasized with that and wanted to show it by voting the flash. That's the only reason I can think of for the high placing.
I'm a bit surprised the 'Newground Tribute' didn't do better. I know it was kind of boring but usually that kind of stuff really seems to sell. Like the 'NG Calculator' last month. I am happy for Strangeclock though. He's one of my favorite animators and it feels good to see him up at #1 for the award. There are some movies I would have liked to see win but I don't have any objections to the ones that managed. They are all deserving.
The games however.... I was REALLY hoping "Doomrunner" would make it and I am a bit disappointed that 3 henti games got in the top 5. Also, the desktops game... I never would have thought it was THAT popular. I wonder if having "Desktops of the Future!" win will get other people making more of this type of game. Once in awhile is okay but I wouldn't want a glut of them.
"Field Command 2 "
Size 9,483.3Kb
I didn't think NG accepted files this big. I wonder if there is an upper limit as long as it is compressed properly. Has anyone seen a larger one?
I remember an older submission "FDA - ASSWARP"
It stood at 6,545.4Kb.
On 03/27/2003 Asswarp was the largest filesized, flash animation on record. This statistic has been beaten a number of times since then but not by overly much. This game just blows it away and it makes me start to think that maby it's time to up the meg limit for normal entries.... Computers have come a long way on the past few years.
On the other hand the more room you give the more noob animators can abuse the limit so perhaps it's best this way but as this animations shows, you shouldn't be afraid to make something big. You don't HAVE to split it up. I'd be willing to bet NG would take ones that are over 10,000 Kbs or even 20,000 Kbs as long as it was well done.
I was kind of disappointed FC2. I hated the action elements. The choices seemed less obvious or even confusing. I misunderstood what actions meant at the time and the time limits for certain choices were too short. I always panicked on them and picked the first choice and died <sighs>. He don't need to make it so short, 10 to 20 seconds gives you a bit if pressure without making you rush.
I died too many times at the jeep stage and then I had to start from the beginning. Plus, it went a bit long on the set up before action happened which bored me. It didn't feel as smooth in playing either. Possibly because my computer isn't quite up to snuff in handling the flash. It was also shorter compared to the first one, especially when you take out the jeep minigame (which I really hated). Also, those dang first person shooters. They were totally against you. You play it and think that you could win but you can't, so I wasted time which got me frustrated.
I really wanted to be wowed by this game but I come away with an "eh". Oh well.
Well, I turned level 10 on august 29th, 2005, I think that is the date. Only 5 days ago, I had finally broken through the barrier with 1,370 points. To the first really important ranking score. Getting from level 1 to 9 was a breeze compared to the long hall of 10.
It wasn't so long ago when I had nothing. On April 15, 2005 I had FINALLY officially joined NG (should have done it years ago. If for no other reason then I didn't always have pop up blocker back then, lol) and was at the bottom of the ratings.
Jeez, when you look at how many people there are now, 820,084 users, it's just unbelievable that I am currently up to #8,372 and that is a few hundred better then I was only 5 days ago. I think I was just below the #9,000 mark at the time, #8,986 maby?
I decided to mark down the occasion then by writing up a review and then adding my stats in it but it was erased on me. If I had just left it as "I don't like your flash" it would have stayed but try and mark down your current statistics and all of a sudden it's abusive... Sheesh.
I think I will do it now. I really want to have this to look back on when I get to level 11 and with each additional level. Hope no one minds. Posting this DOES seem appropriate given the topic heading.

Now when I get to level 11 I can look back on this post and see how I have progressed. Should be interesting.
Ahhh, so THIS is why I suddenly moved up to a silver a few days ago. Great! Nice to know that, even though it takes awhile, the flagging does eventually come foreword.
I am on my way now, in only a few short months, I have gotten a silver whistle level, an Elite Guard Private First Class Badge, and I am ten days away from level ten in experence. Woot!
Not sure anymore if whistle points can work as well as they do for experience and b/p points. For the whistle, you get your points in spurts. Seems to me that the only time it changes is when there is a big clearing of stuff which is then followed by long periods of inactivity.
An interesting day to be sure, I went from 1990 b/p points to 2230 b/p points in a single 24 hour period.
I started trying to be objective but as the hours went by and I lost out on more and more points, I succumbed to the will of the wisp. I couldn't even be bothered to make it a 2 by the end because I was going though the submissions so fast and furious that sometimes I would slip and give a 0 or 1 instead of the 2 and I WANTED those points!
1,069 entries, WOW! Only 204 deleted as well, I saw over fifty pieces in judgment at the same time before I went to bed at 8AM. Just absolutely incredible and I'll admit it, fun! There is something I found exhilarating about just voting high without even looking at most of the movies. Such a crazy day should only be done once a year though. I hope the lock, glock and start syndicate days (along with future copycats) never get as bad.
Congrats Strangeclock, not only did you make the FIRST submission for the official clock day but you also got daily feature.

It was a JOKE! I thought I had made that clear with the "woooo" and the ":P" and the "must pick a person that no one could possibly object too".
How much more clear could I have been without actually saying I was joking in my last post (which I seem to have to do now)?
<tisks at humorless people>
I've actually been a regular on NG for awhile, much longer then my start up date indicates. I like Legendary Frog but I also know about how many people hate him (I think it's a shame too. There is no reason to harass a good contributor like LF. Go pick on the rotting corpse of Pijonco, who has apparently died for real this time). To be honest, I knew that Foamy made a fair chunk of change with merchandising too. I just didn't really consider that at the time when I was writing my earlier posts in this forum and instead focused on people that I saw submit a lot whose stuff I liked to watch as counter examples to the scary and gross tactics coupled with the meandering pacing of Firth.

I don't think you understand. Illwillpress has a merchandising line at Hot Topic, which is like everywhere. Firth may sell merch on the internet, but Illwill sells merch everywhere. If I was raking in that kind of money off my intellectual property and won $250, I'd probably give it back, or blow it on something rediculously uncalled for. (Like a hammock)
Alright, I give up on that one thing.
I retract my statement that foamy should win a monthly award as he's making a mint of his product anyway and WHEN I get to vote for a monthly award (I will get there eventually, I officially joined just before this new award started and I have religiously put in my experience since. So another 8 months?) I will not vote for Foamy. lol
Still don't like Firth though. >.<
Instead I will vote for, (must pick person that NO ONE could possibly object too) um...
LegendaryFrog! Whoooo!
:P

The reason why new stuff is getting categorized is because I want to stay on top of it. If I waited a month to add something to a collection, I would completely forget about it. We'll probably have to do some pruning later.
I have been doing a lot of maintenance with old submissions as well, using both NG search and recommendations from users. The Madness collection keeps GROWING AND GROWING and I set up a page for Poninjas since it also has a lot of fan tributes. It's such a giant web of related content.
We have lots of plans to better publicize the collections and series, it just takes time to implement them because NG has become such a beast nowadays.
YES!!!
THE XIN COLLECTION PAGE IS UP!!!
Thanks Tom! :)
WOW, all the music for this series is original too? I didn't know that, makes it even more deserving for accolades! Your reasoning about adding new submissions to the collection page makes sense too. I guess I was thinking that an auto timer could be added to each submission so that no one could vote to add it to a collection until X many days after it was first submitted. Then if people still wanted to add it they could start voting and then it would get in the requested list and eventually be added. Meh, maby a bit too ambitious an idea on my part.
Pruning will almost be a guarantee eventually. New things are being added every day to those collection pages now. There is just so much too watch. I wonder how that will end up being implemented. Every time you take something off will users vote to put it back up again? Heh!

Thanks! My first fan reply. Woot! In fairness though, I would NEVER have Tom disqualify Firth or anyone else just because they win a lot. The people of NG have spoken and if they decide that he deserves the money who is Tom to say no? That post was a call for the other users to stop giving Firth so much money that he never thanks us for. Which is not limited to Firth, of course. It's just more obvious in his case since he has won so much. I truly like NG voters being acknowledged.

Fair enough, I hadn't really considered that Iwillpress makes money off Foamy, he probably does so yea perhaps not the best person to win a bunch of awards here. Still Firth gets money of merchandising too. So don't use that as a reason to vote Firth instead. At the very LEAST, he has a line of t-shirts that can be easily found on his website. So I still vote for Foamy winning because I like ranting better then the creepy creeps <shivers@ Firth's creepy creep type stories> of Firth.
Or Knox? I love his claymations and he makes a lot or he did until he started his movie project. Or Lifepoint1? I am SUCH a fan of their work!I'm not sure if they even submitted this month. What does that have to do with anything?
<Sighs> Perhaps I was unclear. No, Knox has not submitted this month. Probably because he is working on his movie as I stated. When he is done though he will likely start submitting things at his usual speed. He is, after all, is one of NG's top ten most prolific submitters. He has also submitted a few flashes in the past since the monthly awards started. I would rather he won with his silly claymen then Firth scary, kill you in your sleep and then eat your corpse, characters.
As for Lifepoint, they submitted the latest Xin. XIN!!! How did you not know this? It only got 19th place though. The previous month they submitted "Surface" and it didn't even place in the top 20. I like their stuff so much I would MUCH rather they win.
All three artists make good products and add many submissions but they never get any monthly awards (yet).Well we must wait and see.
That's why I said "yet" in brackets. Currently though, they do not win. Nor do other monthly submitters, at least to the extent that Firth has (the next highest is at 2 or 3, I believe).
The point I was making is there are MANY people that make awesome movies and deserve the cash too but Firth is the only regular contributor (regular means 1 or more submissions, every month or possibly every 2 months and I won't count the games category in this as the workpool is SOOO much smaller.Yeah he does win every time. He’s got a good reputation for himself already. I know it's a big competition, but there is still 4 more possible winners for the movies category. So he's not hogging everything up. That means you will just have to work a lot harder.
So do Knox, Lifepoint and Foamy. Okay Iwillpress could work harder on his stuff. The animations are pretty static but Lifepoint1 puts a LOT of work into their animations (and they do all drawings with a mouse, not even one of those digital sketchpads which an award could help buy. Not easy) and I believe that Knox does too. Face it though, how much effort can you REALLY put in if you submit every month? Not as much as you would for the Xombie or "There She Is" series. The fact is, Firth does NOT put in the intensive super effort that other artist do. He's more interested in constantly new ideas. Which is perfectly fine (I don't fault it in the least, he has an admirably imaginative mind that would not be best suited working on the tame thing for so long) but it's also likely why he never gets first in the monthly awards, he just doesn't add those extra touches that past first place winners do. He still wins constantly though, possibly because of fanboy interest in him as an author and not so much because of his individual works.

David Firth submits awesome movies and deserves the cash. :)
As for collabs... The organizer will receive the t-shirt and money. It is up to him to split it up among the group as he sees fit. For a submission like a game where there is an artist and a programmer, I will probably send out a t-shirt and check for $125 to each (like I did for Luis and NegativeONE when Muscomorpha won), but for larger collabs, I don't even want to start to figure out who gets what, since some users contribute a lot more than others and only the organizer really knows. Hey, it's the risk you take when you are part of a collab. :)
Grrr, I don't like Firth. He's creepy, creepy, CREEPY! And way too prolific for his own good. :(
If we MUST give cash to someone every month... How about Foamy? Iwillpress puts out movies on a monthly basis as well. That poor squirrel needs more money for nuts. Or Knox? The madness must stop people! Vote for someone else! lol
On to the monthly awards. Great, that was the answer I was hoping to hear, anything else just goes down into a big bundle of confusion. Thanks Tom.
