The game is 8 years old. You must have a very twisted perception of the "macs can't play games" stereotype.
Everyone in this thread has a very narrow perception of art. Art is not just the things that you would expect to see in an art class, such as paintings and sculptures, but anything that influences you in any emotional way, including architecture, photography, cinematography, and video games.
"Art is the process or product of deliberately arranging elements in a way to affect the senses or emotions."
The argument therefore is not Are video games art, but rather What is your definition of art? From what I can tell most people on newgrounds are being overly strict, but that's their choice.
If you wanted a similar discussion, you could debate the meaning of perfection or the meaning of the word "normal". Art is self defined.

Dom they have symbolism? Cultural significance? Thematic depth?
Why are they art?
What makes these game artworks as opposed to say Grand Turismo, Oblivion, or Call Of Duty?
You can't argue art. It's all variable to the person. Someone might see art in a macaroni painting, I see it in video games.
Why are movies art and not video games?

On that note, I never played a game where the main character was fat. Idealism much?

Play Shadow of the Colossus or beat Silent Hill 2 and anyone can understand what art in video games truly is. You can't hand someone Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing and expect them to see the art, just like you can't convince someone that movies are art by handing them Transformers 2.

Does nobody remember the Milo & Kate demo from 09? (for some reason not shown at E3 this year) I mean, that's mind blowing shit.
That's pretty much the proof that it transcends far beyond simply motion control. With the wii or the move you can't have voice conversations with in-game characters, and look at 4:20 in the video when she scans the drawing into the game as if it weren't even a game at all.
Just saying, it's more than just another motion control as everybody seems to be saying. Not to sound cliche, but it seems like the way forward in gaming immersion.
I own a 360 and I know Milo is bullshit. Cmon, Peter Molyneux? Yeah right, biggest bullshitter of all the gaming devs.
That kind of interaction is decades away. That was a pre-designed, acted, rehearsed performance. Just look at the "Tigers" tech demo at E3 and see how little you can do, based really off of the same concept.
Well, is the merchant paying for shipping or amazon? Amazon has a lot of deals that cut shipping or eliminate it, like that new special account that you can get a free trail of for a whole month.
Theres so many of these online rpg's now, and they're all the same. Theres always those people that are willing to pay the extra money for better gear than you.
It's not horrible. Atleast your voice is understandable and not eastern european or anything.
Other than youtube (and NG), what other game related forums are there where you could advertise a youtube channel of let's plays?

Aside from the incredible depth of the crust you also seem to disregard the massive amount of heat down there. Far too hot for people and hot enough to melt most metals.
Most of you seem to misunderstand "hypothetical" reasoning.
Within two thousand years, digging as deep as the mantle is a perfectly realistic accomplishment. This topic goes to as far as the laws of the universe will take it. Also, I'm sure there are still metals far more powerful than the strongest steel. Technological advances will find new metals and create new formulas for indestructible, heat resistant, moon-attaching materials.

Well, happy to see that "moon connected to earth" is not on that list.

At 3/25/10 12:01 AM, BluePikmin wrote: The earth rotates, that elevator would break like your moms hymen.
If the two were attached, hypothetically, by the strongest material available in the universe, wouldn't the rotation of the earth simply rotate the moon with it? The moon would be over that same spot where it is connected with the earth, forever.
The scenario is this: The moon of a planet, lets say earth, is attached to said planet through physical means such as a manmade tunnel or thick cable.
The question here is not if it would be REALISTICALLY possible to connect the earth to the moon, but in the most general PHYSICAL sense.
Now, taking the question further, if the moon was brought close enough to the earth so that the two surfaces were touching, what strange effects would there be on earthly physics? How would gravity be affected standing between the moon and the earth, or standing on the opposite top of the moon from the earth. How would this affect the orbit of the earth around the sun? Would this affect seasons or the time of day? There are tons of interesting changes.
I found the idea interesting, so excuse me if it all seems too far fetched. I personally think it would be absolutely possible, and strongly believe that there must be a planet somewhere in this universe that is merged with one or more other planetary bodies.

This guy does not take any of the advice that is given to him, and most of the time lashes out against constructive criticism.
Over 14 times he has made threads requesting an artist.
14 separate topics within less than a year, he has failed to hook an artist to work with him, and somehow it's gone unnoticed. Don't waste your time, just move on, he'll understand eventually that he'll need to show a bit more than yada yada yada.

Alternatively.
on (release)
{
stage.securityString = stage.securityString + numValue;
}
This would need to be put on every button and you would need to create a string to concat the values into and a value for each button.
The original method is better but this is easier.
Are there any specific tutorials for button string inputs? I'm finding this all very overwhelming, and since keypads and security inputs are used a lot in coding and games I thought it would be a common request.
I have no idea how to concat the values etc, so maybe I'm better off just making it a text box with input text instead of buttons.

Hey, I really appreciate the quick response.
However, I really don't have too advanced of a scope of programming and I tried to figure out what exactly the code was doing and I couldn't. I've never set up an array in AS2 so it's just a little bit intimidating. Any comments that you can provide would really help me out.
Hey, I'm making an escape the room game, and was just wondering how to make a keypad that will input the numbers that you press.
For example, if I press 1 it will put 1 into the text field, and if I press 3, then it will put a 3 after the 1. Thats the part that is tripping me up, only thing I got it to do was add them up which is not what I need.
I only need 4 spaces as it is a 4 digit lock, and I only have numbers 1-9.
Thanks for any help.
you should just make your own board game, and make it however you want with as little amount of pieces.
Somehow I thought the dentist was associated with negative emotions.

Not too many good horror games, I absolutely agree.
Not bad, your better than me :D

Except I was going to call it Cell. It would take place inside the human body, where you fought off diseases as a white blood cell.
After killing enough diseases you would eventually split and form 2 white blood cells, and you would continually split into a max of 100 different blood cells.
At the 100 level of blood cells your cell evolution would be set in stone as you went around killing things in the body like HIV, Cancer, and clogged arteries. You would be able to do different formations with the cells and crap that would let you have a strategic advantage over different fighting cells.
Hopefully I could increase the white blood cell max amount by 100 or 200 using AS3.
Of course, this is my idea and you won't steal it :P . I hope to be able to see your finished project.
That sounds like a really cool RTS game, but that not what we're working on. We wont steal it, dont worry :D
We hopefuly won't have the whole game in the microscopic stages. I'd like to see the game out in the wild. It all depends on the power of AS3 and our drive to make the game.
This game is going to be pretty cool if it works, but I dont knw if you can pull it off. Its too hard to do, I've tried programming before.
