to me the shoulders look like a problem especially the deltoid and trapezius muscles.
but i can say that if its for the personality and characterization of this person individually, then it can work
Actually he was to be the only character with these larger muscles. He's a villain and his master makes all of his students carry their own stone coffins. He's also the star pupil. But I do feel I need to make some changes in the shape of the trapezius muscles like you said.

Very helpful, I'll remember that when I redraw them.
I posted this topic a couple months back, I haven't been able to reply and I think it's against the rules here to bump old topics so Instead I'll give an update. I drew the character named Houjun(Joe)Phoenyx for a comic book series by Eat My Leg Entertainment. When I posted this I got some great feedback. I am a bit of a perfectionist so I appreciate anything negative you find in my art. I consider myself a growing artist, I've never attended a single class and I'd like to improve as much as I can so I can continue pursue my dream to become a great art designer for a hit video game. I got comment a while back saying the I needed to make the shoulder muscles a little less swollen. Because I personally enjoy the swollen look on his muscle I've hesitated to change it but if it really doesn't work for him I will change it. I'm posting this topic again because now the I have a new tablet I'll be able to finally make some progress on my digital portfolio. Hit me back and tell me what you think. Oh and I should include that the only thing I've been able to add to the piece since last night is his right hand and a few color changes.

I'm sincerely confused by how you positioned your muscles. I know it's probably supposed to be an exaggeration, but in my opinion it looks too wrong to work.
I feel a bit stupid saying all this, because you're obviously pretty awesome. But the shoulder just bugs me a bit.
I understand what you mean. I should try and work on those shoulder muscles. It is an exaggeration but I wouldn't want to exaggerate it to the point where it looks confusing, so I'll take that into consideration. Thanks for pointing that out.
I could probably help too. I'm really good with bodies and figures. PM me if you're interested. Check my page for samples.
I suppose I could help as far as the angles and facial expressions are needed. I'm a committed artist and I work very quickly if the concepts are already there. You can contact me at any time. I can drop you some quick sketches at anytime. Take a look at my page if you're interested.
When I was learning Photoshop I wasn't really sure who to turn to either, but I ended up learning in a pretty interesting way. My problem was that I couldn't afford to buy Photoshop, so I tried to google up free programs on the net. I first started with "MS Paint" which introduced me to digital art, then I moved on to "Paint.Net". I bought myself a Tablet, and I moved on to Sketcher which is a free non-downloadable public program that can be found on www.artgrounds.com. After I mastered that, I moved on to Gimp to do private work and shortly after that I found that I was extremely fit to use Photoshop with ease. The programs MS Paint, Paint.Net, Sketcher and Gimp are all free programs and they can serve as stepping stones if you want to master Photoshop quickly. Hope this helps.
I'm a illustrator trying to grow as a concept artist. I'm currently trying to inch my way into an underground comic book group called "Eat My Leg Entertainment". I'm trying to find a style that would work well with their style. You can find their site here - www.eatmylegent.com
I've been trying to become a better with my illustrations, but I just cant seem to find a respectable coloring style. Here's what I've currently been working on for them, He's one of my own characters. I'd also like to get to know some of you artist. I've never had any actual schooling in art and so I only have a few friends who I relate to in the field. I'm having trouble deciding what details I can add to him for example, I'd really like it if someone could come up with a sweet tattoo design to slap on his arm.
Tell me what you think and how I can improve. I look forward to making some friends here.
