I saw an interview with Christopher Guest where he basically said 'It's just a job'.
And it makes sense to an extent, you don't expect Daniel Day-Lewis to be extrovert, loud and have a strong presence when he's at home, or a firefighter to come home and talk about nothing but fires.
I guess depressed people have more of an incentive to find humor in more things and laughter than people who are content.
