I know it's possible to open/check a socket connection in PHP, but it is possible in any way to for example, use AJAX or JS to constantly update the connection say...every 5 to 7 seconds? This way, when the connection status is loaded in a web page, it's not constantly having to be refreshed to see the status?

I was just wondering, and if anyone knows how this works, or a good tutorial on something similar, let me know =D

First of all, fix your grammar. Second of all, making ANOTHER copy of Newgrounds is almost never going to bring in traffic, so your "theory" about paying once the site makes money is rubbish. If you're going to hir a team of coders, you need to look and act professional, and have an idea that nobody has had yet, making it worth our time to even look at this.

Here's a grammar lesson, when you have a pause in your sentence, and you don't really want to end it yet, add a C-O-M-M-A. Please god add some commas, because I can't understand what you're even saying to begin with.

Whatever the cause, good luck with your NG copy, and have fun being a boring bland copy of something great.

2) how are the submissions automatically shown on the homepage??? does some javascript code actually write a new html document every time some1 submits something???

Yea, like they said, with PHP. To better understand the concept, I think of it as one page, just edited based on the ID of the movie, and by referencing that ID, the database can find it's name, length, etc. So just think of it as one page, but for every movie, it edits itself.

That's sort of how I view it, anyway.

If it's FLASH it belongs in the FLASH Forum. I wish people would learn how to read, it would make the world such a better place.

Nevermind, it works, I freaking forgot to save it as a .rar archive, instead of .zip. I wonder if you can embed images into images this way?

I hate it when you write this whole elaborate PHP code and stuff, you test it out, works great. You go to edit it, forgot you deleted a "}" and you mess up you're whole next 3 hours looking for where you missed a "}". Those are really annoying :)

Just send an email to every one on the list, and see what sorta price you can get.

Ah, sweet, thanks for the link. I wont post a demo or anything, because the idea would be stolen, not by you, but other lurkers. I'm going to finish the engine sometime tonight, I hope.

Ew and ew. Can't stand either one of them.

You should be shot. I LOVE those songs, please let me know where you got the sheet music for it, or if you're learning it by ear, I could probably do that as well :).

I like Piano a good bit, and I can play fairly well, and I've never taken lessons :P.

Anyways, what's everyone up to today? I've got a new flash game coming along quite well, almost finished my mock-up engine. The whole thing's a really simple concept, yet strangely addicting at the same time, I hope it does well. I'd love a Daily-anything, a front page or sponsorship would make me lose my mind out of sheer happiness though :). There's no way it'll get either, I don't think, but I'm sure as heck going to try :)

It might help if you spoke ENGLISH. Plus, Newgrounds hand coded all of it's stuff, it's not some CMS like Joomla. The Level pics are all pictures and stuff, created with a computer. That's all the advice I can offer, considering I don't understand you at all.

Response to: The Plane Game 2.0 Posted February 2nd, 2008 in Programming

Graphics aren't mind-blowing? Those graphics look like took absolutely no effort at all to create. The game's movement system is horrendous, and the collision testing is also freaking horrible. I was having trouble with level 2 because the black road kept sending me to the beginning of the level. Work on your graphics, and make the plan smaller, so you're not missing the wall by a freaking pixel.

If this was a flash game, I'd throw you off a building, but since I don't think it is, it's not entirely terrible, but better luck next time.

Thanks for wasting like 5 minutes of my life :S
