But yeah, their new CD, which was a collaborative effort with Lou Reed, is being released on Halloween. It's a little different to their earlier work.

For Lou Reed, he's done much weirder music in the past (have a look at Metal Machine Music) and he already has 40+ years of musical legacy behind him, this record will have little to no impact on his career. But for Metallica, it seems most of their fan base are a bit pissed about the new release. It's a bit fucking ridiculous, I've read so many comments from people saying how they're never going to pay for a Metallica CD or to see them live ever again, and even more have renounced their respect for the band - it's so damn melodramatic. I mean, it could've been worse, they could've made a collaborative album with Hitler.

I still maintain that it's one of the best records Metallica have recorded. And that's saying a lot, considering that I never really liked Metallica to begin with. Lou Reed on the other hand, will always be cool in my opinion.

I guess you could say its kinda like some of the Slipknot fan bases, Not a lot of people like the new sound. For me, being a big fan of both bands, I respect each album they release because its what THEY want to do.. there the artist not the fans.

It really depends. Like right now I'm opted to click "reply and quote", but if you were asking a long question for like a story, it would be "reply to post", if that makes sense.
