Just finished The Dark Tower series and several other Stephen King books which took a TON of time to read. Preferably, dark books but if you know of any other books worth me taking a look into, just mention it.

I just bought this book about an opium addicted time traveller from 1903 who travels forwards in time to an alternate 1973 and finds that the British Empire is still going strong, and rules the world with a fleet of giant Zeppelins. It's called "The War Lord of the Air".

You just know this shit is going to be awesome.

Helicopters are boring. They're in nearly everything.

Oh that game sucked. I got to play it in GameStop yesterday and it was alright for 5 minutes..Lots of raptors.

Modern Warfare 2 doesn't even have ANY raptors in it.

Although, according to Charlie Brooker, there is a bit where a monkey drives a car.

I get a good 8 hours every night, and you couldn't force me to associate with my flatmates. They're animals, woke up on Friday morning, and there was bits of bread from one end of the corridor to the other. How the fuck does that even happen?

Stylisticly he's pretty eloquent.

I'm not arguing that, I like his stuff, but I couldn't sit and read loads of his short stories one after the other, they're all pretty similar.

Either Roddy Doyle or Irvine Welsh. Favourite book is Doyle's A Star Called Henry, but I think Welsh is more consistently good.

Lovecraft might just be my favourite author at the moment - his brand of horror is rather intense and celestial; any other reader of Lovecraft will know that he has an amazing way with his words. Really? I find his stuff very samey. Read one, read them all.

My favourite novella by the guy might be Dagon, although I have yet to read the rest of his works (I've read The Cats Of Ulthar, The Statement Of Randolph Carter and The Doom That Came To Sarnath: currently reading Call Of Cthulhu - halfway through it).

How can you be halfway through Call of Cthulhu? It's like, 20 pages long.

A lot of his stories actually sound genuinely intriquing just from their titles, and trust me, when you start reading them you won't stop.

Some of them are a chore, particularly the longer ones. Like in At The Mountains of Madness, nothing happens for like the first 2/3s of it. Literally nothing, they don't even know they're in danger until then, it's just stuff about drilling in the Arctic.

His stuff is still pretty good though.

MSN now also offering streaming classic Who. Just "The Web Planet" at the minute, but the title says "Doctor Who featuring Tom Baker, William Hartnell and Jon Pertwee", so that might hint at what episodes they're planning to put up next.

Also David Tennant is going to be hosting a Doctor Who themed Never Mind The Buzzcocks, with Catherine Tate on one team, and Bernard Cribbins on the other.

Did you see the "features" they listed to show the PC version isn't just a shitty console port?

Mouse control, graphical options and text chat.

EIGHTY BAJILLION OBJECTS, but you'll only use around 7 of them. Also, most items behave exactly the same was as dozens of other items.

If you preorder online, you'll get it on release day, it'll be factory sealed, untouched by anyone else who's been browsing and it'll cost less.

Game shops are obsolete.

The worst one is when different shops have different pre-order content.

For example, when Arkham Asylum was coming out, HMV had a free poster and cardboard sleeve, while Game had free challenge maps. Or Operation Flashpoint. Game, Play and HMV all offered DIFFERENT bonus levels with their preorders.

Or the new dick move HMV are pulling. Know how the rest of the word got Scribblenauts hats with their preorders? In the UK, they were released through HMV's "HMVpure" rewards scheme, costing £100 worth of reward points to claim.

"Yes, they have managed to achieve colour recovery on The Mind of Evil episodes 2-6 (Episode 1 is apparently unrecoverable due to some setting made in original transmission that prevented the chroma information from being recorded). But the result is far from stable. While some scenes, such as one shown to us from Episode 2, are stunning in how well the original colours were able to be recovered, other scenes are much less than satisfactory. We saw a clip from the climax of the story in Episode 6 where the colours bled badly into each other and there was psychadelic strobing effects when characters moved on screen.

So the short story here is: yes, The Mind of Evil is now (mostly) in colour through a process that seemed like science fiction even a year ago. No, it's not coming out on DVD anytime soon."

Absolutely gutting. Was really looking forward to a colourised version of The Mind of Evil coming out.

"The classic series range will soon be reverting to the branding of the new series and after five years Doctor Who will have one unified brand. And for all those fans who fear for the spines in their DVD collection, BBC and 2Entertain are apparently going to release reversible cover art with the 'McGann' logo still on the opposite side. (North Americans need to start lobbying BBC America!)"

BBC being awesome. Keeping the original style as an option is huge plus for me. Just hope they don't decide to rerelease everything again to fit in with the new branding, as I'd be stupid enough to buy them again.

Doctor Who DVD restoration team have stated they want to release every complete classic serial by November 2013, the show's 50th anniversary.

However, they also stated there are no plans to do any more animated reconstructions like they did with The Invasion, and that no more partially complete serials, like the Lost in Time box set, will be released.
