The Big Lebowski would be a choice of mine. it's a comedy, but a much more cleverly written one than is normal. the humor displayed in the film is versatile. there is more blatant moments like when a ferret is dropped on the dude in the bath tub, and more subtle humor such as how the dude repeats paraphrased versions of the things he hears throughout the film. atop of the great writing, the film is flooded with great modern actors. john goodman, steve buscemi, jeff bridges, julianne moore, philip seymour hoffman. the film also implements interesting cinematic themes, albeit some are more tongue in cheek than actually artistic. scenes like the bowing inspired dream scene. all in all, an awesome movie.

i've always hated talking to staunch anything, liberal or conservative, because all their opinions are spoon-fed to them. their intellect has always seemed to be of the pseudo variety. but perhaps i'm just not smart enough to understand them.
