Well, I'm still interested. It's a great show, I cant understand why people dont like it more. Everyone should go watch the Star Wars special and then imagine if it was an NBG special instead.

I really like Robot Chicken and I love stop-motion. I'm gonna follow this for a while and see how it does. Then I'll make something. I like the idea of doing a NG related sketch in RC style.

Checkout some of my other stop-motion via my youtube page http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ysbCC89pc SM&feature=channel_page

I dont do coding at all but this seems like it would be possible to do a simplified version at the least.
It would only take a way you could convert a drawing into a graphic and then have that graphic be part of a tween built walk cycle.
I guess you better help some advanced AS user comes on here or you could ask someone directly.

Good start definately.
The run cycle looks kinda dogy as some mentioned. I think it doesnt have any vertical motion. When you run, you are kinda bounding up and down and that was missing which made it seem unatural. Also when the foot is forwards it doesnt really look like it is bearing the wweight, just swinging like a pendulum.
The walk suffers slightly from the lack of vertical motion as well but it's much more noticable on the run.
The jump I thought was good but a bit of an odd type of jump to do, no one jumps like that. :D
Good work, keep at it.

He may not be requiring full detailed animation. It's not like you animate every single frame in flash, usually tweens take care of a lot of it.

$200 is just not nearly enough for most people to get involved with this. If you posted up something about the story or increased the money or decreased the duration, maybe.

I am interested to know what you want made.

People keep making suggestions about activities we could do but I totally agree with Luis that we dont really need activities. Some of the most fun times for me at these meets are just hanging out chatting about internet stuff, games and films. Dodgems are great fun and all but just hanging out with friends talkin shit and getting drunk is better IMO.

Topic: How to teach animation class?

Posted: 07/30/09 11:38 PM

Forum: Flash

My mum has taught flash in her school. I went in to help a couple times. She was trying to get kids to understand layers, tweens and symbols.
She would start by having them draw a background, then create a symbol with some frame by frame animation in it and then tween the symbol across the background.

I think she had another example where a spider climbed up a tree.
When I was there the kids didn't care too much so I helped the ones that were interested.
If you are teaching people that actually do want to learn flash, understanding the basics or the timeline, tweening and layers is probably enough to get them started so they can start making their own stuff.
Hope that was helpful

Topic: Have a Story

Posted: 07/30/09 11:18 AM

Forum: Flash

The thing is, obviously this could make a great flash animation if done well but it is not inherently a good story. It has loads small probalems which just made laugh when reading it, they are so ridiculous.
As someone mentioned before, setting it in the future and during world war 3 seems completely uneccessary. It doesn't add anything to the plot at all.
Their names cracked me up, they are like the most cliche 'badass soldier' names I have ever heard, which one of them is black? And let me guess, blade is a knives expert?
As I said in my previous post, what's up with him putting this terror alert on them? Just seems stupid that a high up government agent would do something so likely to get these guys killed.
The whole thing with 'When you put that in your ear you agreed to do the job' doesn't make any sense at all.
The thing I found most ridiculous of all was that 4 soldiers are able to kill this 'ultimate guardian'. I was expecting them to have to go on some other quest to find a powerful weapon or something but apparently guns are good enough.

If someone described a series to me as this it would not interest me in the slightest. There is nothing to like about the characters because you didnt really tell us anything about them, there is nothing to like about the action because you just said 'they fight' so we dont have any indication of what these military men vs guardians are like in combat and overall it seems like a several old ideas strung together.
As I said before, yes, it could make a great flash series, if it is animated well/has good voice acting and sound etc but I, for one, do not find the story AT ALL captivating.
Maybe iron out some of the basic problems with it and try and add a hook, something original we havent seen before, or just try to create some interesting and beleivable characters instead of cliche named 'elite squadies'.

I AM trying to help.

What a stupid idea. If you want someone to work for you you dont go out of your way to get them killed. If he's powerful enough to get them put to the top of the watch list he's probably able to just tell them to go.
I could understand if halfway through the story they are planning to back out or stop him he might blackmail them with that but just to start with that is silly.

As far as finding some help goes. Obviously this is a fairly big story which would take a LONG time to tell so your best best is to write it up into episodes, really short episodes. That way the animator has more of a grasp of how much work they're getting in to.
I don't think you'll find someone though.

Also why do people always come on here hoping to find someone to animate their story and then get all defensive in case someone steals their story? If they 'steal' it, it will be animated!

Draw his chest on a separate layer to the rest of him, convert it to a symbol and them tween it expanding and contracting. Play around with that for the best results. If you dont know how to do a tween then go checkout some of the tutorials here on NG.
Hope that helped
