Not sure if this is metal, but it surely is bloody good. This is a french one-man project and metal-archives says the genre is Experimental Black Metal, but it my opinion it surely is experimental and even avantgarde, but I'm not sure if it really is black metal. You can tell there are metal influences in this album particularly (I still didn't have the opportunity to hear his split with other band and his most recent EP though), but it feels more dark ambient oriented, with some post-rock, drone, jazz, doom and classical influences (as the video description claims, and it's the truth in my opinion). I also think it has a very strong industrial/electronic feeling in it, with that constant aggressive electronic-sounding snare always being hit in an industrial-esque style.

I also find it funny that all the songs on this album are called "sans titre x". And it reminds me a lot of modern Ulver.

Wtf wtf!

I was searching about those japanese Blood Stain Child, which Elixur recommended and I came across with this.

If you don't recognize that melody. Here you go.

Apparently, Eluveitie copied that melody, I don't know, they're too similar for it to be an accident, even in the female voice and some growls. Though, Eluveitie song sucks as it progresses, sounds like Evanescense.

Can you hear what I'm talking about with the Om-like vibe and whatnot?

Yeah, that psychedelic Om vibe, but more stoner rock-ish.

This is what I'm talking about. Then again I'm probably only hearing this because I'm like half asleep at the moment haha.

I think my drummer recommended them to me to get some inspiration for our band Siberian Fire. Pretty amazing stuff.

Response to: London Soldier Beheaded in public Posted May 23rd, 2013 in General

Am I sick for finding his justification not implausible? I mean, a muslim killing a soldier in England, in an irrational act of despair, seeing his people dying in his country by their hands is the end of the world, pure terrorism. On the other hand, american/european soldiers killing both muslim soldiers and civilians (sometimes in humiliating manners) in their countries is taken as something normal and natural.

It's true that they have an extremist religion, and it is true it evolves into a not so pacifist behaviour (as it once happened with christianism we shall never forget), but shooting them to oblivion is not going to help. I don't have the knowledge to go further with this subject, but what I've heard is that, americans sell guns to some groups of middle-eastern/muslim countries, and russia sells guns to other groups, and they all get money in their pockets, they bomb themselves to the ground due to their ideologic discrepancies and that's how shit rolls. Anyway, if someone knows how to explain this better to me, I'd be most thankful.

Also I'm not saying this murder is a good action, no murder will ever be positive thing, nor war, not even religion, in my opinion, though I respect everyone's beliefs, I'm unable to find anything positive in it, due to my personal convictions. But this act wasn't meaningless, and even though it's a crime, which I repeat, I abhor, it saddens me that they let an human die, and claim it was an act of senseless terrorism.

Oh god, I loved this band and specially this album when I was 14 and 15 years old, they were my favourite band back then and seeing this post feels very nostalgic. And I agree with you, this album is certainly their best, it's classic, very epic songs like Halo, Clenching the Fists of Dissent, Beautiful Mourning and A Farewell to Arms. My favourite album from them along with Through the Ashes of Empires and Burn my Eyes.

But that's just the way all pop sounds anyway... so why Japan more than any other country that produces lame-ass commercial capitalist pop crap?

Agalloch - Falling Snow

It's like they're forcing their music to sound like typical western music, and they fail so much doing so. I mean, as you said pop music is just ridiculous, it doesn't matter where, but when it comes to j-pop, it's über-ridiculous. And what saddens me is that they have an amazing folklore, and they don't take advantage from it as they should, in my opinion of course.

Genre-Japanese Melo-death/trance elements

Opinions gentlemen?

I find myself unable to appreciate any japanese band, and it's not even racism, but all japanese music I've listened to just sounds so automatic and devoid of soul to me. I may like the melodies, but the way they're played is awfully soulless, even if you hadn't told us those guys were japanese, I would recognize the sound just for the lack of... humanity in it! It's like someone composed a song and asked robots to play it, but... it's in fact humans playing who sound like robots doing so. The only exception may be Sigh, not a great fan, but the little I've heard from them is actually very good.

It's a portuguese guitar.
Ah. Okay.
It looks weird to me ._.

It's mostly used in Fado par excellence, though Fado is known for its unique way of singing, very emotive, showing suffering, they abuse in vibratos. Nevertheless, I prefer instrumental fado haha, if you're interested you may check out artists like, Camane (Camané but I think the acute accent appears all fucked up), Amalia Rodrigues (Amália), Dulce Pontes, Carlos do Carmo... And for the master of instrumental Fado and portuguese guitar, Carlos Paredes.

It's one of the Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity also!

I need more instrumental or not so much vocal-driven sludge/doom/stoner metal to listen to when I study, because voices distract me and melodic stuff too, and I already had too much Bongripper, Ufomammut, Lento, Sleep, Om, Eagle Twin and Pelican.

Speaking of Varg, I recently dreamt that he had set fire to BBC's television centre. The reportage of it on the BBC was awesome.

I don't know man, Varg's story is very interesting, but that man is a fucking arsehole, there's no better way to describe him, I read some articles he posted on his website and it was sickening, it's like he has an evil turd in the place where is brain should be, he compares white people with wolves and "minorities" with dogs, so, if you put a dog between the wolves they will kill the dog, likewise, if you put, let's say, an asian person among europeans they will kill them as well. So he's pretty much claiming his ability to reason is absent, and he behaves exacly like an irrational animal. Oh boy, I wonder which one is the irrational animal, the wolves or Varg... What a scumbag I must say, well, I can't deny that I find myself unable to accept any type of xenophobia, unless despising xenophobes is considered xenophobia aswell and thus we enter in a paradox. I don't know, did he have a fucked up childhood, did he crush head his into a wall, was it a girl or did he just have a bad experience with immigrants?

He also claims that he fears that one day he won't be able to see any white, blond and blue-eyed children on the norwegian streets, isn't that kind of a pedophile statement?

I'm not an hip hop guy, but besides the ones I mentioned, you need only to spend a couple hours on /mu/ to find more and change opinions.

Yeah, but are they mainstream? When I said modern rap, I should've said modern mainstream rap. And even if those artist make quality music, I may dislike them aswell, hip hop just ain't the sound my ears ask for, so I won't lose my time with it. It jus happens that there are some old rap songs that I find myself enjoying. Also I didn't search for shit, that abundant musical turd is just blatantly blasted into my eyes and my ears whenever I enter a public space with music playing, yeah, maybe I'm frequenting the wrong places, but I don't really have a choice in my small village.
