Topic: For those that say Cartoons died

Posted: 11/20/09 09:50 AM

Forum: General

The cartoons, at least the ones i see sometimes, are different from the old cartoons. The type of humor used in them has changed, the characters etc. And i know 8 year olds who haven't had a chance to grow up with the old cartoon network saying they prefer the older cartoons than the new. So the cartoons have changed.

Oh and spoiling the kid doesn't? They'll just grow up to be lazy little fucks and expect everything to be given them. I'm not saying beat the crap out of the kid for every little thing, but parents could be a little harder on them today.

Try Tom Waits, he's a genre of his own, if you are willing to try something new.

I got high a 2 days ago, i've smoked some joints before, but this time i inhaled the proper way.
Well first i got a bit dizzy, like i was drunk and later everything started to seem real funny, so me and my friends just laughed our asses of at random stuff... or eachother. Then we just did some really dumb ass shit, that lasted for 2 hours, then i had to go home, but i could feel light headed for at least 4 hours later.
And i strongly reccomend that you bring water or some other liquid when you smoke, because you will get thirsty instantly and that can be really unpleasant. I know that, we only had beer that time and i probably drank 2 litres of water when i came home.

I came across this old song called "gloomy sunday", and they say people commited suicide after hearing the song. I've listened to it, and i'not thinking of hanging myself just yet, but i did find the song really depressnig and somehow scary. I cant even listen to the intro anymore, i get a shiver.

I don't know if you were going to point this out or not, but there is still the issue of the reviewers.
Most of the reviews i saw in the art portal are very short and offer little or no constructive criticism.
If you think the image could be improved and you know how, do your best to explain to the artist what he did wrong and how he can improve. And give the image a reasonable score. If you don't like the motive (ie: you don't like anime and the motive is anime etc.), don't rate the motive, rate how well it is made.
That's all i could think of.

It is because you first need to be scouted. An established artist must first find your art in the inscouted section and press the scout button. If your piece is good enaugh for the portal, you have more chances of getting scouted.
Also if you post any kind of thread in the Art forum, you are required to post a picture of your art.

Just because the above piece is more detailed and shaded, i don't think it can be classified as "fine art".
It still looks a bit sketchy or unfinished to me. So this is more of a sketch or an illustration than fine art.
Fine art to me is really something that as you above stated, something that at least looks finished and "sanded" to perfection. These are the two things i do not see in your drawing.

Borat and Bruno are both parodies on the USA. They are not trying to be the best, most thought out movies ever, they just want to point out, in a funny way, how dumb or intolerant americans can be sometimes.

Do you really think you are smart, cool and uber awesome? You're not! You only think so because people give you sarcastic reviews and 10 stars, ever thought of that? In any case, 10 year olds shouldn't even be on Newgrounds, let alone make hateful, vulgar rap songs.

And it probably is, but most people today are just too lazy to view a movie that has a little more complex story. I like Pixar movies, i've liked them since i was a kid and i didn't find one of them too scary or unsuitable for children. But looking at young kids today, they all seem to whine about these kind of movies and that is most probably a product of what i have explained in my first post.

I have no experience with children of my own, but i do with my 7 year old brother. You say that the only movies that little children don't go hystericaly crying are those family movies which always end well and as some guy before mentioned, nothing realy dramatical happens, like BAD guys actually dying. I believe this kind of teaching children that everything is ok an well will only have a negative effect on them. If all their childhood they watch movies like that, they will not understand death and think that whatever happens, people will not die or be injured. That could, in one case lead to them growing up and hurting people thinking they'll be ok anyway, or just soften them up to the point when anything sad or tragic they see will cause them to suffer mentaly. I think so, because i have such experiences with my little brother. His mother took him to all of these family films you say are good for children. Before he never saw a film where something bad happens or someone get's injured. When we went to watc wall-e some time ago, in the scene in the beginnig when Eve lands and starts shooting everything around, my brother started crying and complainig to the point where we had to take him out because the people were getting annoyed. After that film, we went to see some more films were not everything was all good and well all the time. The same story repeated itself every time we went to see such a movie and it just got worse and worse. Now we just rather don't take him to pixar animations because we know he'll just end up crying. And that's NOT Pixar's fault. Its the fault of him being raised like you raise your children MadCow, watching goody movies and making the child soft and vunerable to any kind of tragedy. To finish off my post, i would like to point out that Pixar movies are (in my opinion) great and have a better story than other movies of the same genre. The story contains sad parts as well as happy parts and that is what, again IMO, makes the movie interesting to watch and as it ends, leaves a mark and maybe leaves you thinking about it, unlike with other films, say Madagascar, which is a film made purely for entertainment and i think entertainment alone doesn't make a good film.

All that being said, i do hope you will consider raising your kids differently, or we can all aswell become a bunch of brainwashed idiots, thinking that all is well and ok.

I like it. Even though it's cartoony or really complex, i like the clean lines and the crosshatcing/shading.
It's all done like a professional artist, you should (if you haven't already) make a comic with this style.
Also thanks for this topic, i've been on the edge of collapse because of the art forum things.
