Kweaks, the tortoise won... and so will you... I guess :3

UberCream!! HOLY CRAP IN A BREADBASKET!! DO IT!! DO IT NOW!!

Ragdey-Anne, I know how you feel, I'm sneaking these comments in during my lunch break, and getting up real early first thing in the morning to get some time in on my parts... The bastards just won't let us be... :(

stan112, sorry about getting your name wrong... HA!

Hey Everybody, I just woke up and there's a bunch of stuff in here... wooTasaurus TXT! :D

BornToByte, I'd rather muffins than mussels or maybe mussel muffins... CRAZY! That's some great muffin antics, but it needs more movement, maybe do a crazy background thing like you did on the first part? :)

satan112, thats a stinky poo muffin, and I love it! You're going to need to do a lot more to it to make it interesting though... You could lip sync him to be singing along? and bounce him from sided to side or something...

Gatling, I can imagine you sitting there all angry while everyone else sings along really happy... You should animate that, it'd be like therapy! :D

Rockin182, Nope... Put your back into it soldier! I know you've got more than that! Candygirl gets her head gobbled is funny though, keep at it... Use the work you've done as the base (like a pencil test) and trace it in colour with a smaller brush on a new layer, and add more frames to smooth it out, then maybe a background in a layer underneath, then we'll talk. :)

UberCream, I like doing the preloaders and menus, and I'm a greedy bastard! But what have you got in mind? Pitch me an awesome idea and you've got it! :D

Slodd, I think you should take a tablet while you wait... Perhaps a chill pill... DRUGS ARE BAD...

Morrowdays, thanks for posting your opinions. Since I'm in bed when most of the activity is on in this forum, it's nice to know people like you lard-lad, satan123 and BornToByte to name a few are all about handling things tactfully, without you guys I'd get up every morning to a flame war and have to throw a bucket of water on my screen everyday.
I know you're busy, just do what you can do, and don't do what you can't do. :3

I just found this movie that Edd and Koit make, and I thought it'd be great for long term collab

http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/41 2557

It'd have to be only a few animators with similar styles and they'd need to be really good, but it just seems like it'd be really fun and crazy! You'd have to send the full fla file back and forth between people adding to it and sending it on to the next person... and stuff. It seems like it works better than having a theme and everyone just making random movies and throwing them all together... what do you guys think of the concept? I suppose it'd be better to do with people in the same room, like MarcyVF and TommyVF do... I might try it out with a friend from work or my wife... or something... and see how it goes... DON'T WORRY! I don't mean now, I'm just thinking out loud, or something... and I won't let it interfere with this collab, YOU HAVE MY WORD! blah blah blah, and then I said "that's no place for a fish to dance..." :3

If we're talking about old school hand-drawn animation, I've made a bunch of peg boards (Like 180) to the size of a regular hole punch (80mm) using some 6mm dowell and mdf boards. I teach animation at Tafe (like University), so I made a crap load of peg boards for them to use, so that they don't have to draw using the computer when they're getting used to it. You hole punch your paper then feed the sheets over the pegs so that all the drawings are lined up, and then you either use a lightbox or tape it to a window so you can see though to do your imbetweens. It's awesome, the only problem is numbering all your drawings and keeping track of them, and of course having to scan or photograph them all to get them into the computer. You end up with piles and piles of drawings...

Aidmun, it's always worth making evil kung fu bunny films... Just make it good...

Kweaks, tween sparingly, only when absolutely necessary...

Omenator, have fun at camp... Maybe I'll have a minimum score to enter on the next collab if everyone demands it, but it just doesn't feel right. The whole collab thing seems to be a place for people to learn stuff and experiment with animation, so I don't want to exclude anyone from that.

MarcyVF, that's fantastic mate! Perfecto!! :D

DJMAX, If you don't put music over yours I'll choose a track and put it over a few of them, watch the face collab for an idea of what I'm getting at.

Ubercream, you can email massive files if you set up a gmail account, I set mine up just for that reason. They let you have over 2 gig of space on their server to play with. Otherwise you could upload it through megaupload and post the link to it in the forum.

Jusus Mary Joseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat, I only responded to what was on page 6!! You crazy bastards have been busy!

steelsoldier, YESS!! Send me the FLA!! Now the orange knows the horror!! :O

Kweaks, good work doing your own sound!

BornToByte, Mango man!! I was exited, then I relaxed (and took it easy). It would be better a little longer or with dramatic zooming with vcam or something... maybe? :)

KromeHeart, any friend of NotLenny is a friend of mine, show us the fruits of your labour! Is it food for thought? Insert some other kind of bad joke my dad would say? :3

DJMAX, I don't like your attitude... and I'm not much of a fan of your flash, looks like it belongs in the sketch collab, not the food collab. Everyone's getting a bit sick of the old "pencil drawing the character" bit. Speed the drawing part up and come up with something funny or interesting for the Muffin to do... I'll email you the pencil scratching fx now.

Mercenary 81, That's a bad ass apple! :0

Ragdey-Anne, you don't need the voice? If you do let me know... Though I have an Australian Accent I can put on a few others pretty badly... Maybe I could order a "kangaroo steak mate with extra cheese".

Response to: The Food Collab! Posted May 24th, 2008 in Game Development

Omenator, Your falling apple guy is the business! Don't be so damned hard on yourself, I've studied illustration and design for years, I teach colour theory and stuff at Tafe and I'm 28 years old. When I was 14 I couldn't animate for shit, I was using an ancient Amiga computer and moving stick figures around. It'll come, with time and practice you'll a bloody animation machine!!
- I use a graphics tablet with the brush stroke set to pressure sensitive to draw in the line work.
- then I use a combination of the paint bucket and the brush tool with it's drawing mode set to paint behind to fill it in.
- If I want to add extra shading to it I select the fill colour then use the brush set to Paint Selection and shade just that selected area.
Because you use such a sketchy line -which is awesome and adds character to your work, don't let anyone tell you different- you might want to add your fill colours on a new layer underneath. That way you wont end up with lots of little bits and pieces of fill caught between your lines and it'll be easier to use the Paint Selection way to shade everything in. Typey Type Type Type Type... blah XB

MeLucky, that's a great start, I'd use a bit of vcam to zoom into the scene... :)

Lard-lad, That's brilliant!! I'm picturing a new character in front of these dancing pizzas crooning like Frank Sinatra or something? :D

Response to: The Food Collab! Posted May 24th, 2008 in Game Development

Sorry I haven't been on for a bit, I've been working on something else... and I can only post this then I have to go see the new Indiana Jones movie which should kick ass!! Dum Dum Daahh!!

DJMAX, I have some sound fx of pencil scratches on my computer, give me your email and I'll get it to you as an attachment. Or you could grab a microphone and use Audacity to record it yourself on your computer.

PottyPoopmeister, You is cwazy in the coconut! mmm.... Yellow snow! chomp chew chew... BARF! :U

Tolu910, I reckon just go though, clean up and smooth out the animation you've done, add extra frames to smooth the movements out, and do some extra work on the drawings using the brush tool with paintselection turned on... or something.

Ragdey-Anne, you look familiar, have you had some sort of a nose or lip job since I last saw you...?

Kweaks, people don't like food... or something. Don't worry about it, it's about quality not quantity.

Mercenary81, have something to eat and think it over... I like the fruit salad dance thing you've got going on, reminds me of the muppet show. Satans right... I never thought I'd say that. :3

xHeavyMetalx, the file's all good, cheers mate! :D

Omenator, you're always welcome here! I love your animated profile pic, teh awesome!!

satan112, if you're working on a food anim on Sunday maybe it should be a roast. :)

Treerung, this needs a lot of work, I couldn't tell at all that the cheese was coming from the moon... Make the moon more obviously cheesy and work hard on it and I think you're on a winner! :D

Kweaks, are you doing your own voice acting? It's great fun to do... Can't wait to see what you come up with! :D

I don't know... The knees are bending the wrong way, which will be weird to animate, but could be really funny... It could be because of the angle the pork chop is on, it's not exactly facing the camera front on, maybe that's part of the problem. Do a couple of drawings on a piece of paper and see if you can find a better way, but I think he'll be hilarious as he is! :D

MarkyLyne - You can have all the parts, ALL OF THEM... but seriously, I think four is the maximum... Unless they're really short... then you can have ALL OF THEM!! or not. FOUR... yeah?

And cheers haha, I'm not sure about the arms and legs though..

I've got the fla and it works great! Nice bit of vcam work... Errr, I think whatever you do with the porkchop should be redrawn fbf, you could probably keep the chop as a movieclip and slide it around but I think the arms and legs will only work if they are frame by frame... That is unless you break each limb into two parts so you can slide the upper and lower parts around and bend the elbows... but that would mean you need to redraw them and make movie clips... hmm... :X

MeLucky, add all the sounds you like,

steelsoldier, your quote is freaking me out... I'm scared :0

BornToByte, Mega Mango is going to be EPIC! You could do a few short action movie shots with Mega Mango and we cut them in at random times during the collab, like a running gag! :D He's wearing a weiner! :O I thought "manhood" was funny... I doesn't necessarily mean cock, only sometimes. :P

MarkyLyne, I like it a lot!

satan112, that is the awesome!! Email the fla to me as an attachment! :D

Lard-lad, I think you have your idea, mexican tap dancing cheese... Meat is also pretty funny, in a wrong kind of way. I'm thinking of a cow on a conveyor belt that goes through a bunch of circular saws, and comes out as lumps of meat and they all go "Yay! Now we're meat!" and dance around... Wrong :3

MarkyLyne, don't mess with the kitty krew... I voted for it... I hope it helps... they is bad kittys

SUPER POST!! ANSWERING ALL THE QUESTIONS THAT TIME FORGOT!!

thekidgio, I knew that was what you meant, I was just funning with ya, you know... funning? With the ha ha and the he he.

steelsoldier, now I do know the horror, this isn't much different from the last bunch, and I've liked them all, but they need some kind of a punch line, like the orange pulling out a knife and stabbing the knife and the knife dying, or something... Maybe a rubber chicken :U

satan112, that's great!! How are you going to animate it? It looks hard.

Tolu910, I like it, but it's just not funny or interesting... am I being too harsh... I mean it's great fbf, but I think you've rushed it a bit and can do much better... I'm a shit kicker, aren't I? If you guys think I'm wrong I'll put it in... democracy anyone?

xHeavyMetalx, that's a hell of a random part, I like the goo that comes out... It could use a bit of vcam action like a slow zoom or something, or maybe an animated background... or something...

Treerung, I'm loving it, your fla is on board the food train bound for greatness! :3

UberCream, your profile pic is awesome! EGGPLANT MAN!! Welcome to the food collab! :D
