It's P-BOT. =P

Haha, I'm glad Blockhead got a Weekly 1st. It's the first Weekly User's Choice in the series (not counting Time Squad) =D

A hallmark moment!

And I was disappointed that the submission below mine didn't get its Review Crew Pick because of the stupid award-stealing jackassery with 1.1 scored submissions taking it at the last minute. BROKEN :(

Hi guys. Vote for me.

I'm gonna give all the entries a listen today, to know what the competition is :D

I only ask because I honestly thought that I was in with a chance of at least a T-shirt for that one.

Don't worry, I read your following message too.

Your submission was good, the attention to detail was accurate, but unfortunately in translating to hi-def you missed some of the original details from the sprite you were embellishing upon. It seemed more like a traced reinterpretation (I know that sounds bad but I'm only trying to give what you did a name) than it did an all-out redefining of what was already there. Maybe your only fault was in picking a complicated sprite, because I did like the end result of your efforts. I guess what was missing outweighed what was there?

Like I'm one to talk. My submission was practically invented, but I guess the guys weren't REQUIRING entries to be 'traced' as it were. Har har.

I will simply go back in time and merge with my younger self. It's not that complicated, really.

OMG what happens when I host Swain-Con 2007 at the bar Oxygen in Leicester Square, London?!?!111 Luis, you need to come back because no one else will.

Dammit, London is my favorite city in the world, no joke. Actually, I'm not worried about not being able to make it to the NG Old World Meat. Next time I'm in Britain, all I have to do is hint at the presence of booze to have every English islander come running.

Also Luis, a hint: don't use the term "bender" while you're there to describe a drinking spree. Trust me.

We would save all the important stuff for after your beddy bye time anyway ;)

Ahh well, I am actually really pumped about seeing the eclectic Newgrounds mix, combining ages, backgrounds, and all that jazz from all over under a similar banner. BOSS.

Though I don't know how I convinced myself to step on a plane again. I thought I was done with all that.

Flaw by design does not imply flaw on the part of the creator.

Taking a relevant example, if I were to design a character for a story, and that character has an eating disorder, what fault is it of mine that I decided this for them? If I am flawed, then it is not for that reason.

Not saying you're wrong, but let's pick on the chink in the chain.

P.S. That wasn't a racial slur.

Response to: Rock Out Winners! Posted July 20th, 2007 in NG News

The problem with game contests, I fear, is that all entries suffer an attention drop because they have to share interest with the other entries. This is especially true when not only the theme, but the principle of the game itself, is the similarity between them.

If Capcom released twenty new Street Fighter titles RIGHT NOW, I doubt any one of them would benefite as much as a single title under the same conditions.

Here's to hoping the entries (the winning games especially) receive more attention over time!

But I'm especially grateful for the oldschool Blockhead fans who have stuck around this long and who help me to keep this series going with their reviews and insight. Rock on, guys.
