There go 95% of the submissions so far...

It is an "art" contest and not a scavenger hunt, after all. I feel no pity for those who fail!

I know I'm late, but Noodle and MasterFury: I really dig those submissions!

The ones you saw with 8 or 10 colors are not going to qualify, trust me :(

I don't think enough emphasis was put on the 4-color rule. It's the most widely broken qualification in the contest so far, maybe more than the *CREATE* a design rule. Even I'm still kinda breaking it by excluding black and white as colors. But fortunately, most of the rip-off-and-paste shirts exceed the color minimum by leagues and disqualifying them would be justified based on a hard rule.

Then again, I think maybe five people read the rules anyway. The pixelated screenshots of existing NG art is especially keen :D

Response to: Pure flash ideas Posted October 1st, 2007 in Game Development

Ideas are the easy part. Working for 100 hours on a good cartoon is not.

If someone steals your idea (God forbid), what you should do is then go behind their back and steal the hours of work they would have done by just doing it yourself. That'll learn em. Imagine their surprise when you've completed a cartoon you came up with yourself before they could invest hours and hours into it.

Response to: new idea help me out... Posted October 1st, 2007 in Game Development

Once upon a time I had my own dumb idea, but rather than get someone to make it for me, I picked up Flash and made it myself. It was called Blockhead: Episode 1, and it sucked. :D But I kept at it and eventually managed to turn it into something worthwhile.

You don't need to be an artist, you just need to be enthusiastic. That's what it takes to make a lasting series. But if you're not so enthusiastic about your own project that you want to go and learn how to make it yourself, then you've got to be out of your mind to think that someone else will do it for you. I mean, seriously, if you're too lazy to make your own SPRITE movie? Come on...

What you're probably looking for is a slave, not an artist. An artist doesn't go to someone else for their project unless there's cash involved. Or they're not very good. But a slave will do whatever you ask them to do, and you don't even have to pay them.

I'm more familiar with the work I did so I can describe it in more detail.

But sending out 100 packages can't be easy.
yeah your probably right

Get a room you two. Bahaha.

I told Luis I felt guilty having my name attached to the collab, since I probably put about two hours of work into the whole project and I still managed to make Luis wait 2 weeks before he finally got my part from me. I still reallydig the concept behind the collab: most collabs on NG are suited to kids without serious dedication to creating a long cartoon and thus team up with other like-minds, but the Sketchbook Tour was only possible due to the insane effort put into it by the team. Like Glaiel said, it would have been easier and probably more beneficial to simply work on individual projects for greater gain. That's why I suspect that the SBT is more like an anti-collab.

Anyway, I can't comment on the submission because I'm listed as an author, so this is gonna hafta suffice. GOOD JOB YOU HACKS!!!111

GHOSTMAS DAY YOU SON OF A BITCH. Then again, that's sort of Halloween anyway. Nevermind, Tom!

Actually Tom, non-esoteric themed days seem promising (robots, etc). Believe it or not, not everyone knows and loves Pico, Madness, etc., even on Newgrounds. Maybe something more general and yet not reliant on holidays. Ya dig?

The dude at the airport security checkpoint recognized my Newgrounds shirt when I was on my way to Holland. Rather than making sure our skyways remain safe and that our planes and our people are in no danger, the guy gushed out with "Awww dude, I haven't been there in like forever, is that site still around?"

I mean seriously, I could have been a villain. What was he thinking.

On topic: Thanks for the monthly votes guys, I'm sure some people out there think I'm undeserving and am just RAKING in the dough with my toons, but Blockhead is getting harder and harder to do the more I learn about animating, and the time between new episodes is drastically increasing. These victories along the way are a tremendous encouragement, so thanks again to all you guys who voted for B-to-the-H this month :)

Yeah I'm kind of clumsy but I'm sorta thin, plus I'm a giant, so musclebound gladiator was the only way to go. Imagine if the Black Mage from FF was twice as tall as the fighter. KNOWHUTIMSAYAIN?

Also, to Jeff - You've already got the artwork for the staff select screen flash, don't you? Just give it all to Luis and make him do it.
