Yes good, so I'm not the only one who figured the arms should be in front. It never actually occurred to me that the arms were supposed to be folded behind the figure's back. If the things weren't so damn asexual, maybe I would have sorted it out.

Also, mine looks like Bomberman HURRAY.

Ohh god no. TheSwain is a classic example of a talented artist wasting all of his talent making inane, overdone shit aimed at ten-year-old losers who still think that the words cheese, spleen, or cow are all instant laugh riots.

I have made other cartoons <3 And I've only been animating for 2 years, give me time.

And isn't "cheese" the catch phrase of the character of the same name from that imaginary friends cartoon?

Looking good...Just a question, why not blockhead? Does this mean I would be free to make a photoshop Blockhead Munny?

Luis is doing one of Krinkels' characters, so I don't see why not. And Blockhead seemed too obvious a choice for me...the roung head, the small body, so I thought I'd mix it up. Plus I'm painting some Blockhead acrylics simultaneously.

Response to: Ng Diy Munny Competition Posted November 11th, 2007 in Art

Yea Luis is right, I switched to a less stiff brush for my Munny. These pictures make the figure look more streaked than it really is, thanks to the camera flash. THANKS FLASH.

This is from last night. I am gonna get to work on coat 2, the last of the actual painting. Then it'll be clay and marker detail.

And finally a shot of my dude in progress. He's almost totally covered in paint right now, and I've smoother the strokes out since then. More tomorrow, bye! <3

Maybe if Luis had sent me two heads instead of one, I just might have. I'm just glad I didn't fall into the temptation of turning mine into Blockhead. That big round head is just a little too tempting to slather with yellow paint.

Here is the paint I started with instead, prepped for the first coat around the tunic, helmet, boots, and gloves. Taking pictures of my color ratios helps me to figure out how to duplicate the color if I need to paint with the same color in future sections (duh). Here we have variants of green, white, black, and umber. I added more yellow than this as I mixed. PROGRESS.

It's important that you go into this thing without a plan. That way when your finished piece looks like garbage, no one will suspect that you have no idea what you're doing.

Here I am with my new friend. He's a little racist but we get along okay.

I nearly slapped a Halloween preloader on Mastermind just to see what would happen, since a non-Halloween toon still qualifies so long as it contains the preloader and a link to the Halloween collection. Frommeyer got third place last year for doing that. BROKEN. At least he's a great animator, though.

Thanks Tom! :) And thanks especially to you guys who enjoyed the short. I still remember last year's contest, and this time I was stoked to find that I climbed all the way to first. Also, congrats to the other winners! I am especially happy to see Will Arbuckle and Zekey up there :D They deserved it more than most.

Wrong. Sorry.

I'm always flattered when a few people act like I'm some professional who comes here to take prizes away from the 'little guys', as though three weeks of sleepless nights spent working on my cartoon explicitly for this contest was just an exploitive afterthought on my part. Two years ago I was struggling to make something out of my Flash work, same as a lot of other people then and now. If I'm at the point where some people can truly hate me for creating an inoffensive cartoon series that nobody forced them to watch, then I guess that's a measure of success, right?

The funny thing about "Bad Idea" is that I can swear I watched this animation a year ago posted on some other site, that I can't remember.

Yea Will Arbuckle pointed that out to me, and I thought it was strange that Bad Idea was like the fourth cartoon down in their music videos on their site. If it was brand new, you'd think it would be at the top.

Response to: Top entries from 10/30/2007! Posted October 31st, 2007 in P-bot's Postings

I actually liked the animation in Bad Idea more than the song itself. I can appreciate how difficult some fbf can be when the camera is shooting a character at a weird angle.

The PROBLEM I HAVE with it though is: why is the NG Halloween preloader only on the version they submitted to NG? It's not on the one on their site or anywhere else. I've noticed a few people doing this. The reason the preloader is a requirement for the contest is so that when the cartoon is disseminated across the internet, Newgrounds gets mentioned in exchange for the money it's forking over for the contest. Putting the preloader only on the version that gets uploaded here serves no purpose - it's like advertising Coca cola products to Coca Cola employees.

I dunno, I loved the music video itself, and the fbf was glorious in parts. I just though this was mildly questionable. Maybe it's just me though.

Glad I could do my part and keep illwillpress from another Daily 1st <3

It's dead obvious that the Foamy script has NOTHING to do with Halloween. It was arbitrarily written, and then set to some bogus pretense for a Halloween background with some creepy music. Thankfully it doesn't qualify for the Halloween contest anyway.

Ugh, I shouldn't be so resentful of other artists, even if no one will hate me for disliking illwillpress's awful repetition :( But the scheming laziness bothers me after I've spent weeks on animating non-stop with my own projects.

Problem is, that just tells Vista to record from whatever microphone i have plugged into the machine. I need to somehow record from sound that is playing on my machine, not externally :( If I can switch Microphone to pick up internal sound then that would solve all my problems, but for the time being i cannot seem to find an option for that.

The ink tool is one of the most helpful tools on the panel, I learned about it when I started work on Pico's Time Tank earlier this year and now I can't get over it. When I watch Flash or vector-based cartoons on television and some character is penned in thin lines but outlined with a thick border, I'm always thrilled to know how they did it, and why. It just looks fantastic (and yet I still haven't introduced the technique into Blockhead).

Also, I did not know about double clicking the eraser...but LITTLE KNOWN FACT: I never, ever use the eraser tool in Flash. I erase with the Undo button and the Lasso + Delete.

What have you learned? Posted October 11th, 2007 in Game Development

Ugh, I figured out that I don't know everything about Flash. WHAT A SURPRISE.

You can draw or paint BMP images as a fill without having to use a mask. I swear I just learned this. And it was in the Color Mixer menu all along. How stupid do I feel? Incredibly.

WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED? I'm hoping to pick up a few new Flash features that I've never caught while I'm at it.

Response to: Recording Internal Audio + Vista? Posted October 11th, 2007 in Audio

It took me days to get my software settings just the way I had them on my old XP setup, it would suck to have to do that all over again. I guess it's a toss-up of which sucks more...this, or that.

Someone must know where this magic switch is I need to flip. I'm holding high hopes that Microsoft, an enviably gargantuan company, isn't deliberately trying to make things harder for its users. Where is the profit in that?

So, any recommendations? Besides reinstalling XP that is, which I still have on my laptop.

Recording Internal Audio + Vista? Posted October 10th, 2007 in Audio

I hate Vista for myriad reasons. Here's another:

I can't seem to figure out how to record from WAV/MP3 output or MIDI output on Vista. In Windows XP it was easy - you could switch between Microphone, MIDI, WAV, etc. on a singe device. But I can't seem to find the option anymore. Someone please tell me there's a way to capture internal sound on this garbage OS which doesn't involve feeding cords between the headphone and microphone ports. I'm hoping it's a stupid interface change and not some big mission to get this working.

I apologize if my jargon is off. I only know how to do what I do, not call it by name. Thanks!
