The Mastermind game was cool. I found it to be kinda easy, but I still enjoyed playing it for the things the guy said. "Mwahaha, you suck!"
After the Blockhead game, I owe it to everyone to make games they can beat :O

Since Tankmen was an in-house production, the prize pack carries over to the first runner-up!
6. Gamer Tonight - RTS Gamer
Also, Swain has requested that his prize for Mastermind be passed along to Zekey, who would have been 7th place if The Nut Job wasn't a two-parter:
8. Bench
RUNNER-UP MOVIES:
7. The Nut Job (part 2)
8. Bench
uhhhhh
let me think here.
okay. So tankmen was in house so the prize went to down a notch to 2-6.
But the Swain didnt want his, so his prize should go to whatever's in 7th right
so its 3-7 as opposed to 1-5
my math skills are terrible.
I guess overall it went to me because you guys didnt want to give the Nut Job the prize twice?
Although I gotta say, how on earth did Bench even get to 7th?
I mean, yeah, I worked pretty hard on it. But its like 20 seconds long, and..like....what.
People didnt even really like it that much. I dont get it :(
I really hope i'm not becoming one of those people who can submit absolute crapshite and win awards due to it. I dont want to be IllwillPress. Or LF.
But then, that Valentines thing I made in like 45 minutes has a high score now. :/
This is probably not a good trend. I guess I have fanboys upvoting my crap regardless of quality or something now. Thats not good. :(
I dont really deserve that cash. Can I donate my clams elsewhere or wat?
Ok I'm gonna admit that Bench wasn't your best piece, far from it naturally. But SOMEHOW it got as high as 7th place monthly, and that's good enough for me. Dude, if you don't deserve it for Bench, then you deserve it for something else. I got 2nd with MM2 and probably put as much effort into it.
btw you have to sell out for years to match up with illwillpress. Really, accepting one duly-earned monthly award won't hurt you <3

BURN. Maybe a gold aura around the Tom's Choice submissions on the front page, eh? Why must it always settle on the boob factor!?

Sometimes, rather than enjoying a hot, delicious sandwich, I like to pay a hobo to run out and get it for me. In addition to the extra cash I pay him in order not to run away with my tasty meal, the sandwich comes back to me stale and mangled. It's alright though, because everything is always better off with a middleman.
P.S. THAT WAS AN ANALOGY !!!11

ah, Tankmen. Also amazing. Pretty great day for newgrounds, the Daily 1st and Daily 2nd being of such great quality.
Strange day when you can pull second place with a score of 4.55 :O
There's no such thing as burning out for good, Tom. You're not going to quit CC before it gets finished, which is the only danger to most artists who bite off more than they can chew. For better or worse you're going to learn plenty from this adventure, the most significant lesson being that you've gotten too big and come to account for too many things to keep flying solo on every project.
After a very, very brief post-CC respite, you'll find some tiny project to amuse you for three days and then remember that it's possible not to have too much to do at once, and that the only thing slave-driving you is yourself. Blockhead used to take me a few days at most to release an episode...don't you remember when personally updating content on Newgrounds was the same way?
MAKE IT HAPPEN TOM. I SUPPORT NWO, "NEWGROUNDS WORLD ORDER"!!1

Just like this time last year, I'm in a deep Castle Crashers trance, working all hours to get the game to Alpha. It's been a long time coming and there's still plenty of road ahead, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and I just have to make it before I burn out for good. Just like everything else, the game has turned out to be way more ambitious than we ever intended, and I'm hoping everyone enjoys the hell out of it when it's done. :)
That isn't to say there isn't plenty of stuff in the works for NG! Ross just released an overhaul of the review system, which brings more attention to the reviewers (check out those user pages!) and makes the reviews look prettier in general. Abner, of Shotgun Man fame, is putting the finishing touches on the new NG store, which we hope to launch by the end of the month - keep those fingers crossed!
There are other projects in the works that we'll surprise everyone with later, and PsychoGoldfish is working towards getting that new chat system launched... eventually!
I was planning to post a big STATE OF THE UNION for the coming year, but right now I'm too absorbed in work to write an epic post... I'm thinking once we wrap up some of these immediate projects, I'll try to present the scope for just what we hope to accomplish this year! It's a big scope and people might die.
But enough about us... What are YOUR goals for 2008?

Ah, like "My Newgrounds"? Well, obviously stuff like Afro-Ninja's "How to be a Guitar Hero" (which was nicely thought out, long, and well edited considering it was a one-man-production) are deserving of the attention they get. And yeah, making a "real film" takes just as long if not longer than it does to make a "real cartoon", but I haven't seen much of either around here ;)
At 1/10/08 11:44 AM, JackPhantasm wrote: Sorry but making a real film takes just as long, I wasn't referring to youtube crap.
You guys think that you can just film something in 60 seconds and it will look like you want it to.
Haha.
At 1/10/08 09:59 AM, JackPhantasm wrote: Why do you say, "Don't vote for videos."
If they're made in flash they're technically still animating.
Hell you're technically still animating IN FRAMES when you're filming something.
I don't see why must hold such a bias. I mean I understand that a lot of videos are usually stupid.
But you can paint with a camera just as much as with a flash brush. If you know what you're doing...
To do the things in Flash that a newbie could do with a camera would take generations. Like literally, to animate all the movements of a person in a 60 second film segment, I would have to work into my old age and then pass the cartoon down to my hypothetical son, who would continue to work where I left off. It's an entirely different art than filming, which already gets crazy exposure on sites all across the net.
Flash deserves its own sacred place. Until then, Newgrounds will have to do (bahaha that was like a joke only not as funny).

Luis is absolutely correct. Send the strippers and booze directly to the winners this year.

I was surprised, Mastermind got a looooong run on Front Page and yet ended up with only as many views as any cartoon would with the same span. It didn't exactly explode, and yet ended up in the top 5? I predicted 12th place at best :O
In fact, not a lot of people knew it was mine from what I understand. I'm surprised and honored that it didn't go unnoticed.
Thanks voters <3
Now that's what I call a plug. Stamper, this kid owes you his seed.
Voting now.

If you ever become a writer, do not join a union!
But then you're paid less and can be fired without any protection. Those who strike who didn't want to strike, have the assurance that their comrades would do the same for them.
I wish the writers/actors of Heroes walked off set too; maybe then they'd stop the show before it ruins itself.
Ok, joke time over. I've heard a lot of mixed views on the strike. For example, crew members (as opposed to writers and actors) have to stop working and thus stop getting paid while the writers work out this discrepancy for themselves. When everything is resolved, what will those who were made to suffer for nothing get? Then again, does that mean the writers should do nothing on their own behalf when they're obviously being undercut by their corporate superiors? What alternatives are there?
I don't know how I would suggest getting involved. However, if entertainment on the internet were explicitly at stake, I'd fight like a rabid wolverine.
My friend showed me Assassin way back in '00 or '01. Then I went away for a while and clicked back here on an NG link at the end of an episode of Burnt Face Man.
I think we're just returning to classical times. Caligula still takes the cake (among other things).
Thanks guys :) I noticed I haven't said it yet, which makes me feel ungrateful. Really, all I do is just make cartoons for you all to enjoy. You guys are the ones who win contests for me <3 And that's what keeps me coming back this often, that so many of you guys picked Blockhead over so many other deserving entries.
I know I'm older than a lot of NG members, but that doesn't make me any less of a beginner at animating. That's why this means so much to me. Thanks again! :D

Sorry I mistook you for something you are not. The paintings are very nice and it's 100% stronger seeing three of them together. Are you planning on selling them or keeping the, for yourself. Also, the comment about copy/paste should be taken as a huge compliment... they look exact enough to be copies! Nice man.
It was an awesome lesson in painting, trying to get three canvases to turn out exactly the same :D No matter what the painting is, I recommend it to anyone to try.
I'm gonna give these suckers away as gifts. One is for my parents (aww), one is for Tom to hang in the office somewhere, hopefully someplace to make Jeff/Stamper as nervous as possible at all times. The last is for the winner of a contest on my site. I haven't painted in 7 years since I went to school for it, so this was the definition of a crazy experiment. I'm a little sad to see them go though. I feel like I'm separating three brothers.
SORRY FOR HIJACKING THE TOPIC LUIS - But with all these acrylic projects, I'm really psyched to get to do some more painting in the future. Start planning the next art competition if you haven't already!

The idea was to make him like my Cop character from Time Squad. I think I am better at drawing than painting (the below paintings were done alongside my Munny)
I finished the base colors.
Still to do:
-Black outlines around colored areas
-Dirt and filth marks
-Gloss around helmet, gloves, boots, goggles
-Felt mustache
-Metal badge/belt buckle
-Drink celebratory beer
-Taunt minorites
