Here's a scenario from Contra: Shattered Soildier, first level you crash into the ground in some plane, break out the front window of the plane and start shooting shit up, you wind up in a factory where these pussy solider dudes are hiding behind shields, sure you big badass gun can cut through those shields in about 5 seconds, BUT YOU ARE A MAN, shoot the fuel tanks over their heads and watch them burn. Then your fighting some weird ass machine thing that you could take out in 10 seconds if you feel like it but no, YOU ARE A MAN, you shoot the fucking guns off that shit before you kill it, like cutting off its dick or something, then you run out onto a bridge mowing down more douchebags with your death dispenser when here comes some DBag in a helicopter and decides to blow up the bridge you're on.

Then while still going down the mountain, some big ass worm like the one I drank in Mexico recently comes out of the mountainside trying to kill you, you penetrate that son of a bitch with your metal dick and watch it break to pieces. At this point the mountain gives up and throws your ass off into some railings where your holding on LIKE A MAN and these dumbass locus like creatures try to rape you, but your anus is made of soild steel or some shit because the most they can do is pick you up, so you roast those bitches like THE MAN you are.

After all that easy shit you find the punk in the helicopter transforming like he's Optimus Prime or something, but he's no Optimus Prime, because Optimus wouldn't let his ass get smashed by some 200 ton super turtle. A lesser man would die at the site of that burnt skin turtle, BUT YOU ARE A MAN, you already kicked this fucker's ass in Contra 3. Take that metal dick you got and jizz all the lead semen you got into that bitches face, while you're at it film that shit and post it on the internet to let the world know its your bitch, because YOU ARE A MAN!!!!

Then you get a message that says "Mission Complete" and you move on the the second level, or third or fourth, game was a bit non-linear like that.

It really depends on the content of the story. Like in Terminator Salvation, John Conner should of died in that movie, leaving the rest of the resistance to learn not to depend on him, but follow his example and fight back. BUT NOOOOOOOO, the quest for more money will always get in the way.
