Glad I don't live in Europe. I believe the holocaust happened, but I think punishing someone for their beliefs, no matter how stupid is an insane practice.

Response to: Gay Is Not Okay Posted July 19th, 2004 in Politics

As Skunk said, homosexuality would have absolutely no effect on a soldier's ability to fire a gun or drive a tank, BUT( and I'm only being the Devil's... or maybe God's advocate here) But the military isn't all fighting. You don't go to a battle at 9 AM, shoot people, and come come at 5, just in time for a rerun of Becker. These men are in close quarters for extended periods of time. They sleep together, exercise together, take showers together, If somehow a soldier was discovered to be gay, troop morale would take a nosedive, he'd be ostracized...or worse. It would be uncomfortable for all the gay soldiers and the entire company. And you know how dangerous low morale is.

Right, so the Germans and Japanese have spent 60 years apologising for WWII, so don't you feel you should start a few months early?

i don't mean to sidetrack the discussion, but Japanese history books cover all of WWII in one paragraph and define it as an "attempt to promote democracy in and throughout Asia."

You spelled "grammar" wrong. I could make fun of your inability to spell. I could point out all of your "grammer" errors. But I think I'll take the high road today. I'll just make fun of you because you're an idiot. You seriously think that we seriously think that you seriously eat babies, and you whine about how you don't eat babies. whining that you don't like smokin' baby-back ribs proves that you're a Newb. If I said "fuck you" would you call the police and say that I was gonna rape you? Moron. Whiny Goths like you are wasteing our time in this discousion, start watching CNN and maybe we'll listen to you.

Prophesize all you like, I just want to see some research about this. To me it sounds exactly like the doom and gloom predictions the far left made during the Reagan administration, they even made "debt clocks" that were supposed to calculate when the deficit would crumble the country.

Response to: CANADA + united states Posted June 17th, 2004 in Politics

If Green Economics and politics don't "win" in the next 40 years, we'er all going to be out of gas and oil.

good, then we'll have no choice to find an alternative fuel source. Of course I would like a link showing some research or an article regarding that claim, as long as its respected. Remember the debt clocks in the eighties?

Response to: Political Experience? Posted June 17th, 2004 in Politics

I tried all that protesting but in the end it always ends up as a Green Party forum, and they are just about the most annoying people alive, so I just sit back and watch them make fools of themselves on TV from now on.

Response to: LiveCorpse Suicide Posted June 16th, 2004 in NG News

it really is sick that you people are gloating while someone died. I don't even think the police officer that LC shot would say something like that. Shooting a police officer is a terrible crime, but he punished himself more than the law ever could.

I work(as an intern, and not very hard) for SPAN, the Social Policy Action Network, right now we're updating our directory of second chance homes. That's where they take in poor, abused or homeless(unarmed) pregnant teenage girls, and give them a home. You wouldn't believe how hostile the people who run these homes can be. I try to explain that by being added to the directory, they'll be helping out local pregnant teens and they'll be gaining recognition and possible donations from anyone reading the guide, but these people just hang up, put me on hold, scream in my ear, and worse...meh.

Political Experience? Posted June 16th, 2004 in Politics

I was wondering if anyone in these forums has had any past experience in the field of politics. I'm not talking about the high-profile dealies, I don't expect President Bush to be a regular, just little stuff like volunteering for a campaign, serving as an intern, ya know stuff like that.

Response to: Abuse of Iraqi Prisoners Posted June 7th, 2004 in Politics

they are indeed invovled in a war, and in war no-one is innocent. The iraqi's wouldve done the same. look at the videa of th head chopped off of that american. make ur own mind up.

Two wrongs don't make a right. I think its insulting to justify the actions of those soldiers because the iraqis would do it anyway. We are the World's most powerful country, we shouldn't behave this way, the reason those terrorists decapitated that man was in "retribution" for their comrades in prison. Look at Israel and Palestine, all that's going on there is just revenge. bomber blows up a bus, in revenge for Israel tanks blowing holes in his hometown in retribution for a sucide bomber blowing up a bus in retribution for tanks blowing holes in his hometown in retribution for....etc.

Response to: Mislims = terrorists? Posted June 7th, 2004 in Politics

Yes, the IRA is more interested in uniting ireland under one banner. Both sides of the conflict there are Christian, just different denominations, but the driving force behind it is the territory. I've heard abortion clinic bombers described as right-wing Christian. the difference between cultural and relgious conflict is difficult to point out, a Lutheran Klansmen may very well kill a Lutheran black man, but the Klan is widely known as anti-semitic, to both the ethnic group and to the religion. The Klan is Anti-Catholic as well and would gladly terrorize a catholic with 100 percent German or British ancestry and would welcome a French Protestant.

Though only a small country, it has accomplished more than almost any other country out there.

If the Japan continued along the path it took in the 60s and 70s, yes Japan very well could be a dominant power, but since the 90s Japan has been fraught with economic and social problems, not to mention there failure to integrate with Gaijin(foreigners) there are still "japanese only" bars and restraunts across the country. China in my opnion is the future. The Chinese are finally adopting capitalist policies, the economy is booming, it has a massive industrious populace, and a plethora of resources, plus we need China right now to keep our standard of living intact, and to keep N. Korea cool.

England is a nice place to live, but the society is MUCH too class-oriented for my liking, the average age for a girl to have sex is between 13-14 which is a european record, not to mention the catastrophic immigration problem.

sure, sure I'd go on TV and say I was sad about him dying, but there's no way in hell I'd say anything good about his policies

Response to: Reagan and bipartisan love-making. Posted June 6th, 2004 in Politics

I think the Reagan who served as President and the Reagan of the past ten or so years were completely different people. I think the Reagan that dems and teenagers love to hate died a long time ago. Reagan had been sick for a very long time. Just a while back he was given a snow-globe with a little White House inside it, he looked at the little house and said " I don't what this is, but I think it has something to do with me." So even as a strong opponent of him I still feel sad about him dying. I would consider myself left wing, BUT these dems are just pissing me off, ever since Bush got elected, they've been scampering around hiding from big issues and complaining about the stupidest little things like bush landing on a carrier in a jet. I become a little more right-wing every day. If you want people to follow you gotta show a little backbone. I'm not gonna hang around a party of wimps. All the Neo-Trotskyist Marxists or whatever on this board don't make me like the left all that much either.

Response to: Spanish as an official U.S language Posted June 6th, 2004 in Politics

I think it naive, optimistic, but naive to assume that the people of the world would get along just fine without the US. Saying the world would be perfect if the US evaporated is like saying Iraq would be a much better place if Saddam were to disapear without us invading. He was cruel, evil, etc. but at least made the trains run on time(and prevented religious civil wars, no big). There are many conflicts that the United States keeps under control even today, maybe not well, but still....Korea would be a starving communist wasteland from Pyongyang to Seoul, China would have brutally invaded its "errant province" of Taiwan. Milosovic would have succeeded in eliminating the Albanians, not to a full-scale war in the Mid-East. The US doesn't handle any of the above problems well(except for maybe Kosovo) but we do handle them. I'm not sure the UN(you have to be crazy to think that Canada could do it either) is equipped to handle them, plus President Wilson was the guy behind the whole League of Nations idea. So the US isn't doing what it could, but at least its doing a little.

Response to: Spanish as an official U.S language Posted June 5th, 2004 in Politics

So, why would we try to spend millions of dollars going towards a bilingual system like Canada's (where everything, including road signs, are bilingual) to facilitate non-citizens?

I'd love to see someone try to counter that.

I don't mean to be the Devil's advocate here, since I don't agree with the war in Iraq and I can't stand illiterate fools like Imdisturbed bad-mouthing an entire culutre, but I think liberating France would have been MUCH easier if Henri Pétain and his sniveling Vichy ilk hadn't allied with Hitler after Paris fell. While I'm glad that many French people resisted the Reich, I'm also disappointed that such a vast amount of French cowardly bowed downto Hitler and in the end fought US in battles throughout North Africa. Now don't get me wrong, I think many Americans are just being obnoxious, but also I think the French government, and to a large extent its people are being very arrogant and went about attempting to prevent Gulf War II in the completely wrong fashion.
