It saddens me that I actually have to explain that, but a great deal of you seem to think that other than that holocaust thing, Hitler was a great leader because he built up Germany from a terrible depression.
The first flaw in this reasoning is fairly obvious, ignoring the holocaust. This horrific evil had Hitler as its orchestrator (not that he did it on his own, he got by with a little help from his friends). Now, maybe you've forgotten, twelve million people were killed in the holocaust. That's jews, slavs, gypsies, handicapped people, and homosexuals. 12 million of them. A leader who does that isn't very good in my book.
But, if you insist on ignoring that, let's look at some other facts. Lifting Germany from a depression the way could have been done by anyone with the people's backing (build up your military and the economy improves? holy shit inform the media). But after doing this, Hitler led his country into an unprovoked war of aggression, making him responsible for the deaths of millions of German soldiers and civilians.
But it doesn't stop there, since the allied nations were pretty peeved with Germany, they bombed it back to the stone age, with Russia taking the eastern half. The formerly communist east Germany is still recovering from the economic ruin brought on by communist occupation, which was brought on by losing world war 2, which was brought on by hitler.
I know I've omitted a lot, so feel free to contribute to why Hitler was a shit leader, or argue with me, I can use some practice on people who don't know anything.
