The Eagles were recalled to Rome by Stilichio 1600 years ago. How could they possibly fight the Vikings?

Response to: What level are you? Posted January 16th, 2005 in General

Repeated use of the word "n00b" and re-creating a topic that's already been done. Clever.

That really wasn't appropriate for the discussion...

Are you implying something?

If they're going to put this in place for homosexuals in the military, it should be in place for heterosexuals, too. If this is what they desire, a full-coverage of the military should be in place, and no-one can discuss anything to do with sex, on any level.

Does that sound like it will happen? No.
So let them be "out" if they want to be, or not, and leave the discussions at their discretion. Equality is only equality when all aspects are equal.

Response to: English Gentleman's Club Posted January 15th, 2005 in Clubs & Crews

Things look better, now. If you're serious about keeping your club, email me ( ted@newgrounds.com ) once people do start flaming.

Response to: English Gentleman's Club Posted January 15th, 2005 in Clubs & Crews

Very English was locked for a reason. It became all flames.
This one may do better, but contact a mod before it reaches the level it was at before or this will be locked, too.

Response to: Anti-Ng Church Club Posted January 12th, 2005 in Clubs & Crews

One of the denominations of Buddhism believe Buddha was a god. You'll need to be more precise in that distinction.

And unless you're solely against the NG Church, should you not be the Alternative Church club, or some such?

Response to: The Evil Squidlike Penguin Thread Posted January 11th, 2005 in Clubs & Crews

Your club doesn't really break any rules, but it may infringe upon the "Interesting, informative, etc" one, but that's opinion. If the club flies, good luck, maybe you can all become sig-making heroes, if not, let the thread die and that's fine, too. Really, it's more suited for General, though, because it's not actually a club, it's just giving recognition and chatting with a few people.
Would you mind terrible moving it there, please?

No, no, you're mistaken. Mine are certainly superior.

Response to: Racism is a natural instinct Posted January 11th, 2005 in Politics

Even if racism were a ntural instinct, it hardly excuses us from being guilty of it. We have overcome a number of instincts as a society, and this one will be as well.

Actually, if you recall, Tom and Wade were badmouthing AOL not long ago because their mail servers were filtering out NG Sign-up confirmation letters as junk.
Unless it was merely a cover-up...

And when it's particularly devious, we scheme in italics.

2. Being gay takes away from the value of marriage. If this keeps up, one day people will go on to marry their pets. Marriage was once valued above all other relationships, except that with god. Being gay takes away from achieving an ultimate relationship. Gay people can never truly become one with another person. The same with bisexuals, if they have relationships with both sex's, one relationship will sacrifice for the other, resulting in an unhealthy lifestyle.

Really, this is among the worst arguments in the world. Known as the "slippery slope" arguments. There is no reason to connect same-sex marriage to prostitution, incest, beastiality, and most other things people try to. Check the link posted below for a better explanation of why not than I could offer.
In a superb dialogue on gay marriage in Slate, Andrew Sullivan, responding to David Frum, makes this point eloquently: "The precise challenge for morally serious people is to make rational distinctions between what is arbitrary and what is essential in important social institutions. ... If you want to argue that a lifetime of loving, faithful commitment between two women is equivalent to incest or child abuse, then please argue it. It would make for fascinating reading. But spare us this bizarre point that no new line can be drawn in access to marriage—or else everything is up for grabs and, before we know where we are, men will be marrying their dogs."

Please, see this article , which tears apart arguments against same-sex marriage.

They seem to have seriously re-done their site and their image, and now appear to be a far more respectable organisation. Kudos for the smart move to the CC.

What is this crew supposed to be about? You say to join and "take back" your culture? Tell me what its purpose is, because you're sitting close to being locked, as I can't see one right now.

The horse would be his patronus, it's actually a stag, the animagus form of his father. The thing that came out of Sirius's mouth would be his soul. The dementors eat them.

We can lock threads, unlock them, ban users for up to 7 days, and make your minds explode with telekinetic powers. I do that alot.

Response to: Hey Mods Posted January 8th, 2005 in General

I've been lucky and rarely encounter other mods locking topics I am locking.
But yeah, everyone who's topic I lock runs away crying. How can they not? They probably kill themselves too.

Is there really a point to posting this? If your brother won't listen to you, he won't listen to people he doesn't know on a website.

Response to: the politics of marraige Posted January 5th, 2005 in Politics

People are in far too big of a flap over Same-Sex Marriage. The simple thing is: You're not being forced into a same-sex marriage, you can still marry who you want, why deny others the same right? How would it, honestly, affect your life?

Response to: Has this rule ever been broken? Posted January 2nd, 2005 in General

I've banned people for it before. Topics crop up that say "OMG, I know Dobio! He lives....."etc. and spews a bunch of not necessarily true stuff about a user.

The traditional response is "By not asking to be a mod."
However, simply be a model user, post often, follow the rules, don't insult other users, be polite, etc.
