Response to: Illegal Marajuana ONLY Posted January 7th, 2003 in Politics

Another reason for illegalization is the fact that this is a democratic country, and as much as British Columbia wants it, a majority of this country supports it's continued illegality.
It is because of the silent majority that all we seem to hear is pro pot arguments, as most people don't care enough to actually try to keep in under control.
But as a democratic country, what the masses want goes. And the masses want potheads to butt out.

Response to: Illegal Marajuana ONLY Posted January 7th, 2003 in Politics

thanks for the help, Doc. reinforcements are needed at the front ;).
I see very good reasons for legalization, and I don't have any problem with people smoking it privately, but out in public and such will not only get them arrested, but offend others and harm them in the same manner.

Good god, sir you've found my formulae! Except it's thursays in rotates on it's side. Wednesday it goes inside out and plays Bingo dressed in a hula skirt and a see through straight jacket.
But there's a lot of controversial things taught in school. What they should do is teach us the alternatives, and let us decide for ourselves which of these so called "theories" sounds correct. Our minds, our opinions.

Great post, FuckingRetard. (You're name, not an insult ;)).
My feelings exactly. Tolerance is one that calimus never learned.

Response to: Gay rights Posted January 7th, 2003 in Politics

If gay parents can have kids, then society must let them. The children should not be discluded or looked down upon, teased, etc., just because their parents are gay. Gay parents deserve equality not only in the law but in the eyes of the people.
Unless people treat the children of a gay couple as they would those of a straight partnership, this will turn out like when school segregation was stopped and black children began attending the same schools as whites.
It is the same sort of people today that are against gays that were against blacks back then. Same kind of people, different targets. No, not targets, VICTIMS.

Response to: Gays should NOT be able to marry. Posted January 7th, 2003 in Politics

It can't be unnatural if people do it. For centuries gay people have been persecuted and even killed for their sexual orientation.
Nothing is unnatural is a person does it. Things become unnatural when there is an outside force influencing it to happen. And unless gays are controlled by aliens, I think that's highly unlikely.
And as for you being christian, I am as well. I'm an anglican, confirmed, and a member of a congregation.
But the bible's main teachings are peace, love, kindness, and forgiveness. I think these things (which are repeated over and over, rather than said in one or two passages) supercede everything else it said.
Morally, there is nothing wrong with homosexuality. It's love. Do you have a problem with love? Do you love your father?
This is the same, only gays love each other intimately. Morals don't even come into play. If they were to strap others down and beat them senseless, then maybe they would, but morals take no part in love.
Or law. Religion and morals and personal opinions have no places in the laws governing the people. Gays deserve the rights of everyone else. Full equality. They're human- not sub-standard. They're just like you and I and they should be able to do whatever we can.

Actually, killing people because of tehir religious beliefs is stupid. Nearly every god currently worshiped by any large number of people on earth preaches peace and love and forgiveness.

Killing people because they don't worship the same God as you is going against yuor own god.
But then again, religions are notorious hippocrites.

Then if we know the education system is corrupting the geniuses and the intellectual then we must educate ourselves. :) that'd be nice.
But I agree- blindly going along with the crowd is the stupidest thing you can do.

It isn't necessarilt all those things, as if they were to try the nazi way today, they'd have to change. back to it's roots of nationalism, but hopefully this time they'd only go so far as national pride and unity. No more genocide.

Sex is like a great workout for the entire body. Besides burning calories, it makes the heart beat faster, pumping out more blood and giving your system a complete workout.
It is good for almost every part of the bosy without any negative side effects. Totally good.

Focus on "because our way is the right way". That's a a statement that is very arrogant and you're full of yourself. Not open to debate or opposition, a black and white world.
"Our way is the right way" is something that would be said by those who had not thoroughly studied other ways. From the point of view of Iraq's people, Saddam may be a great leader. We have no right to suddenly invade and toss him out because we think he has weapons of mass distruction.
So what? The US has 2000 of them. Maybe the US should invade itself and throw out George Bush.
They have as much right as the US does to have Nuclear weapons.

Response to: The bible Posted January 7th, 2003 in Politics

And none of the bible is the exact word of god. It was written by men who were around at the time witnessing the events. God didn't open up the heavens and pass down a leather bound book, here.
I myself am anti-bible, asm it contradicts itself over and over, each time trying to impose new morals while overruning older ones.

We really don't care about age, just as long as you're able to continue a conversation on the forums without resorting to name calling and insults.

Response to: Illegalize Masturbation Posted January 7th, 2003 in Politics

I'm only posting opinions on this because I want to continue this. Somehow an argument has formed over this when the joke is already out and told.
(I support legal masturbation but not legal cannabis because masturbation is not at all harmful, and it is a natural process)

Congrats to everyone who has posted in this thread.
You've all managed to have a thread go on a debate while all taking the same side. Everyone is anti-bible and you've all managed to discuss this to a great extent.
Now let's focus on something with differing opinions? ;)

Response to: 3 ideas for the politics board Posted January 6th, 2003 in Politics

And really, Politics is the best name possible for this board. It isn't just a name, it's a shield. It shields us from the name calling, the boorishness or the General board users. It keeps out the people who would post topics like "sex is fun" and "vote five on me movies".
It helps to draw in the conversational elite, the ones who can keep up a debate and actually discuss current affairs and issues.
In short the name Politics is like a sieve when you're making spaghetti. All the useless people that can't discuss anything other than Tricky the clown flow through, but the oh so valuable spaghetti stays and posts in the forum.

Very good points. I've never really thought about it, other that I know that it is legal in Nevada and has worked out fine.
I think it should be legal, as it's her body, and is an easily regulated industry. It isn't at all harmful, and has no reason for continued forbiddance.

Response to: legalize marijuana? Posted January 6th, 2003 in Politics

I don't feel like arguing at the moment, but for all you people who live near the American/Canadian border, let me tell you something that may be of great interest to you.
Please don't take as serious legal advice, this is only based on a few sources.
There was recently a trial in Canada pertaining to a teen who was arrested for Marijuana posession. He took it to court, and the judge of the court ruled that the Controlled Substances Act could not apply because in went against some other act, so he threw the act out and gave the government 12 months to write up a new act. They did, but made it a basically weasel act, just a thing that re-enacted the old act under a new name with the supervision of the minister involved Vetoing it.
The judge has said this is not good enough, and has thrown it out as well, and told them in specific terms to pass something through parliament.

So for all of you who want a very basic summarization?

*There is currently NO law in Canada prohibiting the sale, possesion, or use of marijuana.

I warn you however, police are still likely to arrest you, but if you should happen to go to court, you are almost guaranteed a victory and charges dropped.

It's almost like Amsterdam has opened up a new location just north of the US.

I still don't support the use of it, but I don't have a problem with other people doing it. There's no legal restrictions right now, so go wild.

Response to: NAZI'S SUCK! Posted January 6th, 2003 in Politics

I'm not a nazi supporter, I'm just here for a good argument. It is possible that the Nazi party is just as good as liberals, or conservatives or republicans or democrats, they just carried nationalism too far.
They brought it past national pride and unity into all out racism and war.
Current day nazis could become a viable political party and government.

Legally, gays are as equal as the rest of us, and they deserve their rights. Religiously, and listen up all you bible quoting christians.
WAY too many of you think god wrote it. WAY too many of you think it was handed down from heaven in the King James Version.
This is the words of people who witnessed these things happening, it's no more influential that historical fiction. Go worship "Love in WW2" or something.
