Response to: - The Regulars Lounge Thread - Posted January 31st, 2008 in Politics

I realize it's been months since I've frequented the politics forum, let alone the Regulars thread, but it seemed appropriate to post here. I've resigned my modship, and likely from Newgrounds as well. I've enjoyed my time here: the people I've met and debates had, particularly in this forum, but I just don't have the time for it any longer.

I remember when the Lounge thread had its first page, and I felt I had to put my last post in it as well.
All the best to everyone.

There was a musical of this on stage in Toronto - do a google search, perhaps it's playing elsewhere.

I quite enjoyed it.

I doubt they believe they themselves would benefit from a more socialist society - on the contrary, in fact. To respond without cynicism, they are simply advocating a system that is more humanitarian and equal, that promotes community and aid over competition and defeat.

More realistically, however, it's just for publicity, and they wouldn't want to pay the higher costs associated with a socialist system.

Response to: More Abortions, Less Crime Posted July 17th, 2007 in Politics

Well, there are a few glib responses that I could make...any decriminalizations logically lead to less criminal acts, as there are fewer possibly offences. Fewer people means fewer offences. You mean you support abortion, you liberal? Etc.

But in truth, and without meaning prejudice, there is a certain socioeconomic group that encounters more unwanted pregnancies. Low income families have less access to education, particularly sex ed, as well as valuable health services and contraception. While the overall US abortion rate declines, the abortion rate among low income women has been rising (Source).

If we want to lower abortion rates, we need to lower accidental pregnancy rates, the fastest way of doing so is teaching proper sexual education and improving access to contraceptives - two ideas that don't work so well with certain relgious and right-leaning agendas.

Actually, making "I got banned" posts is a bannable offence. But no, unless one of us signs the message, you have no recourse to find out.

Response to: Question for Mods... Posted May 1st, 2007 in General

I wasn't banned before I was modded, but I was very outspoken about the uselessness of the politics mods (and how we had no need for them). It merited me some strong words, but never a ban. Namely, it was directed against Andrea (funkapotimus), who I later came to like.

Or maybe just telling chicks they're your fantasy girl is enough, just make sure it's true.

As long as you're telling them the latter. Somehow "I jerk off to you" just doesn't have the same ring to it.

An abcess is a void filled with liquid disgusting.
Wait, doesn't that also define Funk?

Good luck with it, man. I had a similar case, and it wasn't fun.

If not, be sure to check the Art Forum Rules before creating a topic, in order to make sure it is acceptable.

Response to: Newgrounds New Rule! Posted December 15th, 2006 in General

Moderators have posted in the past that saying something like "Rape her" will get you banned. All gimmick posts or offensive phrases may.

That being said, those who keep posting in this thread with rape references will be banned.

Response to: Abusive PM's Posted December 15th, 2006 in General

The PM system is an independant part of the site from the forums. We don't ban on the BBS for portal infractions, abusive reviews, or insulting PMs. Users are to maintain their own PM security by ignoring and blocking users.

While on the subject, please note that a moderator or administrator will never ask you for your password. Please don't give it out.

Response to: General Tso's Chicken Posted December 13th, 2006 in General

Gleefully stolen from Wikipedia:
The "Tso" in General Tso might be approximated as "zwoh", but correct pronunciation of Mandarin is not necessarily intuitive for English speakers.

If you people cannot post with respect and intelligence, with responses other than "rape/eat/rape and eat" them, then perhaps you should stop posting on the forums. Bans for all the idiots who did, so respond correctly or don't post at all.

It has long been standard that theological discussions, much like those of a philosphical nature, fall under the umbrella of Politics, at least as far as Newgrounds is concerned.

I, for one, say yes.

I'm a bit late in my remarks, but congratulations to the club on passing 1,000 pages. I've been periodically following your progress since the original debate and drama surrounding your inception, and I'm proud of how well the group has turned out.

If all clubs were as quick to notify mods of infractions and spam in their threads, the C&C would be a better place.

Congratulations.

I donate every time that the Canadian Blood Services hold a clinic. Unfortunately, I'm not eligable again until the start of July, so I'll be sure to donate then in lieu of the 14th.

So, sign me up for this little crew of yours. I'll let you know the next time I give some of the red stuff.
