You could try to copy+paste your frames into a movieclip, and then shrink that down (and reduce the document size as well), then export your movie that way. I usually put my different scenes into a movieclip or graphic simply for this reason, and to save headaches later if I need to resize things.
Good luck. Hope you can get everything working right.

1. Are we allowed to use voice actors that are not part of the power of three team, to do some voices.
I've been wondering this as well. Having to do all the voice overs myself would lessen the quality of the game.

Well, for starters, a site that usually everybody recommends is Flashkit.com.
I recently discovered a nice site here. You may be required to make an account, but it's all free.
Google has been my best friend for finding sound effects for years now... So if you can't find what you're looking for from those two sites, try google. Generally, adding a .mp3 or .wav in the search bar helps when you're looking for a sound clip.
Hope that helps.

The alternative is to put each different sequence of a character into a symbol(which i do already for my walk cycle) decreasing strain on the main timeline, but then its harder to edit to the main timeline with the other characters, as well as flood my library.
So im wondering, Whats the best way to organize an fla file. Pnt screens would be nice if u have them, but its ok if u dont.
Heres mine below
Hm... I'd like to see what other people do as well, in terms of how they organize their timeline.
What I usually do is I put each scene into it's own folder, depending on how long the movie is, so I can organize the characters/objects/backgrounds/whatever easier. For loops, or other animations, I usually put them into their own symbol (usually a graphic, that way I can play it on the main timeline and match things up easier). I used to put animations into the main timeline, but I find that this method is risky, simply because if I need to change the size or location of the animation/character, I'd have to do it for every frame. Putting it in it's own symbol makes that easier on me if I need to change something.
Seeing as how you have a ****-ton of layers/folders, I'd say try and make the main timeline as simple as you can, and put characters/animations into their own symbol if it's feasable for you. As for the library, remember, you can make folders for it as well, so spending a few extra minutes organizing your library well can save you time later on.
It's kind of like managing files on your computer - You can put them into well-organized folders early on and save yourself time later if you need to find something, or you can just let it all go and try and wade through the chaos when you need to find something.

I've never used Gamemaker, so I can't help ya there, but couldn't you work on the animations at home, put them on a flash drive (or some kind of storage device) and bring in the .gifs that way?
I know that doesn't solve the problem of not being able to work at school, but that's all I've got beyond finding an alternate program that you can use on your school computers, or installing flash itself on a school computer.
Sorry. :(
I used scenes for one of my first movies that I made (which happened to be around 8 minutes long), and using scenes ended up causes a lot of headaches.
If your movie happens to use a lot of audio, and it ends up being long like mine was, then when you use scenes, eventually the audio's sync with the animation messes up, and it'll be way off.
Unless they've fixed this yet, it'd probably be wise to keep your movie in one scene if it ends up being pretty long.

also can someone please explain why not eating meat helps the environment, i've seen that posted in this topic multiple times, and the only explanation i;'ve seen is "plants release oxygen" which has nothing to do with eating meat or not eating meat
Well, I don't eat meat just because the living (if you want to call it that) conditions the animals live through. Eating meat itself is simply disgusting to me, so no, I wouldn't eat that Kobe beef if it was given to me. That is interesting though, reading about how they treat those animals.
Choosing not to eat meat can help the environment because you're choosing to not support the companies that supply that meat.
If those companies stopped doing what they were doing, or even cleaned themselves up and changed their methods for the better, then the environment would benefit from it.

Raw foods are excellent! I've been to a raw food potluck, it was great.
Forgot to comment on this part. :P
Raw foods rock! The biggest problem that my dad and I face with raw foods right now is the preparation it can take (depending on what you make). Raw food recipes that are quick are really appealing to us right now.
I really enjoy making smoothies, whether they're fruit smoothing, green smoothies, or a mix of both. I could go for one right now. :D

Your point about the dog lovers is perfectly valid and I use it a lot when people confront me about my lifestyle. Everyone gets pretty uncomfortable when I ask them about what exactly the difference between a cuddly animal and a bovine is. Do the lives of cute animals have a higher value than those that are not? I managed to shut up an entire group of omnivores with that simple logic one day, and they couldn't manage a retort at all.

Thanks, nice to meetcha!
I had an interesting conversation with a few of my friends who happen to be Christians a few months ago. They come from a family that hunts and eats meat. Their justification to eating meat was that, "Animals don't have souls, and God put them here so we can eat them."
I won't get into the whole animals and souls thing, but those two comments really took me back.
The way I see it, whether animals really have souls or not, or whether souls are really what we think they are, if there indeed is a Creator, then the very least thing I could do is respect his/her's creation. Especially from a Christian perspective, the Bible talks about us being "stewards of the Earth," and as such, I doubt part of that job includes butchering the animals and consuming their flesh. Heck, we've obviously proven that you can survive without meat, and even thrive and feel healthier without it. I doubt the primary reason animals are here are so we can eat them.
Now, whether animals have souls or not, they do seem to have the potential to express love, just like we do. They feel emotions, just like we do. The whole "they don't have souls" thing really just seemed to be a weak justification for killing animals.
I highly doubt Jesus, if he was alive today, would go grab his 22 during hunting season and go shoot Bambi and his family.
Anyways, it was interesting to hear that from people who claim to be religious, and their very religion is all about love, kindness, and forgiveness. I don't remember reading that love is limited only to members of our own species.
At 1/16/09 02:51 AM, Shawtey wrote: I do not eat meat, I hate animals, I don't give a fuck about the environment or understand how not eating meat has anything to do with the environment
I've never understood why you would stop eating something you like to save an animal that would have died regardless weather or not you ate it, everything dies.
Well, why save anything then, right? There was no need to save Holocost victims during World War II... They would have died anyway.
That was a bit of an exaggeration, yes, but perhaps you can see the point?
Choosing to not eat meat can be a message to people that you don't support the way animals are treated, and that you don't like the concept of consuming the flesh of another living being. Many animals are treated badly on factory farms, and do need to be saved.
Animals do die eventually, yes, but what would be better;
Dying in a cage, never knowing what it's like to be free,
or
Dying after experiencing a life filled with freedom?
Some of those videos on the internet about factory farms and the way that animals are treated is disgusting. No one deserves to live a life in a cage, full of fear, human or animal.
Plus, there have been some studies that talk about how emotions like fear release chemicals into the animal's body, and those chemicals are still left in the meat when it's packaged and sent out.
I'm sure there's a difference between eating the meat of Bessy the cow, a cow who lived a happy and healthy life, and eating the meat of a cow who was scared all of it's life.
Anyways, giving up on saving something or someone because "they were going to die anyway" is a really weak philosophy.
Superman would never say that. :O
Oh, and I'm not an animal rights activist or anything, but I do love animals, and I can see why people would want to give up eating meat to stop supporting those companies, and the very idea of eating the flesh of another creature. It's gross.
Hi guys. I recently stumbled onto this thread, and it's interesting to finally find some other "herbivores," so I thought I'd say hi. It'd be great if I could join your club.
I've been a vegetarian for about 11 years now... And a vegan for almost two years.
I was seven at the time I became a vegetarian. My dad told me about how he became a vegetarian, and I decided to do it too since he was doing it. My mom didn't like that, and I had to live in a house full of meat-eaters for about 9 years or so, haha.
Looking at it now, I could never eat meat. Just the very thought of eating meat gets me a little nauseous. I see meat and instantly make the connection that it used to be a living creature. I think while many people are aware that the meat they're eating was at one time alive, they don't make the full connection that that animal had the potential to love and be loved just like dogs, cats, etc. There's a disconnect there, because I'm sure it would be difficult for any dog lover to eat their dog.
Anyways, my dad and I are actually moving towards more raw food now, and I've been to a few raw food seminars in the past two years. Those things are fun. They're like modern-day hippy movements, without the drugs. lol

Lets say, if you want the have the camera pan out in a big shot, but you want the text to stay in the center of the screen, like the title of a movie. I'm trying to have some movie controller buttons at the bottom of the screen. I know it would be possible to tween the buttons and keep them the same size as the camera, but is there an easier way?
I'm using this camera:
http://www.oreillynet.com/pub/a/javascri pt/2004/08/17/flashhacks.html?page=2
I had to do something similar in one of my movies that I made. I needed a "record" symbol and text to stay with the camera. What I did was I converted the camera hack thing into a symbol, then went into the symbol and made a new layer for my record graphics. Then, when I moved the symbol on the stage like I would with the regular camera, and I enlarged or shrunk it, the text stayed with the camera.
So, anyways, try making the camera into a symbol, and then adding the text you want as a separate layer within the symbol. Hope that helps!
Awesome, thanks for the help guys. Widescreen looks awesome on the computer, and now being able to get it at a correct format for the TV will be even sweeter. Can't wait to get started on my next project. :D
Hi, I was wondering if anybody has a recommendation for a good stage size that will translate well to a TV? I'd like to be able to play my creations on a TV, and then (if I have to) reduce the size down when I export the web version. That way I can show off my animations to my friends (most of them unfortunately don't seem to have computers >.>), and then upload them to here or my website.
Oh, and if a stage size works well for both TV and web playback, then I guess I wouldn't have to reduce the size down, which would be convenient.
I suppose this is kinda important to mention too; I'd prefer a widescreen format.
So, any ideas?
This solution is pretty simple. Whenever you select your audio in the timeline, down near the properties tab on the right it'll show something like:
Sound:
Effect:
Sync:
To change the volume of your audio, click "edit" next to "Effect" and a window called "Edit Envelope" will open up. The square on the top channel (which is also the left channel), and the square on the bottom channel (or the right channel) represent the volume of your audio. Just click and drag the little squares on both channels down to where you want the volume of your audio to be.
For instance, if you dragged both of the squares to halfway between the top and the bottom of each channel, the sound volume will be at 50% of what it was originally.
You can go further with this by clicking anywhere on either channel and doing so will make a new square, so moving that second square that you created can allow you to do things like fade the audio in or out.
Anyways, hope that helped, and I hope I didn't over-complicate it. lol

I dont necessarily see that as a bad thing, thats how you grow in exposure and recognizeability. In fact I'd actually recommend that you make your own youtube page and make a habit of posting your stuff on youtube on your own sort of as a deterent to the leechers and to satisfy the mainstream publics craving for your stuff.. then you atleast become the reliable source for future fans and on each movie description on youtube you can be like 'you can find the high res version here - link to your movie. I think the more negatively you treat the situation the more rebelious people become in trying to get around you. You should just be smart and concious of the trends and capabilities of the internet in this day and age and find a way to make them work for you.
I'd have to agree with Luis here. If you made your own account and uploaded your movies at a better quality then the people who are ripping your movie off, people would most likely flock to your upload. If people are going to just do it anyway, why not provide better quality for them, while promoting viewers to come to you directly, instead of people that rip you off? Makes sense to me. :P
Hi, I was wondering if anybody knows if they corrected the "audio sync" problem that appears to happen in CS3 when the flash video is pretty long? I had to switch my compression choice when publishing to ADPCM in order to get the audio sync working... And as a result, my movie increased to about 8 MB instead of 4, and the audio quality for ADPCM wasn't even as good as the MP3 compression would've been. So, have they fixed this in CS4, or shall I just cut my movies into segments from now on, or just suffer at the large amount of file sizes I'll be witnessing?
Thanks.
