Well, when I say GOOD, I mean good enough for a kid to receive praise. I'm pretty sure I was rubbish as a kid.
Receiving praise when you were a kid, it's a beginning. But either you are dedicated to draw or you're not. You won't improve if you have the wrong mindset. If artists look back at what they've made in the past they can often hardly believe they've made it. It can look like rubbish but that isn't a reason for giving up on drawing. It is more an indication that you've become better. You see new things that you haven't seen before. You'll see mistakes that you'd never dare to try again. It doesn't matter if those mistakes were small or huge. The important part is that you've improved your skills.
It's really up to you, If you have the motivation and you are eager to learn than you'll succeed. Just try to have the right mindset. You're never too old to learn how to draw even if you think you were rubbish as a child. Just try to avoid tracing. With that method you'll learn nothing.
Hello
Larrynachos, you say that drawing was your passion and that you had become really good it. Thus, I find it hard to believe that you lost your drawing skills. They may be a bit rusty (probably), but with a little bit of patience and dedication you'll find that you'll be more able to draw like in the past. Perhaps you'll improve fast and you'll realise that you've become better.
You can learn how to draw at any age. Just try to avoid books like (How to draw ...). These books make you believe that you need to learn a recipe for every subject. Maybe it's best if you try to make a habit of drawing every day. Furthermore you need to practise observational drawing. If you do that a lot you'll also find it much easier to draw from imagination because you used learned knowledge with observation.
I think you should pursue with drawing (and animation). It's also very important to try to make it a habit of drawing on paper. Personally I find it harder to draw with my drawing tablet than with pencil on paper. So I think you'll see the importance. In addition you'll learn more with traditional drawing and those learned skills you can apply to drawing with a Stylos on a tablet. Above all drawing and animation requires patience and motivation. I have made the mistake of drawing my first animation with a mouse and I still make some proportion mistakes if I draw from imagination. So I try to draw every day at least something in january it was manga. Now I draw some hands from reference. I am slowly practising my drawing and observing skills so I can start with anatomy. If you're interested in a method of practising drawing, that's currently my method.
I'm 100 % sure that you will find your drawing skills back. And it won't take long.

Thx for your reply,
I find the feedback on transition extremely helpful. I will certainly add the little sequence where they step through the gate. I agree that it could be a bit difficult to understand with only the wormhole transition. Since most people won't even know that that was a wormhole. Also the proportions issue has always been a weak point of me. But I realise now more than ever that I need to practise it more. The style will improve over time, no doubt about that. I'm still improving, but I like to finish the story in the same style I started it with. I'm really glad you enjoyed the story and the animation. Because mostly I'm insecure about what people might think of my work. Link is also down, I don't want to spoil to much of it. Oh and btw it's Tataglia not Tatagalia ;)
It's not really an issue for me (yet). This is still an animation to learn Flash not to be perfect in every way. I was just hoping on some more positive feedback. But in the future I will certainly try to improve my proportions. For now I will just finish the story.
So, I'm halfway toward completing this project. There's still some minor tweaking to be done. And I know that some proportions aren't always correct. The first half is more an introduction. The story will be more developed in the second half.
It is based on a tv serie and I think it can be difficult to understand for people who haven't watched the show. I'm wondering what you guys think. Also i'm considering the possibility of submitting this as Part 1.
