I guess you decided to make a new topic for it. I'll repost my retort then, as it's applicable?

Different strokes for different folks, ja? Philosophy has changed the world on several occaisons, and some of us can't help but think about those useless ideas.
Politics changes the world and is goverbned mainly by mob mentality and now, in our post-modern society, the media. Philosophy itself holds no importance to the natural world.
It depends on the way it's looked at. In certain periods, it was philosophy behind the politics. Some examples:
The philosophy of Hitler and Aryanism (Yes, I played the Hitler card. Es tut mir Leid.)
The philosophy of Communism (although we all can agree this was followed in name only).
The philosophies of various Englightened Despots.
The philosophies (in American culture) of various French and English political philosophers from the 1600-1700s essentially created the US Constitution. This is probably the most concrete example I have at the moment.
It's just one of many, many things which impact society in subtle ways.
