As being said here - stop using an illustrator, and get the photoshop or Paint tool Sai. Learn how to shade, and voila - Piece of brilliance. Good luck.

Artist - is a person, who is not only likes to show his feels on the paper sheet, but also someone, who paints the real world in his own colors and shades and leaves nice print behind what he colored and shaded. Artist lives in his own world with his own rules, that's why every artist is trying to put and show at least a little of his own feels.

Speaking about Art, everyone has his own imagination and opinion about it. It means, that Art - is representation of any kind, that fills the person's soul with spectacular emotions.

But that's just my opinion.
