I am unsure that the top officials should be sued, but I do know changed must be made to policy to disallow this kind of behavior. U.S. citizens or not, POWs as they are, as disgustings the things they may have done are, they have not been properly tried or proven guilty. Remember, it's not necessarily just suicide bombers they dragged off the battlefield, it may have been a raid involving some sort of misunderstanding or not. All that aside, they are still humans and this kind of torture is unnecessary.

It doesn't matter whether they're healthy or not. As long as noone's trying to deny the health risks and they're clearly labeled, let people damage their own bodies if they want. It's not yours or the governments job to decide how much candy people can have, and what their bedtime is, and what's "best" for them. It is an individual's choice whether they think the temporary effects of a drug outweigh the longterm effects. And sometimes we do! If all we did was physically healthy, we'd never have any fun! Communism will not work because we are not ants. We do not have a collective group conscience; not everyone will follow the law. Communism never ends up in a free society because the leaders abuse their power and do not include democracy. Pure communism is bad because it limits the right to participate in the free market. Communism forgets the problem of scarcity. Communism forgets the problem of trying to regulate the income and possesions of everyone. Communism does not allow for enough personal freedom. Communism in the current day society at the state level is impossible because no country has the resources to implement it without the vast majority of people becoming impoverished.
Communism is not a viable option in large societies at this time; a blend of left and right is the best option.
Also, small communes (as in kibutzes) work fine because
1. They're small and can sustain themselves
2. People choose to participate
3. There can't be abuse of power when there is no real power in the community (i.e. no sovereign nation to control)

In the Middle East, from what I've heard, Al Jazeera is the edgy sort of station, but that's just in the Middle East. Over here they seem a whole lot worse, because the norm there is so much different from the norm here. Here our Democrat Party is considered very liberal by some, but it's nothing compared to some of the European liberal parties.
But Al Jazeera, regardless of how it is compared to the MIddle East, is still a biased and disturbing news station, similar to Fox News but more outright.
It's sad to see that Al Jazeera is the EDGY source of news in the Middle East. =\
