It's looks pretty sweet... a nazi assassin babe.

I would say you should stretch the figure lengthwise. It looks like it's been crunched together a little. Also I would consider making her smaller on the page, just because it's kind of distracting to have her so massive in the field of view.
If you do stretch her, while you're at it you could overlap the sword with her fingers or part of her forearm to link them together in the composition. They're strangely separated as it is.

Just some compositional tips, otherwise it looks great.

Also, not to be a dick, but I wish you hadn't encouraged tracing and overpainting to that extent in the tutorial.

Now we're just going to get a bunch of traced pornography with skirts and guns slapped on...

Reference is a good learning tool, but tracing and overpainting photos is going a little overboard for a contest (unless of course, you take your own reference pictures).

Isn't that the worst place to put ads? I thought the point of the black borders was to improve the cinematic experience, but this just puts a big colorful distracting border around the movies. They have these on college humor and whenever I come across one I reload the movie and hope the ad doesn't come back because it's so distracting.

The makers of the game believe that he is cheating. The Bark at the moon video is another example he gave.

How could he possibly not be cheating?
On bark at the moon at like 2:50 the keys literally play themselves. Unless that's some advanced technique that I'm not aware of, it must be a fake video.

The original is always better, cause usually the original has a certain...atmosphere about it.

If you heard the original, and liked it, then heard a remix, you wouldnt feel the same, thus making you think that the original is better, when music wise, the remix may be better.

well, wasnt this a worthless post.

No, I'm pretty sure Paragon's would be a lot better either way. The Remix is basically the same song except dumbed down. It took out all the complicated/interesting stuff.
Normally I'm not so critical, but this guy said that his own song could be better than the song he's remixing (which is one of the most downloaded songs in the portal for good reason)?
An outrageous and disrespectful claim.

You aren't really singing is the problem. You're just talking to a tune.

When you record your vocals, make sure no ones home and go at it.
You have to project. Sing LOUD and from your stomach not your throat. You're obviously holding back in this recording.
It doesn't matter what sort of voice you have; if you do it with passion, it'll sound good.

Or so I think.

How can you compare a punk song, to an orchestral song, to a hip hop song?
It just doesn't seem possible for it to be judged fairly.
I mean I'm not in it, so it doesn't matter to me. Just saying.

Shouldn't there be some sort of guidelines, or a specific genre, or something to go on. It seems kind of pointless for everyone to make a completely random song and then pick which is best.
Plus if you do it by genre or theme you can do this contest many times and it will always be new.

Bass is not limited to the exact way that you happen to play it. There is nothing wrong with a 12 string bass, and there is nothing wrong with using a pick. Don't be such a bunch of elitist wankers.

Yes fingerstyle is better for probably most styles of music.
But for fast skate punk and the like, there's no denying that picking sounds awesome.
It's all personal preference. You probably like fingerstyle better because that's what you play.
I pick, but I use fingers during mellow parts, and I would use fingers if I was playing a different style of music.

I use a pick because it sounds better for my style of music and play.

People wanna play guitar because it probably sounds better to them, I think the guitar has a prettier sound than bass. Solos? Most people play rhythm, and not lead. Whoop-de-doo, you can play a guitar solo on bass, it's in fact easier because you have more space and the strings are thicker. Bass guitar in most popular music today is a background instrument or back up, and that doesn't make people who think that the most ignorant fucks ever. However if you do a little digging, some popular music has pretty damn good bass playing.

"Bassist give the song melody and generally play exactly what the lead guitar plays, just not chorded" that's called playing the roots, and it's much much much easier than playings chords. Bassists do have the occasional strange rhythm to play, but most of the time it's simple so that he and the drummer can lay down the rhythm for the rest of the band.
I don't know why you started this off all pissed, but it doesn't give bassists a good name...
Try and work on anger management.

I'm not biased either way because I play both instruments, but from my experience most of that is wrong.

Playing a guitar solo on a bass is in fact much harder, because like you said, the strings are thicker and more spaced out. It's easier to fret faster and pick faster in a smaller area.

Playing the roots on a bass is not easier than playing power chords on a guitar. They're essentially the same thing. Making a power chord is just as easy as barring a fat string on a bass. You can also play chords on bass, and they're just as hard as guitar chords.

Also I'm in a simple 3 piece punk band, and the bass is almost never playing the same thing as the guitar.

That's just my experience though.
