Can somebody make me a relatively simple sig, something similar to what I currently have, just "sushi13" written in a cool font or with a neat design?
Thanks in advance!

Topic: Games You Gave A Second Chance To

Posted: 11/25/09 09:09 AM

Forum: Video Games

First time I played Morrowind I couldn't get used to it and so I gave up and played something more straightforward.
Decided to give it another go and found it pretty fun but I got way too far into the main quest without doing anything else and realised I would need to do a lot of grinding to make up for it. Gave up again.
Third time was the charm. I took a different approach; did some guild quests and just went out exploring. I ended up having a really great time and subsequently it's now one of my all time favorite games.

THERE IS NO LINE

I have to agree. Organised religions will use any dirty trick they can to get what they want.

I've been waiting for Dante's Inferno for quite some time now. Sounds like a really sweet idea. Hope it doesn't disappoint like Clive Barker's Jericho; another game that sounded really great and I was looking forward to for a long time but was very poorly executed.

It's one to keep track of the members. You'll need to add it to your friends list to be included in future updates.

Most of us have added the gamertag now, we're just waiting for Jonas, BBM, wafflecake12, Lagamuffin, AllMightyBruce, DumbassDude and Hemlok.
If you speak to any of these guys give them a push in the right direction. The sooner they add the gamertag the sooner I will start a new thread.

Phew just finished Dead Space on impossible. Not especially hard but it definitely took me longer than I thought. Guess I haven't spent as much time gaming in the last week as I normally would. I'm glad to be moving onto a different game after spending 10-11 hours playing Dead Space whereas I normally can't spend more than 5 hours on one game without wanting to play something else.

Sorry for the double post but I should point out that everything is almost ready for the new thread to be started. Me and BBM are still looking at a problem with the script but hopefully it should be sorted by the time we need it.
The first post of the new thread will include any of us regs who are on the friends list of the gamertag I created, NG Leaderboard. Once the majority of us are on there I will start the new thread.
BTW I know the avatar isn't great. I wouldn't have made one but it forced me to so I just created an incredibly generic looking guy. I'm open to any good suggestions.

They're rental games for offline players since there's little replay value. Still good though.

Agreed, but I had to rent from Blockbusters at a high nightly rate. I only had it for 3 or 4 days and it was a bugger trying to get all the achievements in that time.

Yeah I rented Modern Warfare a long time ago and beat it. GRAW for Overlord sounds like a good trade to me. PM me your address and I'll PM you mine. Unless you live in Sydney and would rather do it in person.

World At War, Modern Warfare 2, Borderlands, Prototype, SKATE.
I have; Dead Space, G.R.A.W (cheats on it nets an easy 600 gamescore), Kameo (600 on one playthrough), Fracture, Crackdown, Bioshock/Oblivion, Gears of War 1 and 2, Halo 3, Monster Madness, Fatal Inertia, Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts.

World At War, Prototype and Skate are all things I'd want. Don't have MW2 and I have Borderlands but I'm still in the middle of playing it.

I don't mind, it just depends on whether I have any games you want; I have a a stack of 30 dollar games (though they're not that bad) but a few bigger ones. What are you looking for anyway?

No. You're just making connections that aren't really there. Look at almost any country and I'm sure you'll find a lot of violence in its history.
I don't think that you can say that Australia has a recent history of violence just because some convicts were sent here over 150 years ago. Britain and Ireland also sent convicts to North America between the early 17th century and the revolutionary war but I wouldn't cite that as recent violence either. Look at the history of Australia and you'll find it a pretty peaceful country. The only conflicts that I can think of Australians taking part in are because they gave support to the USA or Britain in their wars.

Well it looks almost everybody has posted their opinions and even if the few that haven't go completely against the grain it still wont be enough to change the majority.

The results are as follows:

1) Should we remove people who have changed their info or left the site?

Almost everybody answered "yes" to this, and I received numerous suggestions about making restrictions to stop people signing up and never contributing to the community. More about that later.

2) Should we allow modders and gamesavers on the leaderboard?

This had more mixed opinion than 1) but the majority response was "no". As I explained in a previous post the communal gamertag will not accommodate modders or gamesavers who get caught by Microsoft and I think this is good enough for now. In the future if anybody is known to be modding or gamesaving and has not yet been banned by Microsoft we, as a community, will have to decide what to do based on the circumstances.

3) Should we set up a communal gamertag and have everybody on its friends list?

I don't think there was a single person who said this was a bad idea. I will be implementing this very soon.

4) What do you think of the required 500 posts to join the leaderboard?

Most people are happy with the current requirement and as such it will not be changed. There has been mention of other possible restrictions and I think this is a very good idea.

5) Should we start a new thread and lock this one?

There were a number of people who didn't like this idea although the majority answer was "yes" with various reasons cited. So we will be starting a new thread really soon.

Further restrictions.

Frankly I think the best restriction we can make is that people who wish to be part of the leaderboard should take an active role in participating in the thread. The 500 posts will ensure that anybody who signs up will be at least reasonably committed to Newgrounds and I propose that to remain part of the leaderboard and be included in the updates everybody should be required to make at least one post in this thread every fortnight.
Do you agree with this?

Posted: 11/21/09 09:35 AM

Forum: Video Games

I can't see Microsoft making it free and I really don't care. I'm happy to pay a few bucks per month for the service. In fact you almost never hear people who use XBL complaining that they have to pay for it; it's the people who don't have it who moan about the price. And anybody who doesn't like Xbox always uses it as an insult against Xbox Live.
Basically the people who complain don't know what they're complaining about and probably wouldn't buy a 360 even if XBL was free and the people who pay are clearly happy with paying.

No fucking way would we ever do that. The idea is to create a gamertag and add everybody who wants to be included on the leaderboard to it's friends list, just for reference purposes and to make running updates smoother. That and starting a new thread.
There is no way in hell I'd start my gamerscore over again from 0 just for an online leaderboard and I'm sure everybody else would say the same.

Just because everyone's playing Modern Warfare 2 right now doesn't mean it's the best 360 game. As far as I'm concerned MF2 is little more than a cash cow and that alone should knock it back at least 20 places.
Honestly I don't agree with a lot of the list. Dead Space and Dead Rising should both be much higher up in my opinion. And a lot of games that I really love aren't there and they can't possibly all be in the top 5.

I imagine the top 5 will include Oblivion, Mass Effect, Fallout, Modern Warfare and maybe Gears 2.

Posted: 11/20/09 02:27 AM

When I was young, like 15+ years ago, cartoons were well made, well thought out and actually had some relevance to reality. And a lot of them were more than just entertainment. They were either factually informative like The Magic School Bus and Captain Planet or taught some life lessons like Recess and Rugrats.
Now days all I see is mindless, materialistic crap. I blame Pokemon for stirring up the idea that cartoons can also be marketing tools.
