Did you know that the reason we dont do that is because or body recovers from injuries while we sleep and that our brain will get overworked... if you go too long without sleep an affect similar to being on drugs will take place.
But anyway sleeping every other day is ok, the thing is its not so convienient for some people who maybe would need to drive or something.. because even when you feel awake you arent always actually 100% functional. Especially without sleep because that distorts some of your brains natural functions, trust me.. I once went 2 weeks without sleep and it was not pleasant at all.
Plus you know that when you dont sleep as often it will become harder and harder to fall asleep when you actually try to.
