You can always use this code on a diferent layer at the end

stop();
gotoandplay("scene");

if you havent loaded the movie the thats your problem

Well the actionscript I'm using is on the last frame of the timeline (The movie I'm importing is 125 frames long so that's how long I extended the layers to). I tried putting the action script at the last frame of the layer that I'm importing to, but no dice. I tried doing the same Actionscript on another layer in the same place, no luck either. The preloader starts the flash and this scene that I'm having trouble with is what comes after it, so it shouldn't be an issue with loading.

BTW the code that I'm using is:

stop();
gotoAndPlay(nextScene);

Imported scene won't end Posted June 20th, 2009 in Game Development

I finally figured out how to import a flash movie and make it play in my cartoon from my hard drive.

Problem? Now it loops and won't go to the next scene. I tried using actionscript to tell it to stop and play the next scene but it won't listen. Heck, I even edited the file it's importing so that it doesn't loop and now it just stands there with its final frame stuck there and it won't advance to the next scene (which I plan to be the menu). Any ideas?

I'd rather do it from my hard drive.

Well I'm a N00b at flash, I'll admit. However I'll try to get something done... Just need to brainstorm a bit.

I would LOVE to do this, but you aren't exactly giving people alot of time are you?

Response to: Importing Flashes into a Flash Posted June 20th, 2009 in Game Development

I tried this, but I have a problem. The Movie I'm trying to import is on my computer, not on the internet, so it's not really working for me. I tried to make the URL in the code become the address of the file inside my hard drive, but no cigar...

Hi, I'm making a flash cartoon and a while ago, I made a little experimental flash that demonstrated my logo. I want to put this logo flash into my flash cartoon. I tried a million and one ways to import it but it either can't read it or it does import, but then there's no sound.

Any ideas?

Why shouldn't I use scenes? I have several scenes for my flash already and it works fine.

Response to: How to say sorry... Posted May 2nd, 2009 in Game Development

Well in my flash, the character bumps into a guy, "gestures" that he's sorry, and then offers to shake his hand. Also, my character isn't human and has big white dots for eyes, so while he can show emotion with his eyes, he has no specific facial features.

Hopefully this gives you guys a clue as to how to show that because I've drawn a blank.

Loading Screen Posted May 2nd, 2009 in Game Development

I want to make a Loading page for my flash. But not just any loading page. A big loading page.

I want to have the page feature a loading bar near the top, and my character turning something over after a set amount of seconds while it's loading. Of course I have to animate the character but how do I make it loop. Also, I want to make a few extra features in the menu like a link to a page with bonus content, such as Author info or concept art. I know I have to make extra scenes of those, but how do I set them do that without them getting in the way of the other scenes while playing?

Yeah, my question is a tall order, but any help would be appreciated!

How to say sorry... Posted May 2nd, 2009 in Game Development

Hi.

In my cartoon I need one of my characters to convey that they're sorry/an apology through movement. Now that would be easy enough, except none of my characters talk. Everything they do is done through gestures and actions. I'm need some sort of gesture to suggest that my character is sorry about something.

Any ideas?

InGenius, you are truly a genius! You were right, by unplugging my laptop, the buzzing sound went away! Now I feel silly for not knowing that after recording all these years. XD

Thank-You!

The Standing mic is into the computer, the headset is USB.

I use Audacity, and before you say anything, the noise canceling function sucks ass and slighlty distorts the recording when it removes the noise.

Mic/Recording issues Posted April 9th, 2009 in Audio

Hi, I have a problem with recording.

I generally do alot of it, so I'm not new at it, and I often talk to people on MSN and stuff with it. That being said, I am always annoyed that when I'm recording there is a weird buzzing noise in the background of EVERY recording, even when everything is silent.

I'm using a Cyber Acoustics Noise Cancelling Standing Mic, but this buzzing occurs even with my logictech headset, which is actually worse than the standing mic's buzzing.

Any ideas as to what the problem is.

Basic Skills Posted April 8th, 2009 in Audio

Hi! I have no idea how to make my own music on my computer. I am not good with instruments. Can someone please tell me about tips and programs to do this with?

Music Problems Posted April 5th, 2009 in Game Development

In the flash movie I'm making, some of the music is off. I have a music track playing and I make my character move according to it. Problem is that when I make a flash file/preview of it, the music is a few seconds off ruining the effectiveness of the scene.

What's wrong here? Is it the file type of the audio or is it something else?

V-Cam?

Canvas Size Problems Posted April 2nd, 2009 in Game Development

I need some help with my flash project. One of my scenes is short, about 20 seconds. Problem is that I found out the canvas size doesn't fit everything I want in it.

Normally I'd just adjust the size to everything but I have quite a few Tweens and Blur Effects which screw up parts of the scene. Whenever I try changing the canvas size, it increase goes both ways. Even though I just need to have the top of the screen move up, when I adjust the canvas height it moves up AND down. Same with width.

Is there a possible way to fix this without starting the scene from scratch?
