I wonder about this I know that companies are still brutal about copyright even when it abides by fair use laws.

Thanks that helps. Still, is there a way to have the threshold function use the pencil tool? I'm using the photoshop for an art piece right now and seeing as I'm having that problem, I'm guessing the threshold I used took settings from the paint tool. Is there anyway to fix this or redo it with the pencil functions on the threshold?
I'm very sorry if this is the wrong forum, but I wasn't sure if I was allowed to ask questions in the art forum.
I have a questions about using the fill or paint bucket tool in photoshop. For some reason, whenever I use them, it fills the section I want but there's an untouched outline of the section separating the line and the fill. Is there any way I can make it fill the whole section and not have the line and color separated?
I know that, but whenever I export it like that in flash it crashes because of the menus and whatever programming I have in my flash. I probably should've added that to the inital post.
How do I tell it to only do certain scenes?

Yesterday I released my first animation The Legend Of Shad. Seeing how many people seemed to liked it, I wanted to post it on sites like Youtube and Aniboom. However, those sites only accept video footage. I'm not sure if my version of flash can do this (I'm using MX 2004 right now) but does anyone know how I can take out the menus and make format my flash to video formats so I can post it on other sites?
HOLY CRAP! I made 9th Place!
Congrats to all the winners!
Hi.

I have a small part in my flash that goes to the beat of the music I put in it and some parts where I use sound effects.
Whenever I test the scene, it works fine. Whenever I test the movie, it's always off key. And before you ask, yes, my music and sound effects are on stream.
Could this have something to do with using scenes or the fact that I accidentally started it at 12fps without knowing what I was doing? What else could the problem possibly be?
I'll try to make something, but due to my busy schedule lately, I can't promise I'll have something by the due date.
Is there a way to edit music in flash (Eg. Pause, fast forward, rewind, cut, etc.)
I want to zoom closer to a certain part of my flash cartoon. Now I know it's obvious to just make everything bigger, but I was just wondering if there were other ways to zoom in. I don't think there are, but I just wanted to ask just in case...
Any reason why the brush wouldn't work?

Of course!
I'm trying to use the brush to edit a symbol and it's not allowing me to do anything! Whenever I do a stroke with the brush, nothing happens.
WHY IS THIS HAPPENING?!
Hi! I have a menu for my flash with a play button and 2 extra buttons leading to extra pages. When push play, I tell it to play the rest of the movie and have a layer which tween fades everything. On the last frame of the tween fade I put Actionsctipt:
gotoAndPlay(nextScene);
I put the 2 frames with the extra pages after the fade, however when I test play the movie and hit play, it shows the 2 pages after the fade and goes on to the next scene like usual, ignoring the above ActionScript. Is there a way to prevent this? Also, what's the code to link my buttons to my extra pages?
Ok, the "Hit" Thing worked!
Thanks guys!
I finished my buttons and they work the way I want them too. However, there's a minor issue that kinda bugs me. The buttons are text in front of a background. They only count as a button when the cursor goes over a letter, how do I change it so that it is considered a button when the cursor is within the area of the text button
At 7/2/09 12:57 AM, zrb wrote: Umm just a random idea here, try changing the depth of your button, it might be under other stuff:

Try doing that on all your buttons.
Well the Button itself is visible, but the corresponding message isn't. However, I see what you mean. I tried it but it didn't work. :(
Ok, never mind the button not clicking, I fixed that by breaking apart the text within the button symbol. Now my problem lies with the message.
I have a little thing showing words when everything's neutral. I want the words on that thing to change whenever the cursor goes over a button. I tried fiddling with the button settings (Up, Over, Hit, Down) and put the message on Over and Down. Still it doesn't show up. What is the problem and can you explain to me the Button Settings to make sure I got the concept right because I think I'm forgetting something about it.

Check this thing when you click on it
Did that a million times... It's always been a button. I made it a button symbol from the start.
Hi, on my menu I have 3 buttons. One to Play the movie, one for Author's Bio, and one for Characters. Buttons have 4 settings when I edit them: Up, Over, Down, and Hit. On Over I set a certain part on screen to change and show a certain text at the side when a person's mouse is over the buttons. I did this but for some reason why I test the movie, the cursor treats the button like text instead of a button and the text I put at the side doesn't appear.
Any ideas?
Not really, we're just telling you to do your own style, not attempt to piggy back on someone elses.
Dude, all your examples are peoples own stylized cartoons (Even if they are on Television). When will everyone just get it and not try to imitate another persons art style and just use your own...
There really isn't a school of each personal style, the closest thing there is are things that show you the fundamentals to create your OWN style...
Sorry, can you try to be a bit simpler. I don't know too much about actionscript. For example what's an mc?
Also, I don't see why not use scenes... they make everything simpler to divide up. Couldn't I just use scenes for the movie than make another flash file that would import the published version when I press play?
I finally figured out how to import a flash movie and make it play in my cartoon from my hard drive.
Problem? Now it loops and won't go to the next scene. I tried using actionscript to tell it to stop and play the next scene but it won't listen. Heck, I even edited the file it's importing so that it doesn't loop and now it just stands there with its final frame stuck there and it won't advance to the next scene (which I plan to be the menu). I also tried putting it in the frame right after the loading bar (Which is the scene before the one I as trying to do) , however, it's the same results. Any ideas?
Unless you bootleg it, I'm afraid you'll have to cough up some money...
I say screw the egoraptor style and just do it your own way. It almost never works with anyone else, simply because they aren't egoraptor, so it's not really their own originality or style.
While I can't say for sure, since I'm a bit of a flash newb myself, I don't think C++ works in flash. If you want to program in flash, you're gonna need to learn ActionScript. ActionScript is a bit similar to Java, so if you know that you might have a bit of an easier understanding with it.
I think there are game tutorials on the site so you can probably check those if you need help with that..
I just had problems with this very same issue a few hours ago. Although, I was importing another flash cartoon, not a game, so I'm not sure if my method will work the same. Anyway, here's how I did it:
loadMovie("*insert name of file*.swf", _root);
Keep in mind that this method works if said flash your importing is in the same folder. If it's not, then you have to put the address of it in your computer in its place. I'd recommend just loading it from the folder because I tried it the latter way and it didn't work for me.
Hope this helps! :)
