Beginner animator looking for help.

I have been on NG for a long ass time and I've decided that I want want to finally start animating. I had some questions and I hope that some of you can help. I was looking into a drawing tablet and I have no idea what I'm looking at. Do you have any recommendations? I have a Mac because I plan on using it for video editing as well. What would be a good program to start? I used flash a few times years ago and I don't remember any of it anyway. Any help would be much appreciated.
