God of War Collection

I've never played the God of War games before now, but the more I follow GOW III the more I wish I had. With the first two coming out on PS3 in one convenient collection, this is the perfect time to catch up. Also, $40!

Metroid Prime Trilogy

Been out for a while, but since I've only played through the first half on Metroid Prime 1, this should be a great purchase. Boy am I glad I never splurgedon a copy of the third one!

Batman: Arkham Asylum

It's Batman, what else to I have to say? It just looks awesome.

F Zero GX

Ooh, an oldie but a goody. I'm far from short on GameCube games, but I can't help it. I've wanted this for a while actually, but it would make a great Christmas gift.

A PS2 Slim

Is that cheating? Eh, maybe. The point is, I have a bunch of PS2 games I can't play because my old PS2 Phat has a screwy controller port.

So, that would be my dream list at this point if you can only choose five games.

This is what I would advice, from a PSP owner. You should pick up Daxter and God Of War: Chains of Olympus...

Yes! I don't even have a PSP, but every time I get the chance to play Chains of Olympus playing the DS just makes me sad for a while...

Topic: Resident Evil Marathon!

Posted: 10/25/09 03:23 PM

Forum: Video Games

For those unfamiliar with TheSpeedGamers, they stream different Video Game marathons from time to time to raise money for various charity's. In the past they've done Zelda, Mario, Mega Man, Halo, and Metroid, along with many others, and raised over $90,000 dollars across the span of 13 marathons. This week on Friday, October 30th, their 48 Hour Resident Evil marathon starts to raise money for The Diabetes Research and Wellness Foundation. The charity's mission is to "help find the cure for diabetes and until that goal is achieved, to provide the care needed to combat the detrimental and life-threatening complications of this terrible disease." So, stop by the site five days from now and watch some of the marathon, donate some money if you want to, and have fun.

For further information, check out their site, and maybe join the forum...

...Anyone else exited? We finally get a Co-op Mario Bros. game where you play at the same time, and a Penguin Suit? Sure, there's no online play and the other two characters besides Mario and Luigi are Toad (Seriously, both of them), but I honestly don't see it taking away from the experience.

I just got a PS3 a few weeks ago, but I didn't think to see if there was a club until now. So, how goes it? So far I only have MGS4, but I've been playing a lot of PS1 games on it. Why just today I was playing Final Fantasy VIII.

Fuck no.
Care to elaborate?
Ninja Gaiden is extremely generic and has dull and boring gameplay. It reminds me of a really poorly written anime, but with boring gameplay. If you want a good action game then wait for God of War III.

Care to elaborate further? Also, i'm not seeing anything abou Mirror's Edge in your post.

i did not say the ps3 and 360 vrsions are superior. In fact they're worse. U have a system that can actually run some complex games and u go and get sonic and the faghog. What a waist. If your really that into shovelware u should of stuck with the wii.

I just downloaded the demo on PSN, and that shit was tight. Plus, I played the 360 version at my cousin's house and loved it, so I'm sticking by that decision. I also downloaded the AfroSamurai demo which wasn't so tight. I'm just going to go download a few more demos (I'm typing this from my PS3 by the way).

I just got a PS3 last Friday (in between going places, posting on other forums, and playing the damn thing, I haven't had much time for NG), along with Metal Gear Solid 4. I already had an HDMI cord, so I'll go ahead and say it looks stunning. I also got The Wild Bunch, First Blood, and RoboCop on Blu-Ray, so the air's been pretty heavy with awesome lately.

Any suggestions for future purchases? I'm already planning on getting Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Sonic Unleashed (both 20$, wooh), Ghostbusters (when the price goes down to about 20$), and Batman: Arkham Asylum. That's just the "definately" pile; I may get Mirror's Edge, BioShock, Dead Space, and Battlefield: Bad Company eventually.

Paper Mario 2 is a must have if you like RPGs, especially if you've played other Mario RPGs. If you like FPSs, Geist was a lot of fun. The ghost aspect was more puzzle solving than anything else though, you don't really get to screw around with it too much. Still, it's worth getting. Viewtiful Joe is great, but since you have a PS2 I would suggest that version since you can unlock Dante from Devil May Cry. SoulCalibur II is great, and you can play as Link in the GameCube version, I would definately recommend it.

I would get StarFox Adventures, but only at a fairly low price. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it, but it isn't that much. As for Four Swords Adventures, I'll assume you know the basic info about how it split up into levels and isn't an adventure game. That said, you can have a lot of fun with single player (can use a GameCube controller). the multiplayer mode is where it really shines though, and you need a GBA for each player in that mode. If you have more than one GBA with an adapter or know anybody that does, I would definately recommend it. Otherwise, look for it cheap. The actual Donkey Konga games aren't that great, but Donkey Kong Jungle Beat is a great sidescroller and requires the Bongo controllers. I know that sounds gimmicky, but it's actually really good.

You do know they released Majora's Mask on the Virtual Console in May, right? That said, I would totally recommend it too. Or if you're a total masochist and love really hard games, Ninja Gaiden and Zelda II.

It was a SNES game by Enix that was one part action platformer and another part civilization-sim. You're basically God, one of your angels delivers your messages to different civilizations of your follwers, and directs your divine acts like rain, hurricanes, earthquakes, other stuff like that. The idea is to help them prosper while defending them from monsters, which brings us to the other half...

When a tougher enemy shows up that your angel cant defeat with arrows, you inhabit a statue a throw down yourself, in all your godly glory. Classic platforming action at it's greatest, and it's hard!
