Why is it that when I draw from reference, I feel like I'm getting better, but I try from scratch, it feels like the same garbage from when I first started?
David Hayter, because he's the voice of Jesus Christ, I mean Solid Snake.
Process of my Punished Snake illustration, if anyone is interested.
That didn't work, it does essentially the same thing, but this time clicking the item doesn't output or affect the array anymore once I switched frames WITHIN the movieclip with everything nested in it, not the timeline with just the one frame where I have the array coded. I'm perplexed.
Oh wait, I guess I could just nest everything in a single movieclip. I feel like a dope now.

Because I set it up so that each location in the game would be in its own frame. I've only ever used AS1, so I guess I'm missing something here.

I put the code in a frame that spans the entire timeline, so I don't understand.Then how can you change frames?
That's the thing, I'd like to change frames, but keep the same data. I also programmed navigational arrows.
stop();
var ary:Array = ["one", "two", "three"];
item.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, clickFunction);
function clickFunction(evt:MouseEvent):void
{
ary.unshift("one");
trace(ary);
trace(ary.indexOf("three"));
if(ary.indexOf("three")>9){
trace("test");
iteminv.gotoAndStop(2);
}
}
So I'm basically just creating a test file so I can better wrap my head around arrays. The test file has two movie clips, one for the item, and one for the item in the inventory. I want the item in the inventory to change states when a certain array reaches a certain index by clicking the item outside of it. I successfully achieved this BUT, when I change frames, the data in the array is gone. How can I remedy this? I put the code in a frame that spans the entire timeline, so I don't understand.
Another sketch I hope that I'm not too lazy to finish.
Witch Doctor WIP
A sketch I've been working on. I hope I'm not too lazy to finish it.
"Black and white music? Now, ******, that's a mixed tape!"
Revolver Ocelot playing craps with the cast of Josie and the Pussycats and Selene from Underworld is the craps dealer, with Boogle from Torin's Passage hanging from a chandelier, attempting to change into a champagne bottle.

Also something I like to do is use many different references, and not really copy one but sort of look at them and let them influence my painting. It would be interesting to see some original artwork (but it's perfectly okay to use references for original artwork as well).
BTW nsfw.
Keep it up!
Thanks, it just seems that I produce more quality work when I put more focus on my reference rather than imagination. Something I definitely need to work on.
An unfinished painting of a woman whom I feel dear.

you make me sick. blaming alcohol because you can't handle it.
Why would you sig a tweet that insults you? Oh wait, only faggots tweet. I'm drunk but I think that I have a feeling that something I said is true, or belligerently crazy.

and for the bulk of last night, I was at my happiest and most relaxed.
I know what you mean. Sometimes a spliff is all you need to get that all deserving bliss :)

I infinitely prefer being high... although last night I went back and forth between fucking loving how high I was and loathing it.
and now I just feel bloated and shitty.
High is fun, I just wish it was legal since it's less dangerous than booze, but logic hasn't stopped politics so why try now :/
I'm pretty intoxicated right now, and I'm even messaging girls that I'm sure I will soon regret as soon as I become sober.
It almost seems like, for me that is, that the "This is not a sketch, please include it in the Art Portal. " option is inverted.
It will only show up in the portal if I leave it unmarked.
A bump to commemorate the awesome site redesign!
Oh, and here's some art...

Thanks for the kind words.

Ah, thanks for the input. I was just unsure on whether or not it would be cool to share the "reference sketches". I don't think comparing it to tracing is fair if I start from a blank canvas and paint from scratch, it's just heavily influenced by a reference :P
