Its nothing like Populous. Imagine...simcity, but on a tropical island, and set in the 1960s.

You have to win (or rig) elections, make your island into a sprawling metropolis, or sell out to foreign investors.

Kinda like running Cuba I guess...

Anyway, it was really fun, and I can't wait for the squeal!

Topic: What's the appeal of SSB?

Posted: 09/06/09 01:51 PM

Forum: Video Games

I think the appeal of SSB is that it's just silly.

It's a game that you can become really good at (Its not actually a button masher) but still keep the comedy value.

It's a fairly boring game single player, the joy comes in the multiplayer, because it's just so off the wall, you can be really competitive and you can just have a laugh playing it. (Though I have been known to rage on several occasions when i just can't win!)

I'm pretty sure on TigerDirect.com that you can buy 4 GB of RAM for just about $50.

Guess RAM is more expensive in the UK then :P

So, no hacking, then no PSPgo for me. I didn't buy my original PSP with the intentions of being legitimate :P

You can't do that. It's illegal in every way.

You would need to have files or a program to set up a server on your own computer, and owning those without proper permission is illegal. You can't just play it right from the disk.

You might have to pick up a phono-3.5mm jack lead though if you want to play through them speakers too.

That would work too. Assuming you have the sense to unplug your PC first :P

Also, in regards to using HDMI, if your monitor has speakers, the sound will play through those (Which in most cases is less than ideal) so a phone jack is recommended for both options

Sorry for double

If you're trying to get a monitor over a TV to avoid paying the licence fee, don't worry.

The TV licence needs to be paid to watch TV programs as they are broadcast live. As long as you don't plug an aerial into the TV, and don't watch TV on it, you won't need to pay the licence. This also means you can hook up a DVD player, or whatever. (It also means you can watch stuff on BBC iplayer or 4 catchup after it's been broadcast and not have to worry about the licence)

A monitor may be cheaper than a TV though. I have a Hanns G, and it works just fine (Though it doesnt do so well with darker colours, so if you want to play games that have a lot of dark areas, I would get something else.)

Agreed. What I liked about Melee was that I didn't know who the unlockable characters were going to be, and so it was exciting when one appeared. (Not to mention it was much harder to get them)

I think brawl was a dissapointment overall. I would play melee over it any day.

If your monitor has an HDMI port on it, and you have an xbox HDMI cable, then yes, it will work. Mine does, and I use my computer monitor as my 360 screen, but it's not a Mac, so I'm afraid I don't know

If youre sceptical about how good it is, go watch it. It's really cheap. I got it for about £2 two years ago, so it might be 50p now. It's one of the best films ever made.

And also, it is quite exciting. (Its not modern prison, set in the 1950s I believe, though I could be wrong about the time period)

It does suck, because they are essentially giving players unlocks based on nothing at all. It is completely random. The best player in the world can go for hours without getting a single thing, whereas someone who bought the game today can get something in five minutes. It's just not fair.

Then again, neither were acheivement servers, but it was still a better system than this one

I agree with changing the way unlocks are obtained, I do not agree with the way they have done it. It makes no sense what so ever. Why couldn't they just have a Battlefield style thing where the points you gain in-game count you up to the next "rank", at which point you can choose which weapon you want to unlock.

1) Looking for a group

2) I am an artist, but I have very little knowledge of coding

3) I have quite a lot of experience with flash, and I am most comfortable doing tweening rather than FBF. This is probably the best example of my work though it is a year or so old now. Also, I prefer to work in flash 8, and I have very little knowledge of CS4.

4) For contact, I would prefer if you could drop me a PM, then if you're interested in working with me Ill send you my MSN address, just don't fancy posting it publicaly (I say that, but its probably readily available somewhere on my profile :P)

5) I have nobody in my group so far.
