I imagine a 3D animation that would be in POV. Imagine if you could walk around with that microphone in a good way, and make some sort of realistic-3D-animation-walking-around-somewhere-animation. Or, you could just have some stuff happening behind you and the camera doesn't look back at it. It's not that necessarily.

Animation + 3D sound Posted November 30th, 2013 in Audio

Hello,
This topic touches both animation and audio, so I was confused where to put the thread. I think though that since audio is the main focus, I'll put it right here.

I think most of you guys have seen this video that floated around on the internet a while back:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUDTlvagjJA

Here's another similar but not as famous and good video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u163wC6mP2A

Anyway, has anyone here tried making this kind of stuff? And especially, do anyone here know if anyone has applied this kind of audio to an animation of some sort? I think the results of that would be pretty amusing. Actually I'm considering doing something like that. I would though need to get the right gear to record the sound, so it's just wish-thinking right now.

Anyway, any thoughts on combining animation with 3D sound? Would it work? Would it be interesting? Has it already been done?

Would this be hard? Posted November 3rd, 2013 in Game Development

I'm doing this project, and I'd love to have an arm-ish thing follow the cursor like this:
http://iloveyoulikeafatladylovesapples.com/

Would this be hard to do? I think they use the armature here to make this site. If that's the case, then it might not be that advanced, right? If it is I won't give it a try, but if it's not too hard I'd love to ask if anyone has a relevant tutorial or something for this that can point me in the right direction.

Thank you! :D

Animating TV-series Posted October 20th, 2013 in Animation

Hello,
Me and my friends are quite advanced animators. We've decided that we want to make our own animated TV-series. Now I want to ask for tips and answers to some of our questions. Thank you.

1) Is there some sort of "standard" time-limit for an episode around 20 min? I've noticed that many TV-episodes without commercial breaks are around 20 min. But then it varies a bit. Some TV-series has episodes that are 22 min each, some 20 (for an example, American Dad). Is there some sort of "rule", or is it OK as long as it is a tad bit over 20? If I understand correctly 22 is the standard in the U.S. for shorter episodes, but how it is where I'm from? In other words, Europe? And why do American Dad break the standard? Is it okay to do so? Is it many that does?

2) Let's say we decide to make the episodes 22 minutes. How exact must they be? On the second 22:00, or is just around 22 okay? I mean, they could just throw in another commercial if an episode is a bit short. It'll be hard to make every episode exactly as long as the previous one.

3) About commercial breaks. Do we need to think a lot about that? Some TV-series has made so it gets darker or something similar, so we know it's time for commercials, like in Scooby-Doo. Death Note has a text that appears. I'm just curious, is this important? Or is it OK just to make the episodes and let it be up to the channels to just add in the commercials wherever they find it necessary?

4) How do we "sell" the series when we're done? Do we just call around to different channels that airs this type of stuff and hope that something happens?

Well, I hope someone here has some experience with TV and can guide us a bit by answering these questions and maybe tell us something else important we need to think about that we have perhaps not thought of.

Thanks!
:3

What's the point of this room when we now have the Collabinator?

If people want to collaborate on other things than animation, audio, or art, this room fills a purpose. Like if someone has a gaming site and needs journalists or something. But that doens't happen very often. Usually people are looking for voice actors, or animators or something like that, and we do now have the collabinator for that.

So, hasn't this room lost it's purpose quite a bit? If I want to find, let's say voice actors, should I post a thread about it here or only ask in the collabinator? What do you think?

Oh, I found some information about the guy! I know this might be considered a bit off topic, but look at this post like a correction from my last one:

He's not a writer for The Guardian, even though they've published what he has written for them. He's the spokes man for "National Association for Afro-Swedes". This group has been famous in Sweden since they wanted to ban an ice-cream because they thought it was racist. The ice-cream was named "Nogger" since it's from Germany and was made of nougat. This happened way back in the 60's and the ice-cream is one of the most popular ones in Sweden. This group though didn't like it when they made a liquorice version, and said that it was racist. Do I need to mention that no one in Sweden takes them seriously?

Anyway, I'm happy now. Unfortunately, people that aren't from Sweden doesn't know about this group, so they might believe them, but still. I'm happy now because I know that the writer of your source is know for being extremely unreliable, and at least no one in my country believe what he says :3

Moderators, this thing is now solved, so I won't post more off-topicness! Don't you worry! :>

It doesn't matter. You had a source that had misinformation. Even though the other sources might've been good, it isn't wrong to point that out.

HA. You want to see how many people in this forum actually have included reliable source in their topic? Most don't even add anything and just start the discussion.

Lurk around more, kid. You are here like how long?

It's worse to use a source that looks legit and isn't, than not having anything at all.

I already made an objection for the topic, didn't I? Read it again. Plus, as I stated, I go for unbiased point of view. Neither I support the rioters nor Swedes. Want to check that again?

If you are neutral, use neutral sources. If I'm neutral regarding immigration (for an example), I wouldn't post misinformation about immigration statistics from a racist-ish site.

You went off topic on first go. Self-appreciation and emotion should be put out of the discussion picture, as you thought your own point as interesting.

No, I corrected a source you posted. I don't think it's off-topic since it has something to do with your first post.

It's good that a Swede speak up, I respect that. But please stop treating outsider like idiots.

I didn't treat you like an idiot. At least not in my first post. I called the writer of the article you used as a source an idiot, but I never said anything bad about you. The reason he was an idiot wasn't because he wasn't a Swede (or that he was, as you call it, an "outsider"). It was because he's a writer for a huge newspaper, and he doesn't check his sources and writes things based upon lies and rumors. I got mad at him, not at you. He didn't do his job correctly. You're just a dude discussing stuff and, of course, you believed what he wrote when you read it. You're not an idiot. Of course you believe what he said, since "The Guardian" is a huge newspaper. It's not your fault, it's the writers fault. It's The Guardians fault. It's Jallow Momodou fault.

You did though annoy me when you answered saying I "went full retard". I did get a tiny bit angry over that.

Anyway, if you look at the other aricles Jallow Momodou has written, you'll see how he continues to spread lies and propaganda. In his article "Sweden punishes its rioters and its police very differently" he tells us how the police "brutally" shot a man, and according to the police he threatened people. According to the police. According to the...

They shot him. Not "brutally". They shot him. And it's not only the police that got threatened, which it really sound like when he says "according to the police". That man threatened many people on the street with his knife, which wasn't just any knife, it was a machete. A minor detail Jallow didn't mention. I wonder why.

I don't know why this guy hates Sweden so much, but he does. The only two articles he has written are both about Sweden, and they are so far from "correct" and "neutral" an article can be. It was a fun read. A fun read. Btw, if you read the other article, remember to not believe in everything he says.

Hm, I see. But are these wicked religious men and women a majority in these states? And I recently heard of "abstinence-only sex education". I guess that means that the pupils are being taught to not have sex until marrige? Do the teachers say that they should do it, or do they just explain what abstinence is?

Another question, do the pupils get unlimited free condoms in the states that has sexual education? And is it free for them to test themselves for STDs?

Just one more question (I find this subject very interesting for some reason), do the religious Americans prevent the American school system in any other way, besides the sex part? Because even though some religious Americans say that the revolution is a lie, they still teach that in the US... I hope o.0

First, even though The Guardian is a leftist news paper, the reason I choose its link for the source is because I want to have a solid backup source for what was happening, not how it happened. Second, you went full retard on things that have little relation to my topic.

Last, by racism, I mean both sides.

No, the fact that your source isn't reliable (at least one of the articles you referred to isn't) is VERY related to your thread. I did not go "full retard". If you are going to make a political thread and you use unreliable sources, there is a chance that people will correct you. And the facts The Guardian got wrong aren't minor. It was the opposite of what happened. The Guardian draws a picture that says that Swedens politicians are racist and attacks everyone that points that out. It's so wrong. It's opposite of what happened. Swedens politicians apologized even though they did nothing wrong.

Even though you used unreliable sources, I still went on-topic later on and spread my thoughts. I think my thoughts should be considered intresting since these riots are happening outsite my window. I don't get why you called me a retard. I think I added to the topic nicely.

Response to: Sweden riots: Multiculture failure? Posted May 26th, 2013 in Politics

Anyway, I guess I should have an opinion on the riots too:
I live where the riots are. They don't have that much with racism to do, even though people talk a lot about it. It's more about teens running around breaking things for fun. It has spread through Stockholm, many does it in groups. Many say they does it for a reason (political shit, and sure, racist shit too), but in the end their actions doesn't really have anything to do with what they stand for. For and example, some are angry at the cops and the state. Instead of destroying their stuff they attack civilians, and private companies etc. That will hurt the civilians more than the state.

---------------

I am sorry if I sounded like some sort of patriotic swede before. Sweden do have problems with racism, but not more than any other countrie. At least that's what statistics shows.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/worldviews/files/2013/05 /racial-tolerance-map-hk-fix.jpg
They didn't measure racism with the best method, but if Sweden truly was really racist I think that it should've been shown more on this map.

I just got angry over the article since it was just plain wrong on many spots. Imagine if you've seen the minister apologizing live on national television, and then you read in some article that she hasn't, and that she attacked everyone that didn't agree with her. I don't even know where that last part is from. The article is just bad journalism. I mean seriously, I've seen the apology with my own eyes xD I couldn't find a recording of that online, so I guess you'll just have to believe my eyes D:
But if any swede here also watches the news and has a good memory, I'm sure he/she can back me up on this one :3

Bye :>

A question to the Americans. Posted May 26th, 2013 in Politics

Yeah, just one thing I can't figure out. Why doesn't all the states have sexual education? Statistics shows that it helps A LOT, and the US has problems with STDs and teen pregnancy. Why have so many states (there are surprisingly many) decided to not teach kiddos how to do it properly? Do they want them to have STDs? Maybe it's a fetish? STD fetish? Is that a popular fetish in the US? Or is it something else? Religion? But I don't see why that has to stop proper education. You can still be religious, even though you know how to put on a condom.

There are many causes and conspiracies. Some says it's immigration problem. Personally I think it's multicultural problem. For years, Sweden tries to be like Canada by opening door for immigrants. Problem is Sweden also on the high list of racism. It's like the Swede trying to mix onion with vodka. I'm not siding with the rioters either. A lot of these rioters are opportunistic low life dropouts. But the clear picture is, while most are Muslim, there are other races in the mess too.

What do you think?

I just want to say that your source is a joke. The first thing you see when you go there is the black face cake. When the video was released many thought it was racist. A few days after people started to realize that the artist of the cake (and the head), was black himself, and has for decades made art about and against racism. Therefore the minister who ate the cake got no punishment since it wasn't a racist cake.

The cake had absolutely NOTHING to do with female genital mutilation. That's just a rumor that apperently the idiot who wrote the article blindly believed in. Of course they start eating the cake from the bottom. There was a head at the top. It was just a co-incident people started eating there.

Was the artpiece tasteless? To some, yes, and I see why they believe that. Was the artpiece "a crude racist act" (quoted your source there), no, and if you believe that you're an idiot. Why would a black artist that has (for his whole life) fought racism become a racist over a day? It doesn't make any sense!

"Clearly, Adelsohn Liljeroth participated and encouraged a crude racist act in her capacity as a government representative. What makes matters worse is that she subsequently expressed no regret, instead choosing to question the intelligence of all those who criticise her. "

That is just... a flat out lie. The first thing she did was to go out and say that she was sorry, and how she regreted it greatly. Personally I think she did the wrong thing. She should've said that the artpiece wasn't racist. It took a few days for people to understand that since she didn't defend herself and just apologized instead.

I know I went off-topic, but your source sucks and lies, and I find it important to mention that.
