No. There more like big dirty bombs. Even if a reactor explodes, it doesn't explode in the way a nuclear bomb would. It does throw a large amount of nuclear debris into the air and irradiates the surrounding area, eg. Chernobyl still exists, it is just highly radioactive.

How long do you think they will take to build those power plants? Sure we're evetually going to be completely out of coal and oil, but that won't be for another 50 years at the least (it would surprise me if we ran out in 100 years) and they aren't going to take that long to get those plants up and running.

I think it is a great idea. Nuclear power offers a much higher power yield than conventional fossil fuels. The only drawback is that we don't know what to do with nuclear waste. Fossil fuel power plants are extremely bad for the environment. Sure, as a result of nuclear power production you have nuclear waste, but at least the waste isn't (leagally) just spewed into the environment like the byproducts of coal or oil power. Nuclear power plants can also produce power for longer periods without having to refuel them as you would a coal/oil plant. Sure it's not perfect but it's not the worst way to derive electrical power.

No, because being banned is a form of illegality. All they are doing is reiterating federal law. The only new thing it's adding is that illegal immigrants are no longer allowed to recieve welfare or public schooling.

While we basically agree with each other. I still believe that elementary school should be a place for just the building blocks of education, and if a child exhibits interest in a certain subject, such as art or athleticism, it's up to the parents to support the student's interest outside of the basics (though a school can offer after school programs to provide the parents with ways to do this)

As for highschool, that open's up the debate as to when a person is old enough to choose what they want to persue in life. I generally belive that around sixteen-ish is when a person has the mental capacity and life experience to know what they want to do in life, but this relies soley on the maturity of the individual. I know some people even now that they are in college, still aren't quite sure what they want to do in life, while other's have known since they were freshmen. I guess that's why you generally can't pick your carriculum until after highschool, because eighteen seems like an average of the ages at which people know what they want to do.

While he did use it as an adjective, adding the suffix -ed to a word implies that the root word is a verb. ie. An intellected(adjective) person is someone who was intellected(verb).

That is a double-edged sword. Yes kid's who want to have their phones in school say it's for emergencies, but the truth is, the majority of them use it for talking to there friends during school. Honestly I don't have a problem with it because, hell you don't want to pay attention and learn something, that's fine but don't bitch when you fail your classes. I went to a school that allowd kids to have cellphones for emergencies, but the kids did exactly what I stated above. A friend of mine, when she would get called on the fact that she was talking to someone for shits and giggles, would say, "No it's my mom and it's an emergency" and continue to talk to a person obviously (by the content of the conversation) not her mother.

While I agree with some of those policies, I have trouble with the part about not pointing kids in the diretion of finding a job. That's part of the ultimate goal of education: to make the person a functioning and contributing part of society. You need to have a job to support yourself. That doesn't mean you need the typical "nine-to-five" desk work type of job. but it does mean that you need to find some skill or trait you posses that can provide the essentials to support yourself.

Also, teachers shouldn't be required to give possitive reinforcement if the person isn't doing anything positive. Sure, if a kid is trying his hardest to do something, and due to mental or conceptual limitations they just can't, yes a teacher should encourage the kid to keep trying. But if a kid is just a lazy ass who doesn't want to work hard to get what he want's, that shouldn't be encouraged. (I'm speaking from the perspective of the lazy ass) All my life I just skated through what needed to be done.

Some teachers did give me possitive reinforcement, but I feel that the teacher's that helped me the most were the ones who didn't take my bullshit, because I realize now that that is what the real worl is. People don't make sacrifices for you in real life. If you want to succede you can't make excuses you have to just do what is asked of you to the best of your ability.

So what your suggesting is that there be an official government policy as to what is considered socialy acceptable, and that this be indoctrinated in children in the school system?
