Thanks for the tutorial, Pox!

I've got a pretty good idea for what to draw out for the contest. Pic unrelated - currently I'm just dicking around with the format and a choice of palette.

Sounds plausible, but wouldn't that hike up the filesize?

Let's say I have a Flash movie up and running. What could I do to make this currently digital-clean file look more like a video-quality picture? Would I require any specific filters, textured bitmaps, tutorials, etc? Just something to make it look less 'computerised'.

Idea: a side-scrolling game set in a city. You're on ground level, with the cars, people, animals, lamp posts, whatever. You have four options while you wander around: jump, punch, pick up, throw. The more stuff you vandalise, the more points you score. The more points you score, the bigger you become, from kicking dogs to throwing trucks to dwarfing buildings. Of course the bigger you are, the harder you fall - and by 'harder' I mean 'more' and by 'fall' I mean 'take damage from helicopters, tanks and rival monsters'. The objective - gain a lot of points before kicking the bucket.

It's like a cross between Mario and GTA. You know, for kids.

Highlight the keyframe on the timeline where you put your music file onto, and open up the Properties menu at the bottom of the screen. Sync 'Stream' is probably what you're looking for.

There's a lot of tutorials online about changing the colour of an object, but from what I've seen these guides are generally limited to objects with one colour altogether (e.g. a simple red ball or a black square). How can I replace one tone in a multicolour object (e.g a NES sprite), and/or multiple tones together (replicating a completely new palette for the object)?

The ideal goal in mind is to have multiple palettes for the movie, each using four colours. The default palette being a pseudo-GB scheme, with various alternatives offered at the push of a button. Attached picture is an example.

I'm using VCam, and I have a button object that - in theory - should adjust the X/Yscale of the camera object and back when pressed. E.g. press once to zoom in, press twice to zoom out again.

Any idea what the code should look like?

Chris-chan, autistic author of "Sonichu", on ED going down

Personally I've always had a soft spot for EncyclopediaDramatica. Sure, they make shit up for laughs, and they're homophobic, racist, and horrible in many ways. On the other hand, the site has hoardes and hoardes of articles on attention-whores, drama-whores, and whores in general with surprisingly accurate information - the point being that some people are a great source of laughs without having to distort anything, more record.

Its better than Uncyclopedia, at least.

Reminds me of all the people who bitched at LegendaryFrog. And the guy who made the Toof series. And illwillpress.

I don't mind seeing Awesome shorts in a compilation, or the extra-long standalone movies like Metal Gear 2 or Awesome Halloween. But I agree that dusting off the Crossing short was a pisstake.

This is just my personal opinion, but being a good moderator would also depend on what time you're available online (though this could vary with regional time zones) and how long you're able to spend keeping an eye on the boards. With the latter its really trying to avoid either end of the spectrum - you don't want to appear as an overenthusiastic nazi, but you also don't want to disappear for too long. Not to mention how much you prioritise Newgrounds over your social life.
