Me and Mattari 2600 are currently collaborating on an EP together called Minnesota Fresh... One of the songs is specifically about Mountain Dew. That's the song we're currently working on. I'll keep you posted on the status of the song, and of course post it up when it's finished. :)

I've always had this alias I believe, but every so often I would change it to stuff for like a day. Like on April Fools day when everyone was an admin and a lot of people were changing their names to stuff like IM_AN_ADMIN_LOL or whatever it was. I had something like that.

Haha sorry I've been in the habit of kinda disappearing from time to time. But now I've been on Newgrounds quite frequently again. I didn't even know this was still going strong. Never would have imagined it would be when I made it in 2004. I'm so proud. :'D

Also, I don't think Pepsi has announced this, but I'm pretty sure Game Fuel is over. Forgive me if this has been posted already, I just skipped about 45 posts.

Aw man, that shits! Ah well though, I generally only get original anyway, but it's nice to have the variety out there.

Also! If you could all help me out and go vote for me here, I would really appreciate it! The voting ends tonight... If I win I have a shot at getting a record label! ^_^

Hello Newgrounds!

Awhile ago I asked you to help me get a record deal by voting for me in a poll, I won that poll and advanced to round five. Now I need your help one more time!

If you could all go and vote for me here it would be greatly appreciated! The deadline for voting is midnight tonight, so I could really use some help.

If I win the vote I'll be in the finals for sure, where I'll compete on stage in Florida for a shot at the label.

It would mean a ton to me if you could help out. :3 <3

TL;DR: Go vote for me here, please!

Awesome! How did you do the calculations? I would like to try this.

I pretty much just figured the average. For the past month or two I haven't even bothered with anything but 2-liters, and I figure I go through about 15-20 per week, which averages out to about 15$ because they're always between $1.00 and $1.50 at Walmart.

I have trouble finishing off one 2 liter these days, I used to drink two all the time though. Maybe I should start working on that again and stuff. I'm enjoying something I rarely indulge in - a 2 liter of Live Wire.

Damn, I haven't had Live Wire in awhile... I wanna get some! I've been sticking strictly to original, and the occasional Baja Blast from Taco Bell. Damn that stuff is good!

Your rhymes are messy and confusing like a ball of tangled cords
And your songs got more rough edges than poorly soldered circuit boards
Now my rhymes, they are contagious to all who have contested
So look out cause just like Kerrigan you're gonna get infested
I don't make battle tracks, don't lash out against haters
Cause that's crude and I'm refined like Boolean Operators
Instead I make a general track, I point out all their flaws
You hate me; the effect, but what could've been the cause?
Clearly I have something you want, something you think you need
But your mind is slow like dial-up, I'm rocking T-3 speed!
So you really can't compete, like Xanga against Myspace
And just like the New Numa you're nothing but a huge disgrace
You're obsolete like Netscape and more useless than Scroll Lock
I break the mold like Google Chrome, you play it safe like Firefox
My lines build from scratch like Linux; yours pre-programmed like a Mac
You can kinda flow and rhyme but the originality you lack
You're Doomed like marines on Mars, better go grab your BFG
Cause that's the only way you've even got a chance to compete with me!
I mean come on attack me? Can't believe you have the nerve or
Maybe you just forgot that you're the client and I'M the server!

and his "look I'm edgy" side. Now as a rapper he is talented... He has good flow, great beats, and... interesting lyrics.
Did you know he freestyle's most of his songs?

I can't say I knew that or that I really believe it to be true. Most people who say that mean they freestyle a general idea as a framework then work thought our lyrics around it. This may be the case.

Personally though I can only stand his more serious stuff, his goofy side just gets to me. I don't know, I like the more poetic rappers.
Yeah... That must be why you were less into my song.

Yes and no. I like a lot of rap, and a lot of it isn't poetic. I'm even into some horrorcore stuff like Boondox and Twiztid. It's because they're talented with flow, beats, and even though the lyrics aren't necessarily poetic, they are intelligently crafted and interesting. Your lyrics were not so much.

It's all a moot point though if you're just writing a song for the sake of writing a song for fun. If you really want to write songs though and get better at it as a hobby or whatever though, you've gotta keep at it and whatnot.

I dunno, it's just kinda hard, like saying sorry... She's only been my girlfriend for like... a week...

Okay saying "I love you" because it's "just an expression" is exactly the reason it's "just an expression." Fuck that. Maybe I'm just too into this, but I believe that love should be a true and special thing, not just something that people say because they feel obligated since they're in a relationship.

Do you love her? Probably not, especially if you're asking Newgrounds for advice on the matter. Now I don't know the history behind you too, or how long you've known each other, but you've been dating a week, I'm sure you're not in love.

Personally I'd strive to preserve the power of that phrase, and keep meaning in what love is... If you feel that way, then talk to her about it and let her know that it means something to you. I've been in the same situation before and I let her know that I didn't want to just start throwing that phrase around, and she understood where I was coming from.

Hope this helps. :)

Alright here's the deal: Essentially all music takes talent one way or another, and all music is going to have fans and people that don't enjoy it.

Where does this leave us? All music should be respected, but all music should not be liked... If that makes sense.

I don't particularly like death metal, I like metal, but not death metal. That doesn't mean death metal sucks, and it doesn't mean it doesn't take talent. It does on physical and lyrical counts, but it's just not for me. This same concept can apply to other people for rap, but they should only say that if they know what they're talking about.

Anyway, all that nonsense aside, let's get back to the original topic. Some people have been saying that Rap and Hip Hop are both fundamentally genres of music, with differences. I disagree, as I said hip hop in my opinion is the culture, and rap is the music of that culture. This does not place them as different though. It just means that rap is one PART of hip hop, which encompasses that and many other facets.

I first learned about NewGrounds when I was only nine years old. My older cousin showed me the site, and my first experiences were with some quite... well, needless to say messed up things for a nine year old to be witnessing. Still, I wasn't disturbed or disgusted, I was intrigued and immediately took to the site, and started to come here whenever I had a chance to get on the internet.

When I finally got my own computer I found myself watching animations and playing the games daily, and ended up finally making an account when I was 13, when I finally made my way to the forums and wanted to join in on the various conversations.

What do you most enjoy about the site?

Everything about NewGrounds is fantastic as far as I'm concerned. I'm not going to get into a huge rant about this, but I regard Newgrounds as sort of my original internet family, and I truly have learned a lot from this community. Despite the ridiculous amount of stupidity that lurks here (No one can deny this), there is a lot of intelligence that dwells here too. Obviously this site would not have the same effect on everyone as it did me, but personally it taught me a lot, and it always gave me someone to go to since it's much easier to turn to a lot of unbiased and anonymous people for help than people in real life for some problems.

Without NewGrounds I would absolutely not be who I am today. And besides all of this, I love the content, the games, the animations, the community, everything about it is amazing.

Given one day at the reins of the site, what would you change, what would you fix?

Is this assuming that I have "unlimited power?" Or are we literally talking what I could actually accomplish in one day if I ran the site? Because if I had the ability I would get the chat going, and instate the literature portal. These are the only two things I can really think of. Maybe I would put an edit function on the forum (One where after a certain amount of time you're not longer allowed to edit).

Is there anything you miss, that you'd like to see back? (I.E. Old Blam/Save Animations)

Honestly I miss the old motto: The problems of the future, today! I mean "Everything, By Everyone" is true and nice and all, but when I think of Newgrounds I always think of the original motto first.

Yes, you can find repetitive rhyming in rap music that most people think are garbage. Most of soulja boy's music couldn't even be considered real hip hop music because it holds no intelligent thinking whatsoever. Likewise could be said about many other songs and artists from every genre, not just hard metal rockers who only growl and yell. But no matter how unintelligent or repetive the song is, you will still find some people who are fans of that music

Haha great first post, exactly the point I've been trying to make! Most mainstream rap sucks, period. It's repetitive, it's unintelligent, and it's just plain bad. Most people who judge rap as bad are only exposed to this music. You need to actually look and pay attention to the good artists to find the good stuff.

All genres have artists that suck, that's just the way it is.

I think that the two are very similar, but I think that the basic thing that breaks them apart is that hip-hop has more of a focus on the beats and the instrumental/electronic music rather that the lyrics, and rap focuses more on the lyrics and less on the beats and instrumental/electronic music bit.

To a point I'd say that's true, but also a bit flawed... The beats, even when not being rapped over, are music yes, but it's just music that belongs to that culture rather than defining Hip Hop as a genre.

I wouldn't really classify hip hop as a culture though...
There are more differences in the two, and I know what they are, but they are hard to explain.
they're just different.

I do believe that Hip Hop is its own culture though. What defines a culture? Hip Hop has its own vernacular, it has its own fashion trends, its own music, its own art, and something of its own political views. This sounds like a culture to me. I mean just watch documentaries like Scratch.

It's all a matter of opinion.
