COMPLETE edition of the interactive "choose next panel" comic
4.07 / 5.00 13,902 ViewsEdgy as in Punk, Industrial, Hood-Rat, Low Rider, Steam-punk. Or any modern sub-culture with it's own distinct Art, Dress & Music Style could work. I won't do Emo, Goth, Futuristic, Comicbook, or Fantasy because it doesn't fit the context of the game.
Willing to work with multiple people. No experience making a video game required, If you've got the art, I'll teach you the rest to make this happen. This game is all about story. Plenty of room to make your art style shine with the characters and setting. No preference between pixel, vector, hand-drawn, or photographic work. But it must be your art, not public assets. The chosen artist will be able to keep their own pace and devote themselves to the project till it's done. Once a week updates won't cut it. Be willing to communicate and work with others.
Video of the prototype
It's a side scrolling game with just 2 maps. 1 Day and 1 Night version. Some interiors and 1 alternate location. The setting is within a part of a city influenced by the chosen subculture.
- Town only requires 5 locations: Club/Bar, Store, bus Depot, Alley. Clock room.
- Everything between is scenic and open to your own expression
The game supports parallax scrolling on 3 layers
- Far background where you can see major landmarks of the city
- Middle ground where the character walks and buildings listed above.
- Overlay for street objects like trashcan, car, streetlights, etc. that pass in front of the character.
- No Skyline needs to be drawn.
Game has 8 characters. Possibly more as the story develops. Your 2-cents and additional concepts are welcome.
- All characters need images for their location such as sitting, behind a desk, lurking in the alley.
- Only the main character needs walking/standing animations.
- All characters need portraits for dialog with possibly several different facial expressions.
And that's it. This is a revenue share project. Your cut is open for discussion. If you send me commission rates you will be ignored. Will require a standard non-disclosure agreement. I realize most people are either good with People or Scenery, rarely both. If you've got the drive and a solid art style do apply by PM or email SplashKhat@yahoo.com with sample(s) or links of your work.
Thanks for reading and sharing.
I'm a starting indie dev. I'm no English major so my spelling and punctuation sometimes suck horribly. But I've coded my own dialog engine in AS3. The game I'm currently developing is entirely story driven. Dialog tree style. I've tons of theater and script writing experience. And some classic NG awards to my credit. I could be a great asset to the right dev team. Even though I have my own solo project, and about to make a post looking for an artist. I'm not limiting myself, I'm interested in what you plan to do. post me here or email SplashKhat@yahoo.com
Any links to samples?
I've got a game in progress that will need the hero & creatures animated. Offering a percentage of the games sale.
Only hiring for backgrounds artist/musician atm, but would like to keep in contact if interested.

I've been programming/writing/creating this game since January. Once it's done I plan to sell it on FGL.com. We get paid a lump sum, not royalties. I'm offering %10 of that sale and an additional % to you, for every point above 6 (1-10 scale) that your artwork earns. I plan to also hire an animator and a musician (or pay music licencing fees) .
This is a movie detailing some of the work I'll need, it does not show off all of the game's features.

This is a colab, so I'm open to your idea's on changing up the levels. The theme of these stages are magic / dream / nightmare. And for the most part it is outdoors. If you're fast it would only be a few weeks worth of work or less.
If you have any samples to share, interested, or want more info feel free to post or mail me SplashKhat (at_) yahoo (dot_) com.
I have a game that's already half a year into production. I am currently working on this full time. I'm at a point where I'd like to get the background art into the game. You can see what the needs are from this Short Video
I only need an artist for Backgrounds at this time. I will need a Character (animator) artist later for the main character, enemies, and bosses. If you have experience with both that would be great. Just keep in mind that doing both is ALOT of work.
The game will be sold on FGL.com. Once the game is sold I will pay you a percentage of that sale for your work. Hopefully you'll want to stay on and work with me on more projects and form an indie dev team. I am not looking for commission artists, as I need someone who is as invested in the overall quality of the game as I am. I'm interested in quality and your dedication to your own work. Our combined skills will earn us more money from the sale.
You can see from my history that I have a high average, Since my last animation was done I've gone on to do alot of things with film/video/writing and other multimedia stuff. But now I'm back in Flash and ready to make some Games.
If you are interested post a link(s) to any work you've done and what percentage of the sale you are asking for. Read through the FGL.com FAQ if you are concerned about pay. Keep in mind that I have a musician and may need a second artist on the team, so be fair with your request. You can post here or mail me SplashKhat (at_) Yahoo (dot_) com.
Cheers!
The actual dialog controlled by the menu I've already got covered, It's the functionality of the menu that needs the assist. Yu misunderstood the topic but I'll reiterate.
The menu (a series of buttons) needs to update based on user's interaction.
several menu selections need to open up new menu options.
each new menu item needs to highlight text
each used menu item needs to dim text.
a second menu (replacing the first) will come into play at one point.
I'm interested in Flash code/resource/tutorials that would make this happen. As I mentioned I'm not a native scripter to the latest in what Flash offers.
Been some time since I jumped into animating in flash, Heck, I think it was Flash 8 for the Final Fighting Fantasy series here on NG. I know I learn best by having a project to create, and I'm doing just that. I'm a designer, not a scripter, I don't want to resort to an overly complex frame by frame movie clip.
I need a dialog window that has a list of questions. Depending on the question that was watched, the menu will add new follow-up questions.
Having these new menu items highlighted, and old items faded is ideal. More then one question will expand in this way, and multiple times. The entire menu will be replaced once with a fresh list.
Example: (> denotes follow up questions)
What happened to...
Why is everyone...
> What do you ...
Who are the ...
> How would ...
> Tell me more about...
>> What happens if ...
Why must it ...
