Very good Murph_Dogg. You are earning you place as #2 of the “LOTMG”. And I fully agree that organized religion has soured long ago and now functions more as a tool to suppress the masses while turning them against each other. Historically, religion has had more to do with war, slavery (romans / Catholics), and all around oppression then any other of mans inventions.

Looks like we have a #2! I will be working on a site soon in between classes....and after a few more people join..... unless I can just find someone to do it for me. For now just work on a tag to put in your BBS sig. I’m working on one myself. I’m going to figure out the best way to coordinate member communication any ideas? AIM or should we stick to e-mail and posts or what?

Response to: Club for the Godless! Posted February 13th, 2003 in Politics

I know how you feel Ted. This club is based more on logic though. So in truth you can still not be completely sure in what you believe as far as god goes and still join. As a member however you are expected to never revert to the whole “because God said so” or “simply because I believe” arguments. In other words always have a basis in reality for your argument.

Response to: Club for the Godless! Posted February 13th, 2003 in Politics

Too bad, it wolda been good to have ya MJClock...... :(

By the way this is not a club for actively dismantling a persons beliefs. It is a club for people who share a love for logic over mysticism.

What the hell are you talking about??? Religions are something that you believe in. Let people believe in what they want. How are the AMISH hurting you in anyway? Personally I don't believe in organized religions but the religion itself is no reason to call it stupid.

What I am talking about are the rituals that go hand in hand with organized religion. People can believe whatever thy want but dancing with snakes, slicing off foreskin, and mock cannibalism ( communion ) just don’t seem to fit in with normal civilized life. Keep in mind these are about the tamest forms as well. What about those “rocket scientists” in the Philippines who have themselves crucified the actual old-school way to suffer like Jesus ( even though, if Christ lived, he died for our sins making this practice unnecessary).

Club for the Godless! Posted February 13th, 2003 in Politics

I want to see if anyone is interested in joining a political forum club for atheists who are dedicated to arguing logic above religion. I will call it “The League of the Militant Godless”

Keep in mind that this is not an opportunity to bash people for their beliefs. Preferably a member will respect the persons convictions yet never waver from their stance on superstition.

Then again I can’t tell a member how to act. ;)

Response to: The end of religion? Posted February 13th, 2003 in Politics

Yes, a sudden break down would pose a dangerous situation. Though, I am happy to see that mankind is progressing to the point where we no longer have to put every aspect of our lives to chance (God). This means that instead of praying for a better world we just may take up the responsibility for creating one.

The point is that they are all stupid, archaic, dangerous in some cases, and have no place in the modern world.

I have one of an iron sacred heart with Von dutch flames coming out the top and the international communist star with the hammer and sickle right in the middle of the thing on my right shoulder. As soon as I can get a pic of it I might post it.
