Oh wait, you didn't say that they would be saved. Well then, I still stand by what I said. Besides, I can probably lead forces to their position. I may be worth more to the hostages alive

Response to: Morality #1 Posted February 17th, 2003 in Politics

I would do it. One person or all plus me? I don’t believe that I have an immortal soul that would suffer the consequence of this action so the only thing I would have to deal with is guilt. I think after a while I could forgive myself. Besides, if there was a god I just saved 49 lives. I think that would be kept in consideration. However I don’t think that it is even a factor.

Hide behind them is right. That is what they are there for, they are our rights. Would you rather we not have such rights?

I guess I'll sign up as #2....... Too bad this club can only exist while he’s in office.

After WW 2 the leader of Japan was asked, why if they had such an advantage over the US military due to the surprise attack how come there was no attempt to occupy any of our cities. In reply, he simply stated that it is impossible to occupy a nation where every other person is armed.

I live in West L.A. and yes this is a common thing in Americas big cities, however what have to take into consideration is how many people occupy the city. For every Cold, calloused, apathetic person there is in L.A. there are 50 decent people and at least I dunno........1 or 3 genuinely nice people.............. Awwwww shit man. Who an I kidding, we have a lot of assholes out here

Response to: Why fear death? Posted February 17th, 2003 in Politics

I personally don’t see anything to fear about death. I feel that when we die, that’s it, game over, no bonus round or palace in the sky. What’s so bad about not existing anymore? It’s not like you’ll notice. This line of thinking has made me live life the way I want to and experience the world to it’s fullest. I am confident that if I can continue to do this I will die with no regrets and no fear. I will gracefully take my final bow, thank everyone for the lovely experience that is life and leave with dignity.

Sorry about the slow turn around in signing you up, I was a little drunk last night and didn’t even notice that you wanted to join. As a result I just defended myself against implodinggoat and went to sleep.

Welcome to the League JudgeMeHarshX.

I read his away message too and I have just one comment......only 3?

As you may have noticed the political forum is not the most active place on NG. I have not been advertizing nor have I been spaming other forums to gain notoriety. I look more for quality of those who would be interested in joining rather than boast an inflated number. Of course if numbers mater to you then I suppose you missed the point of this group.

(This is an old riddle I don't know the answer to. Does anybody know?)

This riddle was in Alice in Wonderland, it was never intended to have an answer due to the randomness and nonsense that was a theme throughout the book.

Response to: American people are often rude...? Posted February 16th, 2003 in Politics

I think it is also a matter of cultural difference. There are a lot of things that we Americans do that in America is common place yet to someone else it will seem disrespectful. One example is how most older Japanese people see it as disrespectful to look another person directly in the eye, in America however if someone will not make eye contact then they are suspected of either being disrespectful or dishonest.

Welcome to the League Reaper-n, you are the 4th member. I can tell by your profile message that you will make a good member.

That is a great idea for member communication i.e. the in site forum. I think it actually might be a good idea if you do help with the site. I personally am an html novice at the best plus I just started figuring out how to use this golive program I just got. Any help will be highly appreciated.

No free donuts....... sorry, wish there were though........... *stomach growl*
But any of you who want to join (Shrapnel, and MJClock I would be honored) still can as long as you tell me straight so I know to add you to the list. By the way KaneOfNod, I stated earlier that you not be a total atheist to join, just that you will try to use logic to argue your points rather than reverting to biblical reference in it’s place.

Response to: Final Fantasy Club Posted February 15th, 2003 in Clubs & Crews

I just checked the list and it looks like I switched places again. *sigh* looks like I need to update my sig pic again. It’s ok, it looks like it takes a lot of work keeping up with all the people that want to join. But just so everyone knows, I’m number 63.

BTW, I'll change the pic when I get a chance later tonight........ gota go catch DD!

You are correct, I realized that I should not limit to total atheists when I thought about it a little more. A person can still join it they are dedicated to logical thought. After all, I would still respect Steven Hawking even if I found out that he went to church every Sunday.

By the way, thedirtiestjamocan, you are number 3. Welcome to the League.

I have a club for the political forum “The League of the Militant Godless”.

You do not have to be a total atheists to join but as a member however you are expected to never revert to the whole “because God said so” or “simply because I believe” arguments. In other words always have a basis in reality for your argument.

Keep in mind that this is not an opportunity to bash people for their beliefs. Preferably a member will respect the persons convictions yet never waver from their stance on superstition.

Then again I can’t tell a member how to act. ;)

It’s very sad that the US government had to find a “silver lining” to terrorism by limiting our freedoms.......... I tell ya’ brother, this is just one more thing that’s going to be thrown on the heap that will break the camels back. One of these days the American people won’t stand for any more of this shit and lets just say quite a few apple carts will be overturned.
