Probably not related, but have you been leavin abusive reviews/shit reviews saying "hah you suck" or something?

If you didnt record real gun sounds, did you record them off the tv or something? If you did thats still nicking them. I do have some sympathy, as i dont understand what happened either.....

Response to: think my stuff got deleted Posted July 16th, 2005 in Audio

So the original author - if you did make them yourself, it was wrong and NG couldnt allow it, and if you didnt make them, you stole them, which isnt allowed either. They may have done you a favour, dependin how you look at it.

BUMP

Response to: who wants to run with me Posted July 16th, 2005 in Audio

For small loops, i think wav may be ok, if not, then 320k mp3. Trouble will be with larger files, but since its an FTP it wont be too slow.

Anythin else anyone?

Response to: Downloads / Submissions Posted July 16th, 2005 in Audio

Lol, like myself? I do it admit a bit of work would be involved, but i'm no programmer so i'm not sure how much.

No, its not in reviews in the slightest. There is a review score, and there is the actual score.

I don't think restricting voting rights is gonna impress the admins either.

Wheres the problem? It stops 0 voting, how else do you purport to stop them? By allowing 0 votes in the gands of noobs?

If you're arguing prevention of freedom of speech, then i'm arguing that preventing us from knowing who 0 votes us is unreasonable, why should we face criticism from faceless people? Its nothing like the real world, in the real world the faceless will merely not buy a record based on what someone with a name has said.

Can you say the url of your other thread about this? I tried searching but there was like 30 pages.

Anyways enough squabling. First we need to get enough people interested in this. Then we can decide with them what solution we want. Then we can approch the admins and hope they're in a good mood.

Least we agree on something.

IF YOU WANT THE AUDIO PORTAL CHANGED, POST HERE!

We definitely need to agree on one solution, come up more than one and they will metaphorically tell us to piss off.

Thank you, i dont claim that its perfect, nothing is, but i find it to be better than the current system in theory. Another take on it could be that you are told who it is when someone gives you any score, so you know who you're fans and enemies are.

Response to: Anti-flammer system? Posted July 15th, 2005 in Audio

To aid my plan, i'll compare it and summarise again.

NOW: anonymous 0 voting, can happen to anyone at any time.
Under my system: You would know who it is, and can remedy the situation by shooting down those with bad attitudes. (noobs, crews)

Under my system: possible flame wars (so what?)
Current: Musicians getting shot down by retards, not knowing who it is and then going to other sites (pandora, other arists)

Current system: Syndicates can bomb the hell out of people and no one who knows is going to do anything knows about it

My system: Syndicates can still bomb the hell out of people, but they need to submit a piece of audio that passes moderation, and only the member who submits the piece can 0 other musicians. If we get victimised, their member gets victimised. Anyone who's smart will know this, and this will prevent flame wars and retaliation.

My system: true independent thought would be shot down if they 0'd anyone...., and maybe anyway, anyway.
current system: independent creativity gets annihilated anyway, so that makes no difference

Current system: general public can still pass opinion, 0 people for the hell of it. Elitist fans can attack entire other genres.
My system: public can still down rate other genres, but only musicians, who can be identified can 0 people. This will discourage the pointless shite that is downrating whole other genres.

Heres a biggy tho :

Current system: keeps some song turnover just by public vote, in that nothing that gets to the top stays there

My system: in theory songs could just go up and up and up, and stay there as no one would like to 0 vote them. To get around this i propose a period of chart after which all the tracks are removed, with their previous scores EITHER intact (to act as a portfolio)
or reset to 0, if you feel like you're song can be resubmitted if it starts at 0, but people will get sick of it and downrate it based on it being old.

Its complex, but i think it can work.

YAY thank you sir, i'm sure we'll appreciate the benefits, and besides, with the downloads down we've had more time to chat to each other, for some reason :S

Lol i love how my ears can pick up on shit about quality but get stuck when it comes to melody sometimes :)

Sad to say, never heard of meshuggah, but i'm not deep into the metal scene anymore, i only properly liked the flagship acts that are pantera, metallica, slayer, fear factory old sepultura and cradle of filth. And coal chamber if i felt like i deserved punishment :)

Response to: Suggestions for my songs? Posted July 15th, 2005 in Audio

Nah we're too busy burning the clock crew fool who came in going "ch3ck my l337 trax", and this isnt saying look at me.

Best place for posts like this in future mate is the audio advertisements thread.

Ye i get ya, i like writin techno but i'd prefer to be doin some gigs with my old band. Edirol eh? I'll look into it. My brains gonna implode from the amount of legit free shit that i've found anyway, so i dont know if i can handle buying anything else :)

There's 5 different kits they offer, and each individual drum and cymbal is sampled something like 127 different times (for velocity changes), and im not even sure how many individual hits they do for each drum...but theres lots ;D.

JESUS H FUCKING CHRIST this gotta be shit that the proper studios use when a session drummer/band member fucks off.

Do a google search for Tesseract. That guy is a genius drum programmer.

You can also get the cut down version of Drumkit From Hell Superior (it's called Drumkit From Hell 2) which is roughly 2 gigs, and it's just one kit (the metal kit, aka, thomas haake's kit). I did the naughy thing and downloaded it, but I havent used it yet because I need more ram ;D

Hmmm, i'm intruiged, but i'm also going mad cos of the amount of samples i've got anyway :S
.

At the moment, I'm using the original Drumkit From Hell, which is about 650 megs. It's not bad ;D

On a similar note, i had ACTUAL SABIAN SAMPLES FOR FREE when they used to put them on the net as samples :S but then they caught on to what a silly idea it was and stopped it :S I might still have some of the obscure ones somewhere :S

Hey, i'd write some new music...but i need to replace the pickup in my guitar first because it's sounding incredibly weedy, and not like Satan at all.

So all I can do is argue.

You can still write without using a guitar tho, write a bassline in synth or something.
I just get irritated when creative energy is wasted on something as pointless as this argument.

Response to: Ack! Problem!! Posted July 15th, 2005 in Audio

Ye if you have no drummer best bet is to use a "midi" type sequencing programme, but look for better samples on google to use than the ones you've got.

Response to: The Reason Thread Posted July 15th, 2005 in Audio

Its not even my thread, but no offence to either of you, stop arguin like schoolgirls and MAKE SOME TRACKS. Are you musicians or not?

Response to: Anti-flammer system? Posted July 15th, 2005 in Audio

Right, i'll try get it summarised properly this time, instead of trying to get you to actually READ my full idea in the evolution thread.

Only those musicians with a rating of 3 or above can 0 vote other musicians
If you are 0 voted, you get a message telling you who did it.

The argument against this that i've had off a particularly ignorant mod is "oh, just so you can 0 them back if they 0 you?"

To which i say EXACTLY. If a shit artist dares 0#ing a good artist, the good artists and his mates will annihilate them down to below a rating of 3.

The other part of this is that somone has to be a musician, meaning they have to submit something that has some effort put into it, not just a 2 second shitty noise, some thing like a loop thats at least 15 seconds long.

Sure you could argue that this restricts true creativity, but true creativity that uses brand new time structures gets annihilated on NG anyway by younger fans that are still impressed by anything done in multiples of 4
, so i dont see that part making a difference.

If you dont know what i mean by true creativity, look up captain beefheart, i personally am not a fan, but i see the effort in making 54/17 time signatures or whatever that shit is.

MAke sure the sample rate is 44.1 khz, cos NG's streamer messes with it otherwise.

If your mics not working, check that the end of the plug is clean. If thats not it and you've not messed up your pc settings, i'd say its likely to be the lead. Either try and follow jobelows post on fixing a mic lead or get a new one. Sorry i cant help more
