It's pretty odd Toast, I've been thinking the same things lately. I love programming, but I don't know if game development is really the thing for me. For some reason, I love writing scripts/programs that run in the background and no one really knows about. Basically, programs that do calculations with little user input. I mean, I was writing a few programs that did things like that for literally 17 hours straight the other day. Game development on the other hand I can't do for more than an hour before getting bored. I know C++ somewhat well and I might learn more to make games, because hopefully it will inspire me again. The only other language I know really well other than AS and my intermediate knowledge of C++ (and besides web languages) is Perl (which can be used for the web, but I don't). I feel like I need to branch out a little. I'll finish up my current Flash projects and see what happens from there.

And it would run perfectly fine.

Unless, of course, _url returns only the domain name, and not the entire URL which I thought it did

Holy shit, I had a pretty big scare. I was biking home 8 miles in the pitch black during a very bad lightning storm while it was down pouring (very bad idea, I know, but I had no other choice) and I saw lightning hit a tree not too far from me. It was so close the pitch black basically turned to day time. I ended up biking home in 3/4 the time it usually takes me.

Yes of course you can. There are a few different possibilities, such as SmartFox which I experimented with. Of course, my little games failed because they lagged too much, but if you can figure out a way to make lag-free games, then yes, it is possible in AS2.

Has anyone ever read How To Build a Game In A Week From Scratch With No Budget? It's not in Flash, but it is still interesting to read and could possibly teach you a thing or two about time managing.

Hm, lately I've been really wanting to get back into game developing, after not doing anything for almost a year. Is there possibly any artist out there who wants to casually work on a very small, simple game? Nothing serious really, I just want to do something to get me back into the groove.

I really miss Newgrounds from when I was 11/12, back in '05 and '06. Probably the best time of my childhood, it was. Now Newgrounds just seems so meh... Is it Newgrounds that is changing, or me?
